1962 Pontiac Bonneville 2 Door Hardtop Barn Find on 2040-cars

Year:1962 Mileage:94784
Location:

Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States

Up for auction is a 1962 Pontiac Bonneville. The car has sat since 1971, it has 94784 original miles. It runs good with no smoke out of exhaust. I have it currently running with a gasoline "I.V." as the fuel pump is bad and fuel lines are rotted. the car does move forward and in reverse like it should but I have not driven it due to no brakes and tires are old. It has p/s, p/b, a/c, p/antenna and trunk light. The a/c is complete and still has the belt hooked up, the compressor does engage but of course doesn't blow cold. it does have the original 303 hp 389 engine and trans. I bought the car from the original owner's family along with various Pontiac parts. It is a 1 owner car, I have the clear NM title from 1967 and some of the paper work for the release of lien and application for NM title dated 1967. The original owner owned a local auto parts store and bought the car new in Amarillo, TX and spent it's whole life in Albuquerque, NM. The paint and interior are original and has never been wrecked, no paintwork ever as far as I can tell. there are a few rust spots that I have pictured, in front of the rear tires and in the trunk other than that the car is super solid. I have the original radio but the volume mast is broken, the original jack assembly and spare is there, just removed them for pics of the trunk. The original air cleaner is missing along with 1 hubcap, other than that the car is pretty complete. It has 1958 Pontiac hubcaps on it now just for aesthetics. I also have the original keys. The car has not been modified from original everything is stock. This is a no reserve auction. I reserve the right to end the auction early as I have it for sale locally. If you have any questions please e-mail or call Paul (505) 263-3077. Buyer responsible for shipping, thank you and good luck!

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."

NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.
