Up for auction is an original 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 4-speed project car. This is an original California car that was purchased new in the Salinas area and has been off the road since 1977. It has remained in California its entire life. The original 400 motor and Muncie 4-speed are no longer with the car. It now has a non-original 1967 Firebird 326 and automatic transmission that goes with the car. The 3.36 dual traction bar rear axle is original, but the previous owner had it narrowed two inches. The car was disassembled and the outside of the body was sanded to bare metal, then left in a garage. It does not run or drive, but does roll. It would make a great project for someone who wants to either restore the car, or build a hot rod/race car.

The PHS documentation verifies this car is a true 400 4-speed car originally equipped with power steering, power drum brakes, remote control right side mirror, custom seat belts, rally gauge cluster & hood mounted tachometer, vanity mirror, wire wheel covers, electric clock, soft ray tinted windshield and E70-14 red stripe wide oval tires. The original exterior color is Signet Gold with a cream vinyl top and gold custom bucket seat interior.

The body retains its solid rust free original floors and trunk pan. The car has some rust in the rear window area that is typical of vinyl top cars (see photos). The passenger side quarter panel has some very small rust holes at the bottom and will probably need a lower patch panel. The rear tail panel is damaged and will need replacing. The front windshield area is solid but does have one small area at the base of the dashboard that will need a patch. The body also has some dents and the driver’s side quarter panel has some holes drilled that were used to pull previous dents. Included with the car are a new in the box rear window to trunk panel, driver’s side door skin, trunk lid and a rear tail panel. Also the previous owner cut out a portion of the subframe around the upper shock mount area, so the subframe will need to be replaced.

Most of the parts that were removed from the car have been saved and are included with the car as well as some extra parts. Included are some valuable parts such as the original Muncie shifter, Harrison heavy duty radiator and 400 distributor. In addition the car comes with new in the box gold deluxe door panels, gold upholstery set and gold carpet set.

This 47 year old car is sold with no warranties expressed or implied. I have done my best to accurately describe this car. Please no emails about a buy-it-now price as I will not end the auction early. The car is available for inspection before the auction ends. The time to inspect the car is before the auction ends, not after you purchase the car. New eBay members with zero feedback should contact me before you bid.

Please only bid if you intend to purchase the car.

On Jun-18-14 at 12:38:35 PDT, seller added the following information:

I looked at the windshield area today and noticed a 1"x 1" rust hole at the top of the windshield opening that will need a patch. The rest of the area looks good and solid.

Vitruvian Energy crowdfunding to make EEB, a trashy biofuel

Sat, Nov 22 2014

When sewage is treated at a wastewater treatment facility, biosolids are the byproduct. After being separated from the water, biosolids are usually sent to a landfill or incinerated. That doesn't mean that they're without value, however. Vitruvian Energy has created a process to make a usable fuel out of this human waste product, and while the source is pretty gross, it is undeniably abundant, and the results are much cleaner. EEB can be made for less than $4 a gallon. In a process that Vitruvian Energy claims is energy efficient, biosolids are femented and introduced to a type of bacteria to create PHA plastic. Reacting the PHA with ethanol creates the ethyl-3-ethoxybutyrate (EEB) biofuel. Vitruvian says EEB can be blended up to 20 percent with gasoline or diesel without any engine modifications. This lowers the carbon footprint of the fuel it's blended into, and serves to oxygenate diesel, leading to fewer harmful emissions. EEB can also be made using other organic waste products, such as corn stover, rice straw and distillers grains. EEB can be made for less than $4 a gallon and isn't subject to the maddening market fluctuations and international politics of fossil fuels. Furthermore, EEB's carbon footprint is 70 percent less than that of fossil fuels. Vitruvian also sees potential for EEB to be used on its own to power vehicles or burned to produce electricity for the grid. So far, Vitruvian Energy has used grants from the California Energy Commission and National Science Foundation to develop EEB, and has tested the fuel in a Pontiac Solstice at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Now, Vitruvian is wants to test EEB on a larger scale in the real world in order to prove EEB's viability to interested parties in the wastewater treatment industry. In an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, Vitruvian Energy hopes to raise $200,000 to build a prototype EEB production line and to run a test vehicle for a year on an EEB-diesel blend on the streets of Seattle. Donors can score some interesting perks such as shirts and bumper stickers that say "Get Clean with Poopaline." Learn more about EEB in the video and press release below. Autoblog Classifieds finds: 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT

Tue, May 15 2018

Autoblog's free Readers' Used Car Classifieds section is a great place to list your car for sale, and because these are readers, they often list really interesting cars. Occasionally we find interesting listings, and tell you what's special about them. This 1987 Pontiac Fiero was listed for sale at the time of this writing, but if the listing expires by the time you read this, feel free to browse for other great finds. Thirty years after General Motors stopped building it, the Pontiac Fiero might have finally emerged from the darkness. First, it was a humble commuter car that just happened to be a mid-engined coupe, then it was a re-skinnable basis for Fierorraris or other slightly strange kit cars, and then it made some Worst Cars of All Time lists due to its econobox ingredients, including its Chevy Citation suspension parts. But after a few decades, even the most mediocre car will become interesting as most of the examples built have been run into the ground; why not then the Fiero? The story of the Fiero is paralleled by a number of GM products, as it improved constantly the longer it was built, and by the time of the last model years it was quite decent indeed. And then the plug was pulled. The Fiero might not be a Toyota MR2 or even a Fiat X1/9, but it was made in two body styles, the notchback and the fastback, the latter of which looks especially good now. The Fiero also remains quite affordable, and the plastic body panels do not rust, unlike with the two aforementioned cars. This 1987 car advertised for sale at Autoblog Classifieds does not yet benefit from the 1988 cars' improved suspension, but thanks to its low, low 47,000-mile odometer reading, it looks to be in tip-top shape. The automatic transmission is just the three-speed affair, though, rendering the V6 car here more of a cruiser than a fiery hot canyon carver. Perhaps that has contributed to its good condition, along with the lack of possibly leaky T-tops. Could the Fiero have aged better than your Hall & Oates tapes? Junkyard Gem: 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Edition

Tue, Aug 29 2017

The W Platform proved to be extremely long-lived and versatile for General Motors, remaining in production from 1988 all the way through 2016. You had your Impalas and your Regals and your Cutlass Supremes, and of course the 1988-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix was a W-body. For the 2000 model year, Pontiac made the racy-looking Daytona 500 Edition Grand Prix, an example of which I just found in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard. 2,000 of these cars were made, presumably because it was the year 2000, and each one sports plenty of cool-looking Daytona 500 graphics. Perhaps some Regal owner will buy these seats and swap them. This is the second junked Daytona 500 Grand Prix I have seen recently, after this one in Colorado. The Daytona 500 was about the same as the GTP version, with Eaton-supercharged 3800 engine making a respectable 240 horsepower. Disappointingly, this car has an automatic transmission. It never saw 150,000 miles, unlike most 21st-century W-bodies I see in wrecking yards. Featured Gallery Junked 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Edition View 21 Photos Auto News Pontiac Sedan
