Fully rebuilt Chevy TH350 trans (approx 6,000 miles)
Interior redone about 10-15 years ago
16" Alloy Z28 wheels 4 fairly new 245/50R16 Michelin Pilot tires Suspension is nice and tight other than rear springs. Have replacement rear mono leafs but no time to install them. Re-chromed front bumper (never bent) and re-chromed rear bumper Car has had both rear quarters replaced, small metal welded repairs near rear shock towers, floors still original with fiberglass inside at rear foot area (looks nice from below) Will need rocker repair, some small spots on lower doors, and some front lower fender repair. (See photos) Needs rear end gears installed, has 2.78? ratio now. I have carrier bearing set and 4.11 ring and pinion (new in box). Need to get rear wheel bearings and pinion crush sleeve to complete that job. Overall, this is still a very good car. Drives well and looks very nice from about 30 foot. Very smooth and powerful for a 283. On Jan-29-14 at 22:03:25 PST, seller added the following information: Just remembered something I should also mention. The front seat plastic backs and the rear window inside trim need replaced. They are overly dry from ozone and/or sun exposure. Also the drivers seat has a welt worn to the cord from getting in and out. I will post better picks of this by Sunday. On Jan-31-14 at 12:15:27 PST, seller added the following information: I needed to clear up some details and add some more requested pics to the listing. |

This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels
Sat, 14 Dec 2013We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later
Fri, 12 Sep 2014
Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."
GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns
Sun, 05 Oct 2014Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.
