Up for auction is this used 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SLE.
I purchased this car six years ago from a dealer. It had just under 65k miles on it at that time. Now, it has 241.5k miles. This has been my work car and it has many highway miles on it. I am selling it to make room for a new (used) car I am buying in a few weeks.
The engine and transmission are strong, but it needs work. It shakes very bad when the brakes are applied. It will most likely need a complete brake job to include rotors and perhaps calipers. Also, it has a good shake at speeds ~ above 40 mph. But it doesn't shake all the time. Sometimes the shake is terrible and other times it is barely present. I do not know what it needs to get that to stop. I have not brought it in - I've just been dealing with it until now. I've parked it for the last week because the shaking just got too much for me to handle.
The engine oil has been changed regularly. The engine does not sputter, misfire, smoke, miss, hiccup or tick. I've never tuned it up, but it always starts and runs.
The transmission is good, too. It was rebuilt with 202k miles on the car in September of 2011.
It has working power windows and locks, radio - cd player with controls on steering wheel, cruise control, wipers, climate control. It has a power driver seat, but not passenger.
It has a moonroof, but I believe the motor is bad - I had to pull it shut while holding the button a couple years ago and never opened it since.
The head liner is coming down in front and back and it is missing from the moonroof lid.
The fog light bulbs are both burned out.
There is a windshield crack running at dashboard level from side to side. It's so low I forget it is there.
The check engine light has been on for years. Last time I had it diagnosed they said I need a new gas cap - never got one.
Here are the repairs I have on file:
3/12 - replace sway bar end links, replace rear air shocks, rear passenger adjustment link arm (drivers needs replacement).
7/09 - replace oil sending unit and purge vent valve.
2/13 - replace brake line in front of gas tank.
7/10 - replace passenger front hub bearing assy and outer tie rod ends.
I've never had any exhaust work done - it has never needed it.
Since I have owned this car it has not been in an accident of any kind. It has not been smoked in. I eat in it, but the interior has not been stained.
There is rust on the left rear quarter and a couple paint chips on the aluminum hood. The rims are aftermarket aluminum - the originals would not seal after awhile.
Tires are Yokohama YK580 with maybe 50% tread remaining.
I have honestly entered all information to the best of my ability. Please refer to my feedback, if needed.
This car is only being offered on this site. It is not listed in a newspaper or any other website. I will not end the auction early and please do not bid unless this is the car you have been looking for.
Thanks for looking.

GM recalling 1.4 million older vehicles for oil leak fire risk
Tue, Oct 27 2015General Motors is recalling 1,411,332 older vehicles with its 3.8-liter V6 yet again due to a fire risk. Specifically, there are 1,283,340 of them in the US, and the affected models are the: 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue 1997- 2004 Buick Regal The fault with these vehicles is that oil can drip onto the hot exhaust manifold during hard braking, which can potentially cause of fire. In the last six years, there have 19 reported minor injuries from this problem but no crashes or fatalities, according to the company. Spokesperson Alan Adler also told Autoblog: "GM has reports of 1,345 fires in vehicles that were repaired under two previous recalls for this issue." At this time, GM is still developing a remedy for the problem. According to Adler, the company advised owners to park these vehicles outside for the previous recalls. "The cars can be safely driven. In cases where a customer reported an engine fire while driving, smoke was reported, which would be an indication of a malfunction," he said. This is GM's fourth recall for this problem since 2008, according to The Detroit News. At one point it was believed that aging valve cover gaskets allowed the oil to leak out and drip onto the manifold. A campaign in 2009 covered nearly 1.5 million of these models through the 2003 model year for the same issue. At the time, dealers installed new spark plug wire retainers as a fix. Related Video: GM Statement: General Motors is recalling 1,283,340 older sedans and coupes in the U.S. from the 1997 to 2004 model years because drops of oil may be deposited on the hot exhaust manifold through hard braking, which can cause engine compartment fires. GM is working on a remedy. The company is aware of post-repair fires in some vehicles but no crashes or fatalities. There have been 19 reported minor injuries over the last six years. These vehicles with 3.8-liter V6 3800 engines are affected: 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala, 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina and 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue and 1997-2004 Buick Regal. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population is 1,411,332.
Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way
Tue, 21 Feb 2012There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
Burt Reynolds' personal 1977 Trans-Am from Smokey And The Bandit for sale
Fri, Dec 5 2014Smokey and the Bandit is one of those quintessential 1970s car movies with insane premises but tons of fun. After all, the basic plot of the film is about distracting the police to transport cases of Coors beer cross country. While Burt Reynolds receives top billing, the real star is definitely his black Pontiac Trans-Am. Now, there's a chance to posses one of these muscle machines actually owned by Reynolds, and it's already proving quite popular. The car is a '77 Trans-Am with the famous, gold screaming chicken proudly on the hood. However, while this is a piece of Reynolds memorabilia, it's not really part of cinematic history. According to the listing, this example was used as a promotional vehicle and then given to Reynolds with a title showing him as a previous owner for proof. Still, there's 400-cubic-inch (6.55-liter) V8 under the hood with a 4-barrel carburetor and an automatic transmission. A plaque inside the driver's door proclaims the car as a "1977 Pontiac Trans Am Owned By Burt Reynolds," and there's a Bandit logo on the door. This is just one lot of Julien Auction's sale of Reynolds memorabilia on December 11 and 12 at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV. Bidding is already running online, and the Trans-Am is up to $130,000, as of this writing. For the true Reynolds fanatic, the auction also lists the motorized stagecoach from his wedding to Loni Anderson. It rides built on an International Harvester Scout frame with an interior reportedly from Dolly Parton.
