1964 Pontiac Bonneville Two Door on 2040-cars
Fortuna, California, United States
This Bonneville has spent it's entire life in California. It was built in Southern California and has spent time there and in Northern California. It has an original NASA sticker on the back bumper and I believe that the original owner worked there in Pasadena. I purchased it out of Venice California and it now resides in very Northern California. Has original rear black and yellow plate, front plate is a copy. I was told that the paint is original but I do not think so. The finish is very nice however. The interior is original and very nice and clean. There is only one tear on the passenger side seat seam. I found the original steering wheel in the trunk and put it back on. the steering wheel has the typical cracking. Dash is very nice, some interior chrome has minor pitting. Wood is good on dash panel and dash top is beautiful. It had chrome wheels when I bought it but I put on used Pontiac wheels (sand blasted and painted) and found four nice hub caps to add to the originality. It has 50,700 miles on it. Person I bought the car from says miles are original. The horn and radio do not work. The front seat is power and does work. Air cleaner is chrome. Valve covers are not original, the originals are in the trunk. (I painted the valve covers Pontiac aqua and the air cleaner is black) The engine runs fine but can take a few pumps of gas to start. Throaty sound. No rust issues except for the trunk. Leaks oil one drop a week. I am getting out of the old car hobby. I have sold three other old cars. I prefer not to sell out of the United States this time around as two of the three I sold went to France and Australia and it was a huge headache. This car has the power! Probably needs alignment as it pulls to the right when braking. I am not a mechanic and do not work on my own cars so I cannot tell you a whole lot about the mechanics but will answer what I can. Please email me if you want my phone number. And email me for specific pictures. I hope to add more before the auction ends. The Bonneville is in Fortuna, CA. Humboldt County. About 125 miles south of the Oregon border, ten miles from the ocean. PS Ignore date on the pictures. They were taken week of May 10 2014. I cannot get the camera to change the date.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT
Fri, 10 Oct 2014The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.
GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners
Fri, 28 Oct 2011This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.
David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction
Tue, 08 Apr 2014Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.
