53 Plymouth Cambridge Custom Hot Rat Rod Chevrolet Ford Dodge Bel Air Tudor Dlx on 2040-cars
Santa Ana, California, United States
Up for grabs is this 1953 Plymouth Cambridge... Before you write this SOB off for being a Plymouth let me just ask you a question. Why are you looking for an old school car? Because you want something different, something that is the complete opposite of everything you see on the streets today (the wussy prius, the moped, the mini van, ughhh the honda). Here is your answer, a loud, ugly, 61 year old, made in the USA Plymouth. It has a flat black paint job, with a little bit of sparkles thrown in. The white scallops with gold' ish pin stripes around them and the job on the trunk lid (see pictures). Other than that nothing overly flashy. The body doesn’t have any major dents/dings, pretty damn straight. No rust (at least none that I know of). All the windows are solid (no cracks), and original. There is however one flaw in the paint, if you look at the pictures of the roof the paint peeled a little. The girlfriend placed something heavy on the roof while during a storm. (primer is showing) Other than that, the body is in very very good condition. The interior is very very basic. However the dash has been repainted and pin striped. It also has a hidden Sony stereo receiver in the dash. Has a custom stereo with a bass tube in the back. Side panels are serape but it still needs carpet. The headliner is a maybe? The car has only been driven in summer/good weather. The rest of the time its just been stored away. The engine is a rebuilt Chevy 350 small block. Very smooth installation. No problems with it whatsoever. It always starts up. Like I said it has only been driven in fair weather as a cruiser so it hasn't been over used and still has plenty of life. The automatic transmission also came out with the engine. It has P-R-N-D-2-1. Don’t have much to say about drive train because it is very basic and has never been a problem. Steering is original meaning no power steering and also no power brakes. The tires also have plenty of tread left on them. Everything works flawlessly but, I'm just putting it out there for anybody who thinks these are as easy to drive as a modern car. It takes some skill to maneuver these. Not for the weak of heart.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]
Mon, 16 Jun 2014
We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars
Wed, 30 Jul 2014The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
