Pontiac Catalina Safari 3-Seat/9-Passenger Wagon Here at MissChiTown we are very proud to be the
marketing arm of so many car collectors that want to advertise on eBay.
As car collectors ourselves very often we really get into the cars that we are
marketing in terms of excitement and passion. It doesnt happen often but
sometimes some cars just check off all the boxes on the want list.
Some of those boxes can be important to collectors
who are looking to purchase a car, such as:
Getting the car from the original owner
Large, original, 1973 V8 motor to propel the car
into fast acceleration capable of cruising at 85-95 mph all day long (even
though it is not legal)
Matching Numbers
Original car with one re-paint to original color.
Original window sticker, original order form and a
lot more documentation that the original owner has kept all of these years.
Having a car that it is not only collectible but
very practical to drive on todays roads, a car that can accommodate a large
family (we know some collectors who get limousines for that purpose but they
can feel a little silly driving a limousine).
This is a big one point, getting a car from the 70s
that has FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING
Having the original miles documented by original
owner
Unusual accessories like the special wheel option.
Factory tinted glass
Rear window defroster from the factory
Posi-Traction equivalent
Factory AM/FM Radio
Ability to carry a family of nine in luxury.
Factory luggage carrier on the roof for luggage.
Deluxe gauges from that time period
The car is still in the factory color Burba Brown
with only one re-paint.
We mention all of the above because any car that
would have half of these positive items would make the car extra hot in the
collector market. We have to say that at MissChiTown that only a very few
times in our history of marketing collector cars have we had any one car that
could check off all the boxes. Yes this car features many of the
important features that collectors desire. If that does not make it one of
the hottest collector station wagons around we dont know what does. This
car in our opinion has multiple opportunities it can be displayed at a museum
with all its virtues listed on a big signboard or the virtues can be made use
of by a collector who wants to use the car as a collector tour car with his
family. We have yet to see a station wagon any time so well equipped with
an original owner, original order sheet, original window sticker and all of the
other items above. The following is a more inclusive description that
also includes the owners description. This very clean and original except
for one repaint in original Burma Brown is being offered by the original owner
is not something you will find often. This car has the third row seating
and cool disappearing power tailgate. When not hauling people around the
2 rear seats can be folded down giving a ton of storage space. You will love the power of the
400 cubic inch V8 with four barrel carburetor in the engine! Backing the
motor is a 400 Turbo Hydramatic transmission with no issues. The car was
fitted with Air Conditioning from the factory as well as power steering and
power brakes. The fit and finish is in beautiful
condition making it a contender at any car show you want to take it to.
The body is in beautiful condition and is very striking in the Burma Brown
paint complimented by the original Beige Naugahyde interior. Look closely
at the chrome and stainless we think you will appreciate how it shines.
The soft ray tinted glass windows are all in good condition. The factory
luggage rack is still mounted in place on the roof. The factory Rally II
wheels really are quite striking and give this car an edgy look. This car may have started out as a
family vehicle but now collectors look upon these cars as great collectibles
just for the Cool Factor. FROM THE BILL OF SALE for this 1973 Ponitac Safari

Want to buy a worst-in-show-winning Faux Ferrari Fiero?
Mon, Aug 31 2020UPDATE: This heap sold for $5,001. But don't fret, there are more terrible cars out there for the taking if that's your thing. Today we bring you something truly terrible. It's not just a fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero, it's actually the world's worst fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero. And it's got the award from the Concours d'Lemons to prove it. It's so heinous, in fact, that it has somehow managed to become desirable, at least judging by the bidding history of this bright red affront to Maranello. Powered by a 140-horsepower 2.8-liter V6 engine (covered by an unconvincing and broken fake V12 cover) hooked to an automatic gearbox, this gloriously poor Prancing Horse won't be winning many stoplight drag races. There are bundles of stray wires hanging down from the dashboard, it has high mileage, most of its lights don't work, and it's ugly. Like, really ugly. And to top it off, this Fauxrarri can't currently be registered in its home state of California because it has failed its most recent smog test. Put simply, you're looking at a total piece of junk. But a piece of junk with internet notoriety, having been featured on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage after attending the 2019 Quail Motorsports Gathering by mistake at first, and then earning a special place next to the porta potties Β being the focus of a video series on YouTube and winning the aforementioned ribbon for Worst in Show at Lemons. Somehow, bidding has topped $4,000 at the time of this writing. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Junkyard Gem: 1964 Pontiac Catalina Custom Ventura
Mon, May 22 2023Like Impala, Skylark, Malibu and Silverado (among many others), the Ventura name began its career as the designation for a trim level or option package used on another GM model, then became a model name in its own right. Initially a designation for a snazzed-up Pontiac Catalina two- or four-door hardtop, the Ventura name moved over to a Pontiac-ized version of the Chevy Nova for 1971. Today's Junkyard Gem, found in a Northern California car graveyard, proudly bears both CatalinaΒ and Ventura badging. Actually, the Catalina name itself started out as a trim level for the Chieftain and Star Chief models of the 1950s, just to confuse everybody. By the time this car was built, the Catalina was the cheapest of four Pontiac models built on the same full-size B-Body platform as the big Chevrolets and Olds 88s of the time (the Star Chief, Bonneville and Grand Prix ranked above it on the 1964 Pontiac Prestige-O-Meter). The 1964 Catalina four-door hardtop with the Custom Ventura package offered a lot of swank per dollar, with a price starting at $3,063. That's about $29,821 when converted to inflated 2023 dollars. The main benefit of the Custom Ventura package was an interior done up entirely in Morrokide upholstery. Morrokide was the name GM applied to Naugahyde fake leather when used in Pontiac vehicles; when used in Buicks, it was known as Cordaveen, while Oldsmobile Naugahyde was called Morocceen. Naugahyde took its name from the town of Naugatuck, Connecticut, where it was invented. This car's Morrokide is in rough shape. In fact, everything about this car is decayed and probably infectious. You know to be careful when a junkyard car has warnings about rat feces inked on the glass. That said, I couldn't resist examining the 8-track tapes that littered the interior. Here'sΒ Hotel California, the 1976 hit album by the Eagles. Supertramp'sΒ Paris, a live album recorded from the 1979 Breakfast in America tour, is here as well. Here'sΒ The Best of Carly Simon, from 1975. The tapes were played on this Sparkomatic player, which probably lived in the glovebox or under the seat. The factory radio was AM-only, and includes the frequency markings for the atomic-attack CONELRAD emergency frequencies. 1964 was the last year for mandatory CONELRAD radios in the United States.
Burt Reynolds Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am sells for $450k
Mon, Dec 15 2014Apparently, there's still a lot of love out there for by Burt Reynolds and his famous role in Smokey and the Bandit or at least for his car. As you might remember, Autoblog reported on the auction of the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am a few week ago. At the time, the movie star's car was already well past its $80,000 top estimate, and bidding only shot up from there for a final price of $450,000. That seems like a lot of money for a Trans Am that never actually appears in Smokey and the Bandit. According to the listing, the car was used to promote the film and was given to Reynolds afterward with his name on the title as proof of ownership. The Trans Am looks practically identical to the one in the movie with black paint, the gold firebird on the hood and Bandit name on the driver's door. This one packs a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor under the hood, an automatic transmission and a plaque inside the door that proclaims "1977 Pontiac Trans Am Owned By Burt Reynolds." The wedding stagecoach based on an International Harvester Scout we mentioned in the earlier story also beat its top estimate of $20,000. It went for $34,375, according to the auction house's website, and in total the sale raised about $2.5 million. Scroll down to read the full announcement from Julien's Auctions. LEGENDARY STAR BURT REYNOLDS PROVES TO BE AS ICONIC AS HIS AUCTION RESULTS "Smokey and the Bandit" Trans Am Sells for $450,000 Career Memorabilia including Awards, Personal Items and Film Worn Costumes along with Vast Art Collection from Reynolds Museum Caliber Private Collection Featured at Julien's Auctions This Week Brings in $2.5 million Las Vegas, Nevada Β (December 15, 2014) Β Julien's Auctions, the auction house to the stars concluded a whirlwind two-day auction of The Collection of Award Winning Actor Burt Reynolds. The exciting auction event featuring personal effects, career memorabilia, and a museum-caliber fine art collection took place at the Palms Casino Resort Thursday and Friday with bidders from around the world bidding high and bidding often. Burt Reynolds, best known as a leading film star, has had a storied career both on the big and small screen. Aside from his award winning portrayals of some of the world's most iconic characters in film and television, Reynolds is also a businessman who has owned a football team, a dinner theatre, a working ranch and even a museum.
