1973 Pontiac Bonneville 4dr 400 T400 Ac Ps Pb **low Low Miles** Florentine Red on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
This 1973 Pontiac Bonneville is a time-capsule. The interior is like-new with the only flaw being that the foam on the driver's side seat bottom is flattened out - it's forty years old, it deserves to be flattened out a bit doesn't it?
We are the 4th owners of this beauty. The first gentleman bought is new after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. After he passed away, his wife parked the car under her carport and left it there for many years. Eventually, the local high school marching band put out a call for donations to purchase new uniforms and equipment and she decided to donate the Bonneville to their cause. They raffled off the car and the 2nd owner won it by purchasing a single $5 ticket! He kept it for many years and showed it periodically before selling it to the 3rd owner, who drove it home from Ohio (I think) to Texas and parked it and only drove it periodically. We purchase the Bonneville from the owner in Texas and he delivered it to us here in Las Vegas! The Bonneville is ALL-MATCHING with a 400 CID engine with 2-barrel carb, A/C (currently not working, unfortunately), PS, and PB. The previous owner told us he had tried to convert the AC to R134 and it worked for a while and then failed. We haven't tried to repair it. We have replaced the spark plugs, rebuilt the carburetor and installed new gas-charged front shock absorbers and air-shocks on the rear (to replace the originals which were leaking). We also installed a new thermal fan clutch but still have the original, dated clutch. The only really noticeable issue on this Bonneville is that it was parked under a tree full of NASTY BIRDS at some time in its' life - probably while living in Texas (out in the country) and the paint on the hood, roof and trunk is covered with bird-dropping-caused burned marks. We had the top surfaces wet-sanded and buffed which helped tremendously, but it's still burned pretty bad when you look for it. It looks great driving down the road, just not show car quality. It could easily be stripped and repainted to put it back into top condition. The side vinyl moldings are not factory (and also are not quite straight, with a few wobbles and waves). There is also a bit of damage on the front of the passenger's side rear door and the rear of the passenger's side front door - maybe something got slammed in the door? This is clearly shown in the pics. The car starts right up and drives down the road well. Mechanically it is in excellent condition. All electrical items such as turn signals, brake lights and headlights work correctly. I will verify the actual mileage and update the auction tomorrow. I recall that it is around 25-27k. Please email any questions. I can get pictures of any specific areas, but no picture collectors, please. Thank you for taking the time to look at our auction! GOOD LUCK! |

General Motors Recall List
Wed, Oct 22 2014It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. It seems General Motors can't go more than a few weeks without issuing a major recall. Since the initial ignition lock recall on February 10, over 25 million vehicles have been recalled for defects. We used the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall list to compile a snapshot of all the GM vehicles recalled in the last two months. NHTSA also provides a search engine that allows owners to search for recalls on their vehicle. An automotive company must do everything in their power to notify its customers when a recall is issued on a vehicle. If you own any of the following vehicles and you have questions regarding your car, you can contact Chevrolet at 1-866-694-6546, GMC at 1-866-996-9463, Buick at 1-800-521-7300 and Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339. Or check out General Motor's recall site. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov. Here's a brief summery of the other vehicles currently under recall: July 26 – 414,333 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V447000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal and Chevrolet Camaro, as well as certain 2010-2012 Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, equipped with power height adjustable driver and passenger seats. Problem: In the affected vehicles, the bolt that secures the driver's and passenger's power front seat height adjuster may fall out causing the seat to drop suddenly to the lowest vertical position. Consequence: If the driver's seat unexpectedly drops, the distraction and altered seat position may affect the drivers' control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Solution: Dealers will replace the height adjuster shoulder bolts, free of charge. July 14 – 16,939 cars affected NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V341000 Models under recall: Certain model year 2011 Cadillac CTS vehicles manufactured October 18, 2010, to June 2, 2011. Problem: In the affected vehicles, vibrations from the drive shaft may cause the vehicle's roll over sensor to command the roof rail air bags to deploy. Consequence: If the roof rail air bags deploy unexpectedly, there is an increased risk of crash and injury to the occupants.
GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
Junkyard Gem: 1987 Pontiac Firebird
Sat, May 9 2020From 1967 through 2002, the Pontiac Division offered the Firebird, close sibling to the Chevrolet Camaro. By the third generation, which debuted for the 1982 model year, it became more difficult to tell the two F-body cars apart at a glance and the Pontiac-exclusive engines of the earlier years disappeared, but the Firebird still retained its own personality and its own position in the GM marketing hierarchy. I still find the occasional 1982-1992 Camaro as I search car graveyards for interesting stuff, but the corresponding Firebirds have become scarce in recent years. Here's a base-engine-equipped '87, its Bright Red paint (yes, that was the official name for the color) faded by the Colorado sun as it awaits the crusher. Firebird shoppers had their choice of three engines in 1987: A 5.7-liter Chevy V8 (210 hp), a 5.0-liter Chevy V8 (205 hp) and the same 2.8-liter 60° V6 that went into the Fiero and countless front-drive GM sedans (135 hp). This car has the base engine. The third-gen F-body didn't weigh much (3,105 pounds for the '87 with six-banger, about what a 2020 Corolla weighs), so 135 horses was tolerable. Plenty of these cars got T-5 5-speed manual transmissions, but this one got the two-pedal setup. Camaro wheels, of course. Our Friend the Carburetor didn't disappear from new cars until the early 1990s in the United States, though electronic fuel injection had become very commonplace by 1987. Still, GM considered this car's EFI worth a door-handle brag. It's not worth fixing up a mashed six-cylinder third-gen Firebird, so we can see the route this car took to its final parking space.
