Pontiac Fiero Indy Edition on 2040-cars
Chino Hills, California, United States
For auction a 1984 Pontiac Fiero Indy Edition. This is one of the 255 Fiero Indy with 4 speed manual transmission available in the world. There were a total of 2000 Fiero Indy Edition ever produced. This is original California Car. Car was sitting for almost 12 years in a concrete storage covered with car cover. I cleaned and covered the gas tank. Replaced all hoses, fuel pump, and fuel filter. I replaced all 4 tires with some used tires as the old ones were cracked. I started the car and it starts and drives. I attempted replacing the front brake pads, but had difficulty compressing the pistons on the front caliper. I managed to compress the caliper and replace the pads, but needs front caliper as the brake is weak. It also needs a new battery as I have to jump start. As I mentioned earlier, the car has been sitting for almost 12 years. It was a running and driving car before it was parked. According to the previous owner, he replaced the clutch with a Centerforce clutch at 116K miles. The interior is in very condition considering the age of the car, but it will need a new headliner. The car is fully loaded with power package group, AC, and more. The car has clean California title and currently registered as Non-Op. Please do not ask what exactly the car needs. Basically, I have only clean the gas tank and replace the fuel pump and filter. I got the car started and test drove it around the block. That's it. At the start, the car will RPM around 2K, but it settles at 800. I do not know how well the engine is running. I am sorry, but I am not a mechanic. If you are local, you are welcome to come see the car. Just do your research and think of the items it will need to be replace to bring back the car to road worthy that has been sitting for 12 years. Thank you. Car is located in Chino Hills, CA.
NO WARRANTY ARE OFFERED WITH THE SALE. THE CAR IS SOLD "AS IS". |

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod
Fri, 21 Feb 2014There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
Junkyard Gem: 1991 Pontiac Grand Am LE with Quad 4 Engine
Wed, May 9 2018GM introduced the N-Body compact platform with the Oldsmobile Calais and Pontiac Grand Am for the 1985 model year and continued building N-based cars through 1998. Most of these cars weren't interesting from an enthusiast standpoint, but a handful rolled off the assembly line with raucous DOHC Oldsmobile Quad 4 engines and manual transmissions, and those cars were plenty of fun. Here's a 1991 Grand Am with that rare setup, photographed in a self-service yard in California's Central Valley. The base engine in the 1991 Grand Am was the 110-horsepower, 2.5-liter pushrod Iron Duke, an engine that might have been fine on a Romanian tractor in 1953 but had no place on an American street car as the 21st century approached. Fortunately, GM started bolting the modern 2.3-liter DOHC Quad 4 engine into 1988 cars, and this was a proper four-cylinder. The Quad 4 ran a little rough and uncivilized, and it had its share of reliability problems, but you could rev the piss out of it and it made good power. In 1991, this engine was rated at 180 hp. That made this 2,592-pound sedan pretty quick. Unfortunately, the slushboxization of America had progressed with depressing rapidity during the 1980s, and by 1991 most Grand Am buyers — even the ones who opted for the Quad 4 — chose the automatic transmission. That didn't happen with this car, though — it boasts a rugged Getrag 5-speed instead of the happiness-amputating three-speed automatic. Yes, that's the kind of odometer reading you'd expect to see on an Accord or Maxima from this era. Someone loved this car and took care of it. Here we see an interesting mix of 1980s and 1990s car-radio technology. CD players in cars were still costly luxury items in 1991, seldom seen in affordable cars like the Grand Am, while 1980s-style slider-style EQ controls were on the way out. This Delco unit straddles both decades nicely. I seek out Quad 4-equipped cars during my junkyard travels, and I have photographed quite a few: this '89 Cutlass Calais, this '90 Cutlass Calais, this '90 Grand Am, this '91 Quad 442, this '93 Achieva SCX, and this '98 Cavalier Z24. It's a shame that Buick never put the Quad 4 in the Reatta, which was a fine car ruined by a somnolent and obsolete V6. The music in this ad is even more early-1990s than Crystal Pepsi. GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes
Mon, 31 Mar 2014When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:
