I am relisting this due to a non-paying buyer. Please don't bid it you don't have the money. Also I have lowered the price to rock bottom for a quick sale. There is more money in the restoration of this car than I am asking for the entire vehicle so it's a great buy at this price.

This is a beautiful car that is super fast and fun. It has a real stock look right down to the factory rally wheels but look out there is a monster under the hood! We used to call a car like this a "Sleeper". It's great fun to watch someone's face when you start it up. The car had a complete rotisserie restoration approximately 10 years ago but has only been driven 6,000 miles since then. Here's what has been done: Complete engine build of a Pontiac 455 switched to 7K3 heads, SRP pistons, Eagle rods, SS Valves and guides, Comp Cams camshaft,Edelbrock Torker II intake, Edelbrock 750 cfm Performer carburetor, MSD ignition, Desert Cooler radiator. The transmission is a TCI Streetfighter TH400 with a 2300 rpm stall converter and stainless steel lines. During the restoration the frame was blasted and epoxy primed and sheet metal work included new GM front fenders. Also has all new suspension including ball joints, tie rod ends, shocks and a quick ratio steering box. The car has been upgraded to power front disc brakes. The interior was all redone including door panels, headliner, seat covers and dash pad. Front and rear windshields were replaced.  I think the color of this car is beautiful especially in the sunlight and it really makes the car look more modern and upscale.
It has a high lift cam so it has a pretty serious lope at idle and it really flies when you stab the throttle. It never runs hot and has very high oil pressure.
I try to do the best disclosure possible so here are the defects that I'm aware of: The paint is beautiful but it is not a $10,000 show car paint job and there are a few small scratches and one door ding. I believe the scratches could be buffed out. The original radio is in the dash but does not work and the antenna mast is broken off. Wipers work but the switch is hinky. There are some scratches in the rear window trim. That's about all I can think of. Really the car is very nice overall. This is not a junker. Also I cannot see any rust.
One more disclaimer:  This is not the car you buy for your daughter to go to college in (it's fast and loud) but If you want to go out on the weekend and have some fun then this is the car for you.
Now for the usual car sale stuff: PLEASE don't bid if you cannot buy! It cost $$ and wastes everyones time. The car is being sold as-is with no warranty and no returns or refunds allowed. I highly recommend that you come and inspect (or hire an inspection) of any car before buying. I am posting a lot of photos but please fee free to ask any questions. And no I will not ship the car to India or release it on a cashiers check that has not cleared yet or any other silly scam. I will however try to help work with your shipper to get them the car if needed. Also trades rarely work out but if you feel you must ask I will consider them. If you buy the car I will require a good faith deposit of $1000 via PayPal within 48 hours unless other arrangements are made. The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early in case of a local sale. Thanks for looking.

2.1 million vehicles recalled again over faulty airbags

Sat, Jan 31 2015

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Honda and Toyota will recall 2.1 million vehicles to fix faulty airbag modules "after the manufacturers' original attempts to fix the defects proved ineffective in some vehicles." These vehicles had all previously been recalled, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that the airbags could still potentially malfunction. This recall will cover Acura MDX, Dodge Viper, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Odyssey, Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix and Toyota Avalon models made in the early 2000s. NHTSA has reportedly received about 40 reports of airbag deployment in such vehicles, even though the vehicle had not been involved in a crash. Roughly one million of these same vehicles, all from Honda and Toyota, are also subject to recalls due to faulty Takata airbag modules, though this particular recall is for "an electronic component manufactured by TRW" that is separate from the actual airbags from Takata. According to NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind: "This is unfortunately a complicated issue for consumers, who may have to return to their dealer more than once. But this is an urgent safety issue, and all consumers with vehicles covered by the previous recalls should have that remedy installed. Even though it's a temporary solution until the new remedy is available, they and their families will be safer if they take the time to learn if their vehicle is covered and follow their manufacturers' instructions. A hassle is much better than a family tragedy." If you're the owner of an affected car, expect to hear more from the official automaker and government channels in short order. In the meantime, we'd suggest getting your car checked and fixed at your local dealer. The official statement and recall information can be found below. Previously Recalled Vehicle Remedies Not Working as Designed; NHTSA Announces Follow up Recall of 2.12 Million Cars and SUVs Saturday, January 31, 2015 Contact: Gordon Trowbridge, 202-366-9550, Public.Affairs@dot.gov WASHINGTON – U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced today the recall of more than 2.12 million Acura, Dodge, Jeep, Honda, Pontiac, and Toyota vehicles for a defect that may cause airbags to deploy inadvertently. The recalls will provide vehicle owners with a new remedy after the manufacturers' original attempts to fix the defects proved ineffective in some vehicles.

GM Design shows what could have been and what might be

Thu, May 27 2021

We periodically like to check in with GM Design's Instagram account to see what they're cooking up. Even better is when we catch a glimpse of an alternate history of what legendary designers from The General's past were thinking, though those ideas may not have made it into production. This week, for example, the account posted some illustrations from George Camp, whose career at GM spanned nearly four decades, from 1963 to 2001. One of the renderings is of what appears to be a 1971-72 Pontiac GTO Judge, but with two headlights instead of the production unit's quad beams. The rear departs from the canonical version most dramatically, with a massive integrated wing. Other bits that didn't make the production cut include large side vents, a gill-like side marker and rectangular intakes below the headlights that wouldn't be out of place on a modern design today. Amazingly, from what we can make out of the date, it appears that the drawing was done sometime in 1965, which makes it quite prescient.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) There's also a very aerodynamic interpretation of a Corvette ZR-1. To our eyes it splits the difference between the 1986 Corvette Indy concept and a fourth-generation F-body Pontiac Firebird, so perhaps parts of Camp's work on this sketch did make it into physical form. There's also a radical sports car concept from May 1970 that resembles the Mazda RX-500 concept from the same year, a Syd Mead-looking Cadillac coupe, and an Oldsmobile with a cool take on the company's trademark waterfall grille and elements of the Colonnade Cutlass at the rear. Other recent posts include a FJ Cruiser-like off-road EV, a sleek coupe with the Chevy corporate grille, and a rendering of a Silverado-esque pickup that looks far better than the current production version.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) It's pretty easy to lose hours in the account, but it's always fascinating to see GM's visions of what could have been and what might be. GM isn't liable for punitive damages in ignition switch cases

Wed, Nov 20 2019

NEW YORK — A federal appeals court said General Motors is not liable for punitive damages over accidents that occurred after its 2009 bankruptcy and involved vehicles it produced earlier, including vehicles with faulty ignition switches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday that the automaker did not agree to contractually assume liability for punitive damages as part of its federally-backed Chapter 11 reorganization. GM filed for bankruptcy in June 2009, and its best assets were transferred to a new Detroit-based company with the same name. The other assets and many liabilities stayed with "Old GM," which is also known as Motors Liquidation Co. Tuesday's 3-0 decision may help GM reduce its ultimate exposure in nationwide litigation over defective ignition switches in several Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models. It is also a defeat for drivers involved in post-bankruptcy accidents, including those who collided with older GM vehicles driven by others, as well as their law firms. The ignition switch defect could cause engine stalls and keep airbags from deploying, and has been linked to 124 deaths. A lawyer for the drivers and their law firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. GM had no comment. Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs said GM's agreement to acquire assets "free and clear" of most liabilities excused it from punitive damages claims for Old GM's conduct. He also noted that the judge who oversaw the bankruptcy concluded that the new company could not be liable for claims that the "deeply insolvent" Old GM would never have paid. The decision upheld a May 2018 ruling by U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan, who oversees the ignition switch litigation. Drivers have sought a variety of damages in that litigation, including for declining resale values. GM has recalled more than 2.6 million vehicles since 2014 over ignition switch problems. It has also paid more than $2.6 billion in related penalties and settlements, including $900 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice criminal case.
