CONTACT JEFF AT 570 977 0741.  Up for sale and your consideration is a rare and beautiful 1963 Pontiac Catalina two door hardtop equipped with original 389 engine factory 3-speed manual transmission, 3.23 positraction rear and dual exhaust. Data plate lists style as 63-2347 Body PO7392 Trim 237, Paint LL and accessories as 1A 2A & 5A. Please take the time to look over all 24 photos that I have here on the listing.  I have even put this car up on a lift to photo the undercarriage to show the solid integrity of the car. I have many more photos available. Just give me a call and ask for more photos if you want them. I have in hand the PHS documentation report as well as PHS copy of the build sheet for this car.
DRIVELINE:
This Pontiac retains it's original driveline with 95983 miles on it. The original 4-barrel intake was replaced with a 2-barrel somewhere along the line. However a four barrel intake, carburetor, and air cleaner go with the car. The transmission is a 3-Speed manual with code A # 3748868 with a date code of L-12-12. Cylinder heads have a date code of L-17-2 Engine block is stamped 02B. Differential is a 3:23 posi-traction unit with Safe-T-Track differential tag still on it. Car runs drives and stops great. Some oil residue on the transmission crossmember indicates there are probably a few oil drips here and there but again, this is a 95000 mile original drivetrain in a 51 year old car. Engine has just been serviced with a fresh oil and filter change, new spark plugs, new air filter, new points and condensor, carburetor tuning and dwell set. The chassis has just been lubed. The motor runs absolutely fantastic.
UNDERSIDE:
Underside inspection reveals car was saved from major rust issues due to undercoating when new. Further inspection reveals a fresh rebuilt front suspension with new A-frame bushings, ball joints, shocks and springs.
BODY:
Body is painted with the original Code L Marimba Red and is near perfect with only a few minor touch-ups. Bumpers appear to have been replated. Glass is all perfect. Windshield is tinted. This car was obviously garage kept.
INTERIOR:
Interior is beautiful with replacement seat covers and carpet. Padded dash is excellent. Oil pressure and temperature gauges have been added to original dash. Wipers, heater, and radio are all working. Headlights, tail lights, stop lights, turn signals and interior lights are all working. Back up lights do not work. Car is equipped with factory optional original seat belts.
NOTE:
In my photo assortment you will see that I put a set of original 1960's Mickey Thompson 5-spoke mag wheels on the front and a set of Radir 775-15 Cheater Slicks on the rear to show how the car would look in Drag Racing Trim for potential buyers who may have a Super Duty Clone in mind. This wheel and tire package will ONLY be included with the car at the buy it now price. If the car is sold for anything less than buy it now price then the additional tire and wheel package will be available for a separate additional purchase price. The same applies for the California 1963 Black Tag
TERMS OF SALE:
This rare vehicle is being offered at a fair and reasonable price so a real working class car person can purchase and enjoy it. It's rarity, condition, and desirability all speak for themselves, as do the photos, documentation and my feedback rating. My summary of this car is based on a complete and thorough inspection, as well as servicing and driving the car, as well as conversation with the previous owner. I did not buy the car new so I don't have history of it dating back to 1963.  I can only give you the complete and thorough information that I have provided here on the car. I have in hand a clean title for this car showing actual mileage and antique status. Keep in mind that this is a 51 year old car. It is sold in AS-IS condition with no actual, expressed or implied warranty or guarantee of any kind. The day you buy the car it then becomes your car. No refunds or rebates. If you have any doubts about the condition or integrity of this car then I welcome and encourage you to come see the car in person by appointment to answer any questions that you may have. I would be proud to show you this car in person before the auction ends. It is not a restored car but has great curb appeal and can be enjoyed immediately.  It is in turn key and drive home condition.
Please check my 100% positive feedback and buy with confidence.  Feel free to ask any and all questions on the car. I have accurately and honestly described this car to the best of my knowledge. Payment for the car is as follows: FUNDS IN HAND and a local pickup is the most preferred, encouraged and accepted method of payment. Any other forms of payment must be discussed with me. I am not interested in trades of any kind.  An Ebay required $300 non-refundable paypal deposit will be paid by the winning buyer using either the buy it now option or winning buyer at the end of the auction to commit to the sale. Then come on out and pay for the car funds in hand and take it home. This is the easiest way to complete the sale. If a buyer requests shipping it will be their financial responsibility. I will be happy to recommend previously used shippers. I will also be happy to reasonably assist in the appointment set-up, pick-up and loading of the car. Again to be crystal clear should any prospective buyer have any questions whatsoever as to the integrity or condition of this car then I welcome and encourage the opportunity to show this car in person by appointment to answer any questions that you may have. My contact number is at the top and bottom of this ad to make it very easy for any potential buyer to reach me at. So lastly any questions at all on this fantastic Pontiac please don't hesitate to CONTACT JEFF AT 570 977 0741.  Thanks and good luck !

This 1988 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 pace car could be yours

Fri, Jan 29 2021

Hopefully, the fans of GM's W-body '80s/'90s intermediates can forgive us, but we had pretty much forgotten — or had never really known — that one of the ways that era's Pontiac Grand Prix bathed itself in glory was by serving as the pace car for the Daytona 500. In fact, the Grand Prix paced NASCAR's marquee race every year from 1988 to 1992, and again in 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2003. That first year, 1988, the Grand Prix was all-new, making its debut on the W-body platform. It was also Motor Trend's car of the year. The 1988 Daytona 500 marked the 17th year in a row that a Pontiac was chosen to set the pace but the first time a front-wheel-drive car was so honored. The '88 Grand Prix followed a spate of Pontiac Trans Ams. This '88 Grand Prix, for sale right now on eBay Motors, is presented as an actual pace car, although fans could order a complete set of pace car decals for their very own GP. The pace car is based on that year's top-spec Grand Prix, the SE. In place of the standard car's 2.8-liter V6, however, the pace car uses a modified 3.1-liter V6, which is hooked to a five-speed manual transmission. This Grand Prix is otherwise largely standard fare excepting the roof-mounted light bar, the switches for which are located next to the radio. The mechanical odometer tucked into the digital instrument cluster shows just over 5,000 miles, and presumably, not all of them were acquired on the high-banked oval. With four days to go in the auction, bidding sits at $4,000 with the reserve unmet. Although the reserve is unknown, one clue is that this Grand Prix had been listed by a classic-car dealership in Pennsylvania for $18,500. Besides the debut of the W-body Grand Prix pace car, the 1988 race is also notable for its final lap: Bobby Allison held off his son, Davey Allison, to take the checkered flag, with the father-son duo enjoying a 1-2 finish. Now, who wants to re-live those Grand Prix glory days? Get on your Pontiac and ride!   This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.

Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

Sun, Nov 28 2021

John DeLorean began his career working on Packard's Ultramatic Twin transmission, but he made his greatest mark on the automotive industry during his 1956-1969 tenure at GM's Pontiac Division. There, he helped develop the first production car engine with a quiet timing belt instead of a noisy chain, among other engineering feats, but his real fame came from the development of two money-printing models based more on marketing than machinery: the GTO and the Grand Prix. While the GTO gets all the attention now, the Grand Prix set the standard for the big-selling personal luxury coupes that sold like mad for decades to come. Today's Junkyard Gem is an example of the most powerful Grand Prix available at the turn of the century, found in a Denver-area self-service yard during the summer. The Grand Prix got front-wheel-drive for 1988 and a sedan version for 1990, but then something very beneficial happened in the 1997 model year: supercharging! Various flavors of the venerable 3.8-liter Buick V6 engine (itself based on the early-1960s Buick 215 V8 and thus cousin to the Rover V8) received Eaton blowers, starting in the 1992 model year. The Grand Prix didn't get its introduction to forced induction until the 1997 model year, but it kept the boosted option until the final Grand Prix rolled off the line in 2008 (the final Pontiac followed within a couple of years). This one made 240 horsepower, making it King of Grand Prix engines until the 2005 model year (when the GXP and its 303-horse V8 engine showed up). The very last year for a Grand Prix with a manual transmission was 1993 (there had been a three-pedal Grand Prix drought from 1973 through 1988, just to put things in perspective), so this car has the mandatory four-speed automatic. The Grand Prix lived on GM's W platform for its last two decades, making it sibling to the Impala, Regal, and Intrigue in 2001. Until the 2004 model year, every W-Body Grand Prix was built at Fairfax Assembly in Kansas City (no, the other Kansas City). Production of the final generation of Grand Prix took place in Ontario. It seems fitting that this car's final pre-crusher parking spot would be between two other GM products of the same era: a Monte Carlo and a Vibe. Junkyard Gem: 1988 Pontiac LeMans Sedan

Tue, Feb 7 2017

During the 1960s, the Pontiac LeMans was a sporty, rear-wheel-drive midsize car, the GTO's cheaper sibling. Through the 1970s and into the middle 1980s, the LeMans became a bit less youthful-looking but remained a traditional rear-wheel-drive Detroit machine with a V8 engine option. Then, starting in the 1988 model year, the LeMans name went onto a South Korean-built version of the misery-inducing, front-wheel-drive Opel Kadett E. These were dark days for the Pontiac marque; here's the proof, photographed at a San Francisco Bay Area self-service wrecking yard last month. This one didn't quite make it to the 100,000-mile mark. These cars were very, very cheap and sold reasonably well, but nearly all of the 1988-1993 LeManses are hatchbacks. I have seen a total of two Daewoo LeMans sedans during the last decade, and this is one of them. Under the hood, 74 raging Opel/Daewoo horsepower. This content is hosted by a third party. In the United States, the ads for the LeMans were all about the hatchback, and all about cheap excitement.
