Here for sale is a 1960 Pontiac Catalina Convertible  . The interior is 100% original it as had 1 replaced top and 1 one repaint in the 70's. The top had a tear in the front of it and during transport ripped the center of the top off. The top rails are in excellent condition with original felt liner intact. This car is very straight and has very minimal rust on the body the areas are in the front and rear of the wheel wells of the quarter panels very minimal. The surface spots on the paint are just that surface rust as you can see in the photos. There is a hole in the center of the drivers side front floor pan that I have a new replacement panel for.The drivers side rear floor pan was replaced ( they did a nice job on it but its not original style sheet metal). The trunk was fiberglass years ago, It's solid but it should be replaced for a correct restoration. There are a few small areas on the inner rocker panel/floor extension that can be cut out and replaced and the flat bottom of the rocker panels have some bubbling that can be replaced. The exterior outer rocker panels are in nice shape with the exception of a small spot on the passenger side quarter rocker seam. Would be an easy repair what I'm trying to say is this car is not a total rust bucket but in nice solid restorable car. It has a set of fender skirts in the trunk that are in very nice condition along with the original jack and spare tire. I brought the car home to my shop and changed the oil , lubed the cylinders , cleaned the points, disconnected the fuel line to a small gas can in the front grill pan and started the car up and it run unbelievably well. I preceded to do a complete brake job on the car to make it mobile . I replaced the wheel cylinders. The drums and brakes shoes were as new so I did not replace them, I Greased and packed all the bearings . I had all new brake hoses made ane purchased a brand new master cylinder and when I went to change the master cylinder it was frozen to the booster. So the car is not operable for transport loading it will need a new master cylinder and brake booster , However, I can try to install the master cylinder without the brake booster to see if I can get a brake pedal for loading but I can not guarantee that but I will do my best but with a new brake booster and flushed fuel tank the car would be moble. I have described this vehicle to the best of my ability . If you have less than 10 Ebay transactions please contact me before bidding or your bid will be retracted. I have the right to end this auction anytime as this vehicle is listed locally. I have described this vehicle to best of my ability ,but should you have any further questions or request any further photos please contact me by phone at (813) 393-8705 as my time on the computer is limited. A $500.00 deposit is due within 48 hours after auctions end and the balance is due 7 days after auctions end. Jay Leno tries out a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge that looks factory fresh

Tue, Jan 31 2017

The latest machine to show up on Jay Leno's Garage is arguably the most iconic Pontiac GTO, the 1970 Judge. The example here is a radically red model and features all of the nifty Judge features, such as the mega-size rear wing, hood-mounted tachometer, and ram air hood scoop. The latter of which had a panel in the hood that would open up at full throttle to let in all that cool air from outside. The car is owned by the Wade Kawasaki, president of Coker Tires, a company that specializes in reproducing classic tires. Not surprisingly, his GTO features a set of the company's Firestone Wide Oval tires. That particular tire would have come with the car originally, but these new versions are built like modern radial tires, rather than the slippery bias-ply originals. The tires are indicative of how Kawasaki restored the rest of his Judge. Everything has been taken back to factory-spec. It has a stock, 400-cubic inch V8 that makes a supposedly underrated 366 horsepower, and it's complete with the chrome valve covers and foam intake seal. The tires are accompanied by exact replica GTO Judge wheels. The car even has the true, original interior. Somehow, the upholstery, dash, and other interior components survived in excellent condition. Check out the video above for more details on this flashy muscle car, as well as some reminiscing about the "good ol' days," and some history on the origins of the car's name. Related Video:

World's only 1964 Pontiac XP-833 Banshee coupe for sale by Kia dealer

Mon, Apr 20 2020

It seems like there has been a spate of especially odd car sales in the first part of this especially odd year, from the numerous barn finds and homebrew specials to the time capsule cars — like the BMW wrapped in a protective bubble for 23 years. Napoli Kia in Milford, Connecticut, brings us another, via Motor1. Len Napoli is the dealership principal and die-hard Pontiac maven; his father opened Napoli Pontiac in 1958, and Len held onto the franchise until the early 2000s, just before GM shuttered the brand that built excitement. Napoli got hold of the 1964 Pontiac Banshee XP-833 coupe concept, and put the car up for sale through his Kia dealership for $750,000. The exceptional price comes from the fact that Pontiac built two Banshee concepts in 1964, one this silver coupe with a red interior, the other a white roadster, making each concept a one-of-one collector car.      Motor Trend wrote a detailed piece on this one in 2013, the editorial tour hosted by Bill Collins, the Banshee's lead engineer. The short story is that GM exec John Z. DeLorean — yes, him —  gave approval to a small crew at Pontiac to create a two-seater sports car to compete with the Mustang, because GM had nothing to fend off the four-seat coupe that would sell one million units in just 18 months on the market. Collins and his team took inspiration from the 1963 Corvair Monza GT concept, working up a fiberglass body over a steel frame, with a 230-cubic-inch overhead-cam straight-six producing 165 horsepower and 216 pound-feet of torque, a four-speed manual transmission, and 9.5-inch drum brakes at all corners. The idea was that the XP-833 would be "an affordable and fun two-seat sports car," the concept demonstrating the base-model price leader offering a lengthy list of options for those who wanted more. The white roadster, in fact, fitted a 326 cubic-inch V8 under the hood. Rumor says that Chevrolet execs didn't like having another two-seater sports car in the GM fold, especially one with a fiberglass body that held weight down to 2,200 pounds. GM execs took one look at the two concepts in 1965 and shut the project down. The two XP-833s lived in a garage for years, Collins and his colleague Bill Killen getting permission to buy the cars from GM in 1973 before Collins left to help engineer the DeLorean DMC-12. It wasn't until just before Collins departed that the XP-333 got the name Banshee.

Best and Worst GM Cars

Thu, Apr 7 2022

Oh yes, because we just love receiving angry letters from devoted Pontiac Grand Am enthusiasts, we have decided to go there. Based on a heated group Slack conversation, the topic came up about the best and worst GM cars. First of all time, and then those currently on sale, and then just mostly a rambling discussion of Oldsmobiles our parents and grandparents owned (or engineered). Eventually, three of us made the video above. Like it? Maybe we can make more. Many awesome GM cars are definitely going unmentioned here, so please let us know your bests and worsts in the comments below. Mostly, it's important to note that this post largely exists as a vehicle for delivering the above video that dives far deeper into GM's greatest hits and biggest flops, specifically those from the 1980s and 1990s. What you'll find below is a collection of our editors identifying a best current and best-of-all-time choice, plus a worst current and worst-of-all-time choice. Comprehensive it is not, but again, comments. -Senior Editor James Riswick Best Current GM Vehicle Chevrolet Corvette We were flying by the seats of our pants a bit in this first outing and my notes were similarly extemporaneous. When it came time to tie it all together on camera, I failed spectacularly. Thank the maker for text, because this gives me the opportunity to perhaps slightly better explain my convoluted reasoning. I chose the C8 Corvette because it's simply overwhelmingly good, and it's merely the baseline from which this generation of Corvette will be expanded.  While the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (more on that in a minute) is an amazing snapshot of GM's current performance standing and its little sibling so enraptured me that I went out and bought one, their existence is fleeting. Corvette will live on; forced-induction Cadillac sport sedans, not so much. So while all three are amazing machines when viewed in a vacuum, the Corvette stands above them as both a reflection of GM's current performance credentials and a signpost of what is to come. So, given the choice between the C8 and the 5V-Blackwing right now, I'd choose the C8. In 10 years, when the Blackwing is no longer in production and Corvette is in its 9th generation? Well, that might be a different story. Now, just pretend I said something even remotely that coherent when we get to the part of the video where I try to make an argument for the 5-V Blackwing as best GM car I've ever driven. Or just laugh at me while I ramble incoherently.
