1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 Convertible 4 Speed

Here is a very sharp 1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible 400 convertible with 4 speed transmission. NOM Pontiac 455 rebuilt motor with mild cam. Car sounds awesome (deep throaty sound), is very fast and is a blast to drive (yes it will lay rubber when needed)! It has had a lot of work done in the past few years (I have most of the receipts) including new brakes, new springs, new shocks, new master cylinder, new wiring harness, new clutch/brake peddles, new plugs/wires/cap/rotor, new electronic fuel pump, new brakes, newer headers with complete heavy duty exhaust system, newer front/rear bumpers and a new Pioneer AM/FM CD player. I bought a new cigarette lighter for it, but misplaced it (so it still needs a lighter). Also needs a new speedometer cable. Mauel brakes and steering. The car has newer floor pans and out side of a couple of pin sized bubbles (see picture) the car is rust free. It also has a golf ball size ding in the front valance but it is very hard to see unless you are looking for it (see front view picture). The car was re-painted about 6 years ago and still shines up nice and presents very well (originally Vordoro Green). Top is in decent shape and is manuel (I actually like these better because there is nothing to break and they go up/down faster). Brand new chrome wheels with Bridgestone Potenza Radial tires! Interior is in decent shape and the door panels were replaced recently. Seat covers are decent but do show some wear. I also have the original wood steering wheel and seat belts that will come with the car. This car turns heads wherever you go! It dosent get much better than a Firebird 4 speed convertible that sounds and looks as good as this one that you can purchase for a realistic price! I am pricing the car to sell!

Feel free to contact me with any questions about the car. I can be reached at 440-785-2687.

Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. However, I am happy to assist you in finding transportation for the car.

Junkyard Gem: 2007 Saturn Sky

Sat, Jun 26 2021

The Pontiac Division didn't have long to live when the Solstice first appeared in 2005 as a 2006 model, and Saturn's head was inching toward the chopping block at about the same rate. Still, optimism reigned — at least, it did until the global economy fell apart — and so Saturn Dealers got a rebadged version of the Solstice to sell: the Sky. Available for just the 2007 through 2010 model years, slightly more than 34,000 Skies rolled out of showrooms before the doors were nailed shut. Here's one of those rare cars, found in a Denver-area self-service yard a few weeks ago. I've found a handful of discarded Solstices in car graveyards during the past few years, mostly with crash damage. This Sky endured a medium-hard impact in the right front corner, which sent it to this place. The 177-horsepower, 2.4-liter Ecotec still resides under the battered hood. The Sky Redline version had a turbocharged engine rated at 260 horses; we can assume that such an engine would be yanked and purchased by the first junkyard shopper that realized what it was. The base transmission in the Sky was an Aisin five-speed manual, but this car has the optional five-speed automatic.  The Sky had its own nose and some different badging, but otherwise didn't differ much from the Solstice.  For the South Korean market, the Sky got Daewoo G2X badges and was advertised as the ideal vehicle for high-speed chases through Seoul traffic. The same car went to Europe as the Opel GT. Sadly, GM ran out of money to make right-hand-drive Skies, so we never got to witness Holden or Vauxhall versions. Here's Bob Lutz describing the new Sky. Lutz really hated car names molded into plastic bumper covers, so he takes great care here to describe the genuine glued-on emblems. Related Video:

Trans Am Depot teases 2014 GTO

Mon, 24 Jun 2013

Here comes the Judge. Court is in session. The verdict is in. How many more tired clichés can we come up with? It hardly seems to matter, because it's happening: Trans Am Depot has announced via the teaser video below that it is launching a 2014 GTO, complete with Carousel Red (bright orange, really) paint and full Judge badging.
The car is based on Trans Am Depot's 6T9 Goat, which, in case you don't get the reverential references, is meant to mimic the look of the 1969 Pontiac GTO. As with the company's other cars -including the 2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am we recently drove - the GTO will be based on the current Chevy Camaro, which means two doors, V8 engines and rear-wheel drive, just like the muscle cars of days past.
As for actual details of what's under the 2014 GTO's hood, we're completely left hanging. We'd expect some sort of power adder (turbo, supercharger or possibly some other form of a highly massaged version of the Camaro's V8), and we certainly know that GM has any number of hi-po crate engines to choose from.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
