1971 PLYMOUTH VALIANT SCAMP

VIN: VH23G1R186112

TITLE: Clear title in hand with a VIN that's matches the car.

HISTORY: I can tell and prove lots of history on this little muscle car. The past owner

saved lots of things like, the original window sticker, the owners manual, the build sheet

and lots of receipts. He put them all in a binder and it will come with the car. The car

was sold here in Knoxville, Tennessee. It lived here and was taken to a small town near

Cincinnati in 2010, or that's the way I read the supplied information and receipts. The

past owner started restoring the car in around 2004 and it has been on going. The car

was not born with the 360 engine, it was added new according to the records, the car

was born with a automatic transmission and was converted to a rebuilt 4 speed A-833,

the receipts show this.

PHOTOS/PICTURES: Ebay Motors make it hard to find all the pictures, I do have more

pictures listed, just scroll on the right side of the pictures and you will find more.

For your consideration I have a good looking, fast 1971 Plymouth Scamp. It has a strong

360 engine, sublime lime paint, black vinyl top, 4 speed manual transmission, pistol grip

Hurst shifter, rally wheels, BF Goodrich tires, nice black interior, clear glass, nice

chrome, disc brakes on the front, power steering, after market gauges, up graded sway

bars, AC, and the big thing is that its a very solid car.

WILL I SELL OFF EBAY? Sure, I want to sell the car and I know lots of you don't

have PayPal and ebay accounts.

The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying

the vehicle, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where

the car is located and how to pay and contact information.

IS IT A MATCHING NUMBERS CAR? No!!!!! The engine is now a larger 360 cubic inch

and the 4 speed transmission has been added.

IS THIS A REAL Scamp?  I think so, but I'm sure no expert on them.

ENGINE: Good running 360 cubic inch engine, no knocks, no rattles, no bad oil leaks,

"I will not guarantee you it won't leave a drop on your nice clean floor, but its pretty

dry. The notes from the past owner says it was a new engine, its a good one.

TRANSMISSION: Its a 4 speed manual A-833 that has been rebuilt, all the receipts

are supplied. The clutch is good and the Hurst pistol grip shifter is smooth.

EXHAUST SYSTEM: It has the deep loud muscle car sound, it is not new, but good

condition. The mufflers are by Flow Master and the headers are non coated full tubes.

PAINT: I consider the paint good.  I think the color is what is called sublime lime or l

ime light, they are the same. No rust bubbles, no dents, no big dings, the car is

straight when you look down the sides. The paint is nice, but its not a $20,000 paint

job, I see 3 or 4 tiny touched up stone chips.

VINYL TOP: Looks extra good.

CHROME: Not all new, but nice chrome and bright work.

GLASS: The windshield looks good with no cracks and it not milky.

SOUND SYSTEM: A decent sound system with AM FM CD mounted under the dash.

INTERIOR:  Nice black interior, its not brand new, but has no real wear. The

 headliner is good.

WHEELS AND TIRES:  Factory rally wheels, the tires are good BF Goodrich.

LIGHTS: The headlights work, tail lights work, brake lights work, dome light not

working.

GAUGES: The gas gauge works,  the other gauges are mounted under the dash.

WIPERS WORK! PARKING BARKE WORKS!

REAR-END: It has no growls or whines, it is a good highway gear and not positive

traction.

AIR conditioning and heat: One of the AC hoses had a crack, past owner said it blew

at a car show late fall. We have a new one ordered and should be here today. The

heater core is by passed, it probably leaks and I don't have time to fix it, a new

 core cost $37.

HOW IS THE PANEL FIT? I think it is good, the doors and trunk open good.

ARE ALL THE BODY PANELS ORIGINAL? They all look original to me, the floors look

original as well as the quarters.

THINGS WRONG WITH THE CAR:  One AC hose is leaking, but I have a new one

coming. The heater core is by passed and the dome light is not working. I'm probably

missing something, but it can't be much.

WHY DON'T I FIX EVERYTHING: The car is very usable the way it is, the price

keeps going up the more I do and its harder to sell and a big reason is that I have too

 many projects started.

WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town

of Athens, TennesseeAthens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the

foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee “I am truly qualified to

be called a Hill Billy”. I am 67 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 41.

I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars.

For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center

here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook

helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year

in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married

to the same good woman for 44 years.

LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE!

Sorry, I do not show cars on Sunday! I worship on Sunday, I spend time with my family,

I'm 67 years old and need some rest. I love cars and will help you 6 days a week, but

 not on Sunday.

Sorry, I do not do videos. I'm old and just don't enjoy doing them.

HAS THE CAR BEEN IN A ACCIDENT? I see no signs of accident damage, the frame

looks straight, the sheet metal is not wrinkled up that I see, by law the title has to

state it if the car has ever been in a bad accident and it does not.

TRADES:

Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard!

CONTACT INFO: my cell telephone number is 423-506-8987, I do not answer

when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time.

Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day.

cell 423-506-8987                                 email: dreamcar@live.com

PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but

we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US

 and exported many.

THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the

right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR

 SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET.

WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in Athens, Tennessee

. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville and 50 miles north

of Chattanooga. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville.

I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303.

The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has

 no commercial flights.

Transport US OR EXPORT “I like Nations Auto Transport". They are located

 in Kansas City.

Contact: Jim Page his office number is 816-295-6887 and his email is jpage@shipnat.com

MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303.

I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40,

so transport is usually very fast.

PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car.

I will take paypal for the deposit, but not for full payment.

Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face.

Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had

a fake bank certified check.

Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a

member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire

transfer. And its safe for both of us.

WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED?

Its good business for both of us the take a deposit. A $250 deposit locks it in

for you! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy

and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or

they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure

the car is not sold. “The way I look at it is until you pay a deposit you’re just

 looking and dreaming”.

INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy.

All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car

as I see it as a 67 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge

the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors have to be very critical

to cover their back sides. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking,

but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the

person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to

inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect,

come inspect first!

If you are not registered with ebay motors, I will work with you,

 "YOU CAN BUY DIRECT".

BOTTOM LINE: Sorry, but my price is $14,800 and I'm asking more on the local

market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price and come down. It’s not fun

to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away

and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold

every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down.

WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION;

YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY.

Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info.

Thank You,

Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com

I am very careful about taking payment, I have had a fake certified check, it looked real

and the buyer seemed real. I will take one, but I will check you out. I am ebay varified,

that means you can buy ebays buyer protection plan and they will guarantee thats I'm

real, they will not guarantee the car.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
