Here's your next Winter project!  This auction is NOT for the black car.  That was to get your attention... worked, eh?

1962 Plymouth Fury Body and real deal MAX WEDGE motor.

I have been assembling the bits and pieces to put this car together for quite a while, but now that I have it all, we are buying a new house and need to liquidate some of my cars (look at my other listings!) to pay for it.

Engine ~ This motor came off of eBay and I paid $16,100 for it.  When purchased, it was complete and had never been apart.  It was a "ran when parked" piece that was pulled in the late 60s and is completely original.  Look at the photos and you will see it has all of the correct part and casting number for every single piece, part, and bolt.  It had never been apart until I purchased it and discovered a flat lobe on the cam.  The motor has been stripped tanked and inspected.  Parts have been meticulously bagged and labeled.  it's the low (11.1:1) compression version.  My engine builder has built motors for my ten-time Bonneville roadster record holder.  He is the most ANAL dude you will ever meet (masters in chemical engineering) and his thorough notes are attached.  Please read them carefully so you have a clear understanding of the excellent condition of this engine in terms of lack of wear and originality.  Everything is included except the air cleaners and carb linkage (readily available).  I even have the ORIGINAL max wedge exhaust system with cutouts.  Engine is apart and no machining has been done.  All correct parts are included.  Do the math for reproduction parts and you see that this is a STEAL for the REAL stuff.

Body ~ This is an x-drag body from high-desert Idaho.  It is therefore EXTREMELY rust-free and straight.  I have a clear title.  The only issues are pin holes in the trunk and behind the drivers seat.  There is an old dent on the roof (easy fix).  Other than that, it is VERY straight and rust-free!

Trim and parts ~ I have several sets of trim (one polished), 2 grilles (one nearly perfect), 2 steering columns (for pushbutton and column shift), both bumpers and brackets, etc.  I THINK it's safe to say I have two of nearly every part.

Lots of photos here~

Look at the photos closely and then feel free to ask questions.  If you are looking at this, you are probably more of a Max Wedge expert than I, so prepare to inform me along the way.  I will answer all questions as honestly and accurately as possible.

Immediate non-refundable deposit via Paypal (I just got burned on the sale of my D500 wagon and am still pissed about it.).  Full payment within 7 days!

Car can be stored inside for 30 days for free after payment, and then I'll need $75/month to cover storage fees. I can stay in storage until March (possibly longer).

I have 100% eBay feedback as both a buyer and seller since 2004.

Please call with questions BEFORE you bid!

Thanks, Pete

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
