Up for auction is a solid original 1959 Plymouth Sport Fury 2 door hardtop. The 1959 Fury was the last of the big fin Plymouths, & the Sport Fury model is highly sought after. This Sport Fury rolled off the assembly line with factory 318 4V Super Pack engine, push button Torque Flight 3 speed automatic transmission, power steering, swivel bucket seats, tinted glass, dual outside mirrors, & more. I will be happy to do a buy it now for serious buyers. I can be reached at (six two six) 652-292seven.

This original black license plate California car has only had 2 owners in 54 years, and has always been in Southern California. The car was purchased locally in the Los Angeles area from the original owner’s nephew, who had it sitting in a garage for 19 years, last license tagged in 1994.

This Fury has only been painted once in 54 years, a very light coat of original Mint Green color. You have to look real close to notice that this is not the original coat of paint from the factory. This car will be an easy restoration with very minimal rust, beautiful original stainless trim, original uncut dash area with original radio & steering wheel, & overall a very complete car. The car still has all of its original body panels & has never had a major collision. Carpet has been removed to inspect floor pans & they are in great shape with only light surface rust, same goes for the trunk floor. The seat upholstery & door panels were recovered with an incorrect dark green material years back but the correct original interior for the 59 Sport Fury is currently being reproduced.

An attempt was made at putting the Fury back in service a few years back but was never completed. Engine received some tune up parts & carb was rebuilt, but that is as far as it went. Car will fire up but still needs mechanical repairs during the course of restoration. Car is being sold in non drivable condition, & who ever buys it should consider going completely through the mechanical to make it road worthy & proud again.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to own this original & rare Sport Fury hardtop at a very low reserve.

International buyers welcome. Free local delivery in the Los Angeles area. Vehicle must be paid in full before vehicle or title will be released. I will assist in getting the vehicle on a transport if going interstate, but shipping costs are the buyers responsibility. Vehicle is being sold strictly AS-IS. A non refundable deposit of $500 to be paid within 24 hours of auction end, with full payment due within 7 calendar days.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
