68 Gtx Mm1 Bronze Beauty Super Clean Undercarriage And Paint Job And Low Priced on 2040-cars
San Diego, California, United States
1968 PLYMOUTH GTX with a non matching 72 H 440 motor with some 68 gtx extras that make it just like a commando motor the rest is original 727 Torqflight automatic transmission the mileage is 97k and the odometer is working. The rear drive is a 8 3/4 3.23 sure grip posi. I already pressed the gas just probabally 1/4 way and it burns the tires and stays where its at so 375 or 350 or 373 hp is more than enough for a non track car (lol).
Overall condition is very good. The car is not a perfect 10 show car but is a well above- average driver quality vehicle but can be a show car for many, that don't have 30 to 60k to spare, and beleive me this car is jaw dropping gorgeous just at first site and then after looking closely at it and examining it further like the engine bay and the underneath you will know that a good professional restoration was done to this car. I will post as many pictures of some of the body work I seen done to it I know this car was very rust free before and the restoration was done on all the original cars metal floors, quarters, fenders, trunk and all its original sheet metal. All glass was removed and the undercarriage was easy to mediablast because there was no underseal and it still showed some of the bronze factory paint then it was primered sealed and polypainted, of course all drive train was then bolted back on like new again. So you see unlike some of these other special cars reaching as much as 35k and more out there but still are original and when I say original meaning very worn and dull and dirty underneath called (survivors) or barn cars. You get more of your moneys worth and the price is not so steep.( And remember this is not a clone it is a real one) that will only go up like gold. The car was stripped to bare metal and did not have any rust through nor bondo and the body work was well done to have the panels and fenders and all to a very straight non flaw surface paint was matched to the original MM1 turbine bronze but was applied in a two stage and then buffed out to a nice wet look. Some of the gtx parts were bought new and some were eather sandblasted or wirecleaned and repainted to there original looks but mostely nothing was ignored or left out. It has new rubber, chrome and polished stainless everywere it should. The glass is great condition exept for some small swirl marks on right quarter and some tiny ruffness on front windsheild corner. A new gas tank and sending unit was put on and all the electricall was gone through all gages work exept for the temperature gage. It has a simple economic needle gage indicating car running cold since it has no thermastat and the radiator circulates just fine. So all lights work including signals and when you open the door headliner light and console lights work. The heater blows and the buttons work. Vents open and close. Wipers work and have new amco refills. It also has a new battery and a clutch fan. We bought this car with this motor and drivetrain running and driving I do not know how new this motor is but it is a turn key start rightup car I don't see smoke coming out the back exhaust and it has a set of 68 hp manifolds customely attached to a new 3" exhaust system and flowmasters. It sounds great. The transmission shifts fine and we drove the car around town and 50 mile round trip and did not come back with a frown just with a smile and alot of thumbs up. The gtx now has new shocks and suspension parts and drives and feels tight and the 600 dllr woodgrain steering wheel stays pretty straight when cruising. The interior is in very good condition new repro factory re upolstered front and rear seats with nice plymouth eblem The dash is new, headliner new, rear package tray new and door panels. Carpet is in good condition. The console was reconditioned but is not new, driver quality but looks nice. It has the original am radio but is not working. The gtx has a clean california title and a fender tag that match the vin. Some things that it will need: The windsheild washer sistem (squirter)I Looks like it will need the brakes checked because it has new brake shoes but I was told by brake shop that it needs a booster or adjustement. Tires are good but not new, the rims are 14" magnums with nice beauty rings. It will need a right rear wheel lip moulding I lost one of them. If you have an email I can send you more pictures but please only serious buyers with enough money, the ending deal on this will be pretty fair and the winning bidder will have scored. (PRICED TO SELL) We have decided to let this car go because it is my daughters and she probabally wants a hummer or something more suitable instead. Ok so hopefully ive described this car and it helps and recommend if you can come see it and inspect it in person or send a rep or freind that would reassure your getting a good deal. You can call me my name is Ed at (619)847-7679 for any other questions. |

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars
Sat, 18 Jan 2014The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]
Mon, 16 Jun 2014
We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
