I have a freshly completed 1966 Pontiac Catalina 2 door HT - Ventura model - All original - Numbers Matching and excellent condition 389 4bbl, TH400, PS, PB, unsure of RE gear but its high. This is not a barn find nor does it need any panels replaced, its all done just 9 months ago. All body work and custom 2 stage paint done. Lots of new interior work done, headliner, custom double stitched dash pad, arm rest pads, sun visors, only 2 small tears in front seat cover. New Sun Pro tach and gauges too. New front windshield and chrome are new, new rear view mirror, new door locks with keys,  18" front and 20" wheels and tires new tire sixes are 245/40R 18 and 245/ZR40 20, tinted windows just installed, new Bluetooth hands-free stereo with usb and aux inputs for your phone or iPod with new kicker front and rear speakers. All lights interior and exterior are working. Heater works. Windshield wipers work. This is a really badass Pontiac. Can drive anywhere and any distance right now, this car gets excellent MPG on freeway. Most recent work was rear seal, trans service and motor front seal replaced, so all leaks tightened up 2 months ago as well. The dash on this car is beautiful and uncut, the stereo and gauges were installed under the dash. I have hand-controls on the car right now because I am a disabled driver. They will be removed and nothing was cut or altered on the car. I also DO have the original and painted rear fender skirts.

The car drives great with no known issues what so ever. Like I mentioned I just had the car gone through from a Top Shop here in town and had all little leaks and ALL fluids changed.  At that time I also had the suspension replaced, new coil springs on the front, new upgraded shocks on all four corners and of course a new alignment. The brakes were all replaced before I got the car, approx 1500-2000 miles on those, so the brakes work great with no issues as well. The complete underside is rust free and well as any body panels. There is no visible rust anywhere on this car.

The 389 4bbl motor starts right up and runs great with lots of power, the TH400 transmission shifts great as well. They are both low mileage Original numbers matching with no issues.  The Wheels and tires are new and have less than 500 miles on them. All headlights, license plate light, tail lights and turn signals work perfect. The Speedometer and odometer work, the gas gauge works as well.  I have tried to describe this as best as I can, you can always call and ask any questions.  have the clear AZ title in hand with no issues. Again please call with any questions, This is a running driving car with no damage anywhere and very road ready right now.  714-206-9667.

Looking Back At Oprah's Free-Car Giveaway 10 Years Later

Fri, Sep 12 2014

Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6." But this is not just any G6. This car is a part of television history. Vielweber won her G6 10 years ago at a taping of The Oprah Winfrey Show, when Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car. It was an unprecedented stunt that changed lives, generated controversy and ultimately failed to provide enough of a marketing lift for Pontiac, which would be shuttered just over five years later. September 13 marks the 10-year anniversary of the memorable event, which caught everyone, including audience members, by surprise. In a masterful display of showmanship, Oprah dialed up the suspense to match the enormity – and cost – of the event. First she gave away 11 cars, which would have been a landmark TV promotion by itself. But then she coyly announced: "I've got a little twist." Models circulated throughout the audience carrying silver platters loaded with white boxes wrapped in red ribbon. One contained a set of keys, Oprah implied, for another audience member to win the final car. "Do not open it. Do not shake it," she commanded the crowd. Finally, with the suspense built to a fevered pitch, everyone opened their box. They all had keys. "You get a car! You get a car! You get a car! You get a car! Everybody gets a car!" Oprah exclaimed. "Everybody gets a car! Everybody gets a car!" This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Everybody did get a car. But not everyone kept it. William Toebe attended the show with his wife, Jillaine, and he immediately thought of the tax implications, which stretched to $6,000 or more for some audience members. It was a tough reality for many in the audience that day, some of which had been selected based on their need for a new car. "That responsible part of me stepped forward and wondered 'where am I going to get the money to pay the taxes?'" he recalled.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

Sat, 16 Mar 2013

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Pontiac 6000 LE

Sat, Dec 2 2017

Sibling to the Chevrolet Celebrity and Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, the Pontiac 6000 sold pretty well during the early-to-middle 1980s, but had been relegated to the dealership bargain bin and fleet-car cul-de-sac by the time of Operation Desert Shield. Here's a final-year-of-manufacture 6000 LE that I photographed in an Arizona self-service wrecking yard. This car was sold new in Arizona, and it will be crushed in the same state, 26 years later. The LE was the cheapest trim level for the 6000 in 1991, but the original purchaser of this car sprang for a few options. For example, instead of the utterly miserable 2.5-liter Iron Duke four-cylinder, this car packs the 3.1-liter V6. That meant 140 horsepower instead of 110, plus an engine note more like a vacuum cleaner sucking up a spaghetti spill than an ailing blender chewing on walnuts. AM, FM, and cassette. Not only that, but the auto-reverse feature meant that your mixtape cassette wouldn't stop right in the middle of your favorite Roxette tune. This content is hosted by a third party. Even the wretched Daewoo-built Pontiac LeMans gets more screen time than the forgotten 6000 in this 1991 TV ad featuring the voice of Captain Picard.
