1967 Pontiac 400. I bought this to restore and have gotten all of the major stuff done. Between work, going back to school, and life getting in the way I just don't have the time or patience right now. My wife would like to get the garage space back too.
I bought the car and had it shipped from the Seattle area. The body was extremely straight and in overall really good condition and there was no chassis/frame rust when I got it. The body of the car is 100% complete and finished. It has an original set of wheels on it with good tires. I have all the glass except the windshield. The car has the full front clip, bumpers, valence, headlights, tail lights, door handles, window cranks, wiring harnesses, steering wheel/column, gas tank, exhaust, engine, transmission, brand new car cover, and so much more. I also have a body bolt kit and interior/exterior screw/bolt kit. I can tell you much more detail about it if you're interested. Here is a list of some of the things I've already done: Engine and Transmission: -Pontiac 400 engine fresh from machine shop w/ receipts (Wills Machine Shop - Chamblee, GA) -bored .60 over w/ brand new pistons and rings -new bearings (rod, cam, main) -crank turned and journals polished -Lunati 292 cam and lifters -6x heads ported and polished, full valve job (also done by Wills) -rebuilt Holley 750 carb -engine block and heads painted OE Pontiac metallic blue -Edelbrock performer aluminum intake -GM Turbo 400 transmission -new transmission pan (chrome) -new chrome radiator -all new gaskets -new oil pump, new fuel pump, new water pump, new oil pan (chrome), new valve covers (chrome), new breather (chrome), 2 distributors, cap, wires, 2 alternators, pullies, and much more Body and Exterior: -new paint job, gun metal gray metallic, has never left the garage -new floor pans -new 400 hood with inserts/scoops -rear spoiler -new front fenders and fender extensions -new front shocks and coils -new rear shocks -upgraded rear multi-leaf suspension with traction bars -2 layers of dynamat (sound deadener) on floor and roof, 1 layer inside the doors -new body bushings -disc brake conversion kit on front -new door handles Interior: -new complete black interior to include OE style seat padding/covers, headliner, door panels -new carpet with jute padding and rubber under layer for extra sound deadening -dash and door interiors painted to match the body -instrument cluster painter to match dash -new sail panels and rear armrests -new package tray -original center console with wiring harness (excellent condition) -original kick panels painted black -new ignition switch, door/trunk/glove box lock set -new window cranks There is a lot more I have. The interior is done, the bucket seats just need bolted in. The engine is sitting on a stand. I just need to find the time to put the timing cover/water pump on and bolt the oil pan on and it's done. I'd estimate that 90% of anything you need is already here, it just needs installed (wiring harnesses, brake lines, fuel lines, etc). If you have the technical "know how" you should be able to get this up and running pretty easily. You won't have to put much more in to be 100% restored. I'll definitely consider shipping it if needed. If you're local you are welcome to come take a look, email, text, or call me anytime with questions. I work midnights so I'm always up late and home during the day. Like I said, all the big stuff is done. It's the little things and getting it all put back together and finished that I just don't have the time for. It's unfortunate because I've always wanted a 1st generation F-body. Now is just not the time. I can email/text more pictures and I'd be happy to take video and send that too. The car is for sale locally as well. Thanks for looking. A YouTube video of the car can be found by searching "1967 Pontiac Firebird 400" and my username is rbell944 *** I would consider a trade for a Nissan 300zx twin turbo in very good condition. Florida man runs down bikers in traffic
Tue, May 31 2016A Florida biker and his passenger got a nasty surprise when a road rage incident turned ugly on Monday. According to WTSP, Joe Calderazzo was returning from a Veterans Memorial Day motorcycle rally around 5:30 pm with a group of fellow riders. During their ride, the group got entangled with an overly aggressive driver in a Pontiac. Abe Garcia of Tampa watched the silver Pontiac attempt to run the pack of bikers off the road, which started the altercation. The bikers caught up to the Pontiac in stopped traffic, and a shouting match ensued between the bikers and the Pontiac driver. At this point, Garcia pulled out his phone and started recording. The exchange escalated, and suddenly the Pontiac driver floored it, turned hard to the right, and ran over Calderazzo's Harley. The Pontiac mangled the Harley and knocked Calderazzo and his passenger to the ground. The Pontiac then fled the scene. WTSP spoke to Calderazzo as he was on his way to the hospital. "I thought the guy was trying to kill us obviously," said Calderazzo. "You know you don't know what's going through your mind. Is he going to put the car in reverse? Is he going to turn around? Is he going to stop and pull out a gun? You don't know what's going on." The Pontiac driver, a serial traffic offender named Robert Paul Vance, was picked up by police soon after the incident. He is charged with hit-and-run, a moving traffic violation, and aggravated battery. Porsche still deciding on one or two new 911 plug-in hybrids
Tue, May 29 2018Back in March, Porsche CEO Oliver Blume told Autocar that the coming Porsche 911 plug-in hybrid "will be the most powerful 911 we've ever had." That quote portended a 992-series 911 with 700 horsepower or more. A new report in Auto Express, however, suggests Porsche is having energetic debates about just what the 911's hybrid strategy will be, and that the only agreed-upon plug-in hybrid 911 so far is a milder version to sit in the middle of the range. Putting all our rumors in a row, in January, Automobile reported on an electrically-assisted 911 with 485 hp and 561 pound-feet of torque. The new AE piece effectively endorses that, saying the mid-range hybrid would follow the program established by the all-wheel drive Cayenne e-Hybrid that produces a combined 455 hp and 516 lb-ft. The 911 would naturally use a flat-six instead of the Cayenne's 3.0-liter V6, and the sports car would be tuned for better sound response and sharper reflexes. AE says fuel economy for this hybrid should be at least 80 eMPG, with emissions of less than 80 grams per kilometer. The current base Carrera is currently rated at a maximum 38.2 mpg in the UK, with minimum emissions of 169 g/km. The hybrid, fitted with a double-clutch gearbox and Porsche's mechanical all-wheel-drive system, could run from a stop to 62 miles per hour in less than four seconds, making it more efficient than a base Carrera and much faster than a Carrera 4S. AE says there remains only "the potential for Porsche to add a second, more powerful hybrid 911," and says its sources claim that's what's "causing the most consternation behind closed doors." This one would be the twin-turbocharged, 700-hp beastie that, as a series production car, would have a hard time not usurping the 540-hp Turbo, 580-hp Turbo S, and 607-hp Turbo S Exclusive. True, the hybrid would be handicapped with a 550-pound battery pack, but the instant acceleration and handling benefits of electric AWD — with no connection between the axles — could provide the final edge over the other three. As such, it makes sense that there'd be a whole lot of debate about a flagship 911 hybrid. On the other hand, such a monster seems like an eventuality in view of Porsche's electrified aspirations, the lessons gained from the 918 Hybrid and the 919 Hybrid Le Mans racer, and the fact that CEO Blume has already spoken. The Stuttgart carmaker expects a sales mix of 25 percent electric, 25 percent hybrid, and 50 percent conventional powertrains by 2025.
Junkyard Gem: 1997 Pontiac Sunfire SE Convertible
Sun, Mar 5 2023For the entire 24-year production run of the GM J platform (best known for the Chevrolet Cavalier), the Pontiac Division offered new J-Body cars for sale in the United States. First there was the J2000, followed in quick succession by the 2000, 2000 Sunbird and Sunbird. The Sunbird stuck around until the Cavalier got a major redesign for the 1995 model year, at which point Pontiac changed the car's name to Sunfire. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those early Sunfires, a top-of-the-line SE convertible with the optional big engine and manual transmission. The Sunfire was an extremely close sibling to the same-year Cavalier (by the late 1980s, all the other US-market GM divisions had dropped their J-cars, which meant no more Skyhawks, Cimarrons or Firenzas), quite difficult to distinguish from its near-twin at a glance. The base engine for the 1997 Sunfire convertible was the pushrod 2.2-liter straight-four that powered so many J-bodies of the 1990s. That engine produced just 120 gnashing, valve-floating horsepower, not much by late-1990s standards. For a mere 450 additional dollars, however, the 2.4-liter Twin Cam engine and its high-revving 150 horses could be had by '97 Sunfire buyers. That's what's in this car. This is one of the members of the Oldsmobile Quad 4 family, though some fanatics will yell at you if you apply that name to the versions that don't have big QUAD 4 lettering cast into the valve cover. This is the most powerful engine ever used in production Sunfires. For 1997, Pontiac offered a four-speed automatic transmission for no extra cost in the Sunfire convertible. Buyers of all other Sunfire models that year had to shell out either $550 or $810 ($1,026 or $1,511 in 2023 dollars) for a two-pedal rig. That means that the buyer of this car really wanted the five-speed manual transmission (or just hungered for the $810 credit offered in the fine print for takers of the manual). Plenty of free-breathing engine power, five-on-the-floor driving enjoyment and the open skies above. What a fun car! This one made it to nearly 180,000 miles. For this car with the Quad 4 under the hood and a clutch pedal on the floor, the MSRP was $18,539 (about $34,584 today). Its Cavalier LS convertible twin with the same engine/transmission setup cost $17,365 ($32,394 now). This car has a bunch of options, including the 15" Rally aluminum wheels, so the out-the-door price would have been higher. The last year for the Sunfire was 2005, same as the Cavalier.
