Up for sale is a 1987 Pontiac Fiero SE. The car is in EXCELLENT mechanical condition. Everything on the car works perfectly (all lights, power locks, power windows, speakers, locks, heat, A/C , headlights, wipers, etc). The only thing that doesn't work on the car is the cruise control.
Interior: ***The interior of the car was originally cloth seats with tan carpet, metallic colored trim around the gauges, and dark brown carpet inlays on the doors. The original carpet was removed and red carpet was installed to match the car's exterior. Custom red floor mats with the logo "Fiero" stitched in them overlay the carpet. To replace the original grey-metallic toned trim, red trim was cut to fit and installed throughout the cabin (see pictures). The carpet on the door panels was removed and replaced with custom leather panels. The center console armrest with cup holders is custom made from leather and is permanently fixed in place. It is embossed with red stitching outlining the Fiero logo. The seats are now covered with custom red leather seat covers which are stitched to match the original Fiero seat stitching. The seat covers conform to the seats so well you can't tell that they are covers and not brand new seats. All of the original speakers in the car still work well, the antenna gets excellent radio signal, and the car has a new Pioneer radio to replace its original one. This was a non-smoker car, the interior is clean with very minimal wear. Exterior: All of the body panels fit seamlessly to the car, there is no warping and no dents. The only issue with the exterior is the paint, from a distance the paint looks fine but if you get close you can see the front hood is beginning to peel somewhat. Electricals: All of the buttons, headlights, overhead lights, trunk light, brights, headlight motors, power windows, power locks, engine hatch buttons, turn signals, fan, climate control, speakers, and wipers all work. The only item that doesn't work is the cruise control. The A/C in this car blows ice cold and the heat warms up the inside of the car very quickly. Mechanicals: The car runs flawlessly. Everything is in good working order. The alternator, wheel bearings, battery, battery cables, fluids, oil filter, air filter, and parts of the front suspension were all replaced in July 2013 (this year). The engine has plenty of power and the car starts on the first crank. I have been using this car as a daily driver since mid-summer and it has done roughly 4 hours of highway driving a week and countless hours of city driving since then- the car has never had any issues whatsoever, it's dead reliable. This past August I drove it over 7 hours to the beach and back with the A/C blasting cold air. This is a car you can get in, turn on, and it will get you anywhere you want to go and back with no issues. The new seats, armrest, and cupholders make this a car that you can sit in for hours and remain comfortable (I have). The car is a blast to drive, you can take a turn at any speed and the engine still has plenty of power to set the car back on its rear wheels when you hit the gas. The car is sold AS-IS and the buyer is responsible for shipping the car or coming to pick it up in person. |

Watch this garbage truck consume a Pontiac Grand Am
Wed, 15 May 2013When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Next time, we won't feel so guilty about slipping that rusty charcoal grille onto the curb next to the cans on garbage day. Watch the carnage by scrolling below.
'We're not a hedge fund': Porsche plans to curtail speculators and flippers
Tue, May 30 2017A sizable number of speculators view cars as an investment. Rare or unusual models are quickly snapped up and either parked for years or flipped for a profit. Cars from automakers like Porsche and Ferrari are more prone than others, and at least some people behind these models are getting a bit tired of it. While it's difficult to police what goes on after you sell a car, Porsche has some plans that might curtail the problem before it starts. Andreas Preuninger, the head of GT road-car development and the man behind the new 911 GT3, spoke to Car and Driver at a recent event. "I personally like to see my cars being used," he said. "That's what we build them for. They are just too good to be left to stand and collect dust." One recent example of this rampant speculation is the 911 R. While the special manual-only model sold for $185,950 when new, used versions were selling for nearly $1.3 million just months after it went on sale. While the car is a masterpiece and an instant classic, a good number will be parked and simply used as art and not the rolling testaments to the man/machine interface they were intended to be. The concern over valuations has become so fierce that some owners are upset that Porsche is offering the new 911 GT3 with a manual transmission, fearing that it may hurt the value of the 911 R. "When I said we're not a hedge fund, I'm talking to those people who are yelling at us for offering the manual transmission similar to the R," Preuninger said. "But if there are people wanting to buy cars like that, then as a company we should try to fulfill that, to meet that demand." It seems Porsche is keeping a close eye on who is flipping cars. Since there is often far more demand than supply with certain models, the German automaker has a name for every car before it's built. Buyers with bad reputations might not even make the wait list. CNN chronicles young girl building Pontiac Fiero
Fri, 26 Oct 2012At fourteen years of age, Kathryn DiMaria has already done what many self-proclaimed gearheads won't even attempt in their lifetimes. The Dearborn, Michigan teen is rebuilding a car from the ground up.
The intrepid youngster asked her parents when she was just twelve to start a Pontiac Fiero project, even offering to pony up all the funds herself. Father, Jerry DiMaria only expected the project to last a few months, but two years later, Kathryn is still at it. In this CNN video, the two are at Maker Faire (a DIY festival) rebuilding a 3.4-liter V6 engine out of a Chevrolet Camaro to replace the 2.8-liter mill found in the Fiero.
The whole family hast pitched in, with Kathryn's mother teaching her how to sew in order to complete the interior, father Jerry providing much of the technical know-how, and even her sister is chronicling Kathryn's progress through photos. Jerry even started a thread in a Fiero forum which has been live for two years and is now 22 pages long. Of the project, one forum member wrote, "welcome to the madness."
