BODY

This 1973 Plymouth Duster started out as a rust free southern car that still had its original paint.
The interior was mostly there but old. It was completely stripped of every nut and bolt, mounting the shell on
a rotisserie for blasting. Once clean. they prepped the body with a sealer to prevent any rust or contamination.
Then normal body prep work of aligning doors and fenders with the hood and trunk. They installed a ’69 “Six-Pak” hood scoop
and made it functional. Attention to detail meant weeks of block sanding to achieve absolutely straight body lines and
perfect panel gaps. Paint was next and it was finished in Ferrari Red using Glasurit Urethane Base coat, and finished
with multiple coats of Glasurit Clear. Wet sanded to be absolutely smooth and triple polished to a high luster.
Finally the Duster was treated to several coats of Mother’s wax. This body is in wonderful condition.

The bumpers have been rechromed and all of the stainless trim has been polished.
The windshield is new all the other glass is original.

ENGINE

The Engine Block is a high cooling, ’73 440 block and was boiled out and crack checked, bored
and Diamond Honed to .030 over. New cam bearings and freeze plugs were installed. The crankshaft was
trued to .010 and .010 on the rods and mains and the complete rotating assembly was balanced.
It has approximately 10.5:1 compression new, flat top pistons. The connecting rods have been reconditioned
to like new. The heads are Aluminum and from The 440 Source as are the valve springs, retainers,
keepers and pushrods. There are Aluminum Roller Rockers beneath the Fabricated Aluminum Valve Covers.
The Cam is a Comp Thumpr Model with .513 Intake and .498 Exhaust lift. The Duration is 227 Intake
and 241 Exhaust which gives this car a great exhaust sound. Intake manifold is Mopar and the Chrome
headers are from Schmacher. New High Volume, High Pressure Oil Pump rounds out the bottom end.
On the front of the engine is a March Revolver Serpentine Belt System with Chrome High Amperage Alternator,
Polished Water Pump and Housing, A/C Compressor and P/S Pump. The Radiator is a 26” Aluminum dual
tube unit with twin electric fans doing the cooling. All of the A/C Hoses are new as is the Condenser. A top the
Throttle body is a chrome Velocity Stack. The exhaust System is new, Dual flow thru
Turbo Type mufflers and out the back thru Stainless Exhaust Tips.

ENGINE MANAGEMENT

This car has the F.A.S.T. Fuel Injection System for best combination of Easiest Starting, Smoothest Running,
Highest Power and Maximum Fuel Economy too. The system uses a throttle body rated at 900 CFM and has 4 Fuel
Injectors. It is managed by an Engine Control Unit mounted under the hood. There is a small, handheld unit for
adjustments like Idle Speed, Idle Speed with A/C on, Fuel/Air Ratio, Cooling Fan On temperature, ETC, ETC.
It is a “Self Learning System in that once the initial set up is complete, the ECU learns what the driver wants
and the engine needs and makes adjustments while you drive. No Laptop is needed.

The Ignition System is controlled by a MSD Digital 6-AL Processor coupled to a MSD Blaster 3 Coil and
Billet Aluminum Distributor. MSD Plug Wires and E-3 Spark Plugs round out the system.

SUSPENSION

The Front suspension is Chrysler Torsion Bar with new Heavy Duty Mopar Performance units installed.
All new bushings and ball joints as well as tie rods ends have been used. The front brakes are Chrysler Disc
units and the Power Steering Box has been Remanufactured. In the rear are new Mopar Super Stock Leaf Springs.
There are Rear Disc Brakes making the car, 4 wheel disc. All of the Brake lines and hoses are new.

DRIVELINE

This car is equipped with a Tremac, 5 Speed, Overdrive Stick Transmission. With this unit in the car,
Highway driving is a breeze! Just shift into 5th gear and the car settles down and cruises very comfortably with
about a 40% reduction in RPM’s. Coupled with the Fuel Injection, this combination provides the best in
cruising and fuel economy at highway speeds. It features an American Powertrain Hydraulic Clutch,
Bellhousing, Trans Mount and New Driveshaft and U-Joints.

INTERIOR

The Interior of the car has been completely reconditioned. New Headliner, Rear Seat Covers, Door Panels and
Carpet are just a few of the items treated all in black. The Front Seats are a High Performance Style seat with lots
of support and have 4 point harness system. The dash has a Carbon Fiber Type Bezel and sports Auto Meter
Gauges throughout. The Factory A/C Controls are still in the original location and operate in the same way as original.
JVC DVD Stereo is mounted in the original radio location. Two 6X9 Speakers mounted in the rear
deck and two custom front Kick Panel Speakers in front.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
