1972 Plymouth Duster/ Demon Drag Car 408 Stroker on 2040-cars
Paris, Arkansas, United States
1972 Duster drag car with a 408, Eagle steel crank, Diamond 11:1 pistons, zero decked, line bored, balanced, h beam rods, 830 HP Holley, Hooker Supercomp headers, J cast heads with lots of work to them. MSD 6al and MSD distributor, victor jr intake, Comp Cams roller rockers and flat mechanical cam .568 lift. Around 15 race days on the refreshed engine. Car is all fiberglass, bumpers, doors, fenders, hood and deck. Weighs 2600 lb empty and runs 6.70's all day in good air, low 1.40s in 60 ft with a best of 6.63 and 1.38 when I had 31.5 10.5w slicks. 6.80's in the heat. Very impressive for a factory head small block. 8 3/4 rear axle with 35 spline Moser axles and spool, 4.88 gears. Ladder bar/ AFCO coil over rear suspension with mini tubes to the factory frame rails. 10" Draglites on the rear with 29.5 x 11 M/T with same 15 race days as the engine. Room for up to 32's. The rear wheel well openings have been reworked for the larger tires. 5" Draglites on the front with factory disk brakes and steering. Sassygrass green paint looks great but does have a few bumps from 12 years of racing. All the graphics are decals and the car has always been garaged. When I bought the car 12 years ago it was NHRA legal to 10.50 but seat belts are out of date now. This is a great bracket car with low cost maintenance. I bought a chassis car last fall, so old faithful has to go. All it needs is a driver. Call with any questions Ray 479-438-0947. Bill of sale only, no VIN number on the car.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]
Mon, 16 Jun 2014
We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars
Wed, 30 Jul 2014The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
