1974 Plymouth Duster Low Mileage Survivor Dodge Mopar on 2040-cars
Shallotte, North Carolina, United States
I have a very nice low mileage 1974 Plymouth Duster for sale. It has 58925 original miles. Its a 318, 2 barrel carb car with power steering, power disk brakes, underdash A/C car. It was painted back in November the original color Avacado Gold which is a bright metallic green it really looks great on this car with the clearcoat. The car originally had a vinyl top it was removed for a cleaner look and to prevent rust from forming under it. The car draws a lot of attention wherever I drive it always gets a thumbs up and a lot of people stopping to take a look at it. The engine runs like a sewing machine its completely stock except for dual exhaust where run from the manifolds to the rear bumper of the car with turbo mufflers sounds great idling or at any speed no drone noise driving on the interstate or at any speed. Speaking of bumpers the front and rear bumper on this car look outstanding the chrome is excellent on them maybe they were rechromed in the past don't know for sure the big rubber crash bumpers used on the 73 up cars where removed for a cleaner look. The car has a new carpet, underhood mat, trunk mat, gas tank, rear shocks, alternator, rebuilt carb, and power brake booster and A/C condenser. The car has almost new 205/70/14 radial white letter tires with Rallye wheels. The car runs drives and shifts great and gets great fuel mileage in the low 20's thanks to a 2.45 gear in the 8 1/4 rearend. You can cruise on the interstate at 75 or 80 mph with this car and it seems like its just pasted a good idle unlike most older cars with 3.23 or lower rear gears that are screaming at 80 mph on the interstate burning fuel like crazy. This car is a lot of fun to drive as is drives and rides great. The car will need the A/C recharged I didn't have it recharged after installing the new A/C condenser figured it is better to wait till it is needed again before charging it. The weather stripping around the trunk lid and around the windows is showing some age and could stand to be replaced. The front floor pans have been patched in the past and resealed with undercoating if you want a professional job they would need to be replaced new quality replacements start at 85 dollars for each side or drive it like it is no one will know unless you tell them. The trunk floor and back floorboards all the frame rails are all in great shape and solid as can be. If you are looking for a low mileage 58925 miles almost completely original car that can be a daily driver with power steering, power brakes and A/C that wont break the bank driving it this would be a great car for you. Its not 20 thousand show car with a concourse paint job but it draws attention everywhere I go with it and looks great. Interior is in great shape it is original has a small crack on each end of the dash pad and the bottom of the door panels are starting to show their age but no rips or tears in the original seats. This car is located in southeastern NC near about halfway between Wilmington NC and Myrtle Beach SC near the NC/SC border on the coast of NC. I reserve the right to end the auction early as I have the car for sale locally. This car is well worth my reserve price you wont find another one that runs and drives and looks as good as this one with this low a mileage. I require a 500.00 non refundable deposit as soon as the auction ends thru Paypal remaining balance must be paid within 3 business days. The remaining balance can be paid in person by cash or by cashiers check if you are not local. Buyer will arrange all shipping on this car I can meet the truck driver with it. Please don't bid if you don't have the money on hand to buy the car or if you ask to ask permission to buy it. |

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars
Wed, 30 Jul 2014The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]
Mon, 16 Jun 2014
We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
