1971 Plymouth Duster! Wonderful Condition! Drive Her Home! on 2040-cars
Wilmington, North Carolina, United States
1971 Plymouth Duster.
Plum Crazy Duster in wonderful condition. Mechanics: The Duster starts right up and runs great. It could be a daily driver if you were in that sort of mode. The car has AC but is not charged. The heat works fine. It has a Hemi Slant Six! (inside mopar joke). Actually I bought this with the intent of putting in a 340 but the 225 slant six is one of the best motors ever made and this one runs like a sewing machine. It sounds like a V-8 and has duel exhaust but gets high 20's for gas mileage. The only thing I might change would be changing the single barrel Holley carb to a 2 barrel electric choke carb. She starts right up but likes to warm up before running perfect, hence old choke mechanics. Tranny is smooth as butter and brakes are non assist drums which stop this car just fine, no pulling. No oil leaks, no smoke. Exterior: The paint is a 5 footer, really shiny but not perfect. I would not paint it, it is quite the head turner. The car was originally Green. The doors close like a new car and all panels are straight. The front bumper looks new and the rear could use a rechrome. There is no real rust to speak of except the trunk rail which you can see in the picture. The trunk is large and pretty rust free. All stickers are new, still need the side stripe and a spoiler would be nice to complete the twister look. Interior: The interior used to be green. The seats are very comfortable and the fabric is still in good shape under the black covers except they are green. If you want to look like the Joker with your purple car and green seats, have at it! The dash needs a new pad. The headliner is in great shape. All the gauges work but the Fuel gauge shows half of what it should. The stereo sounds really nice, 4 speakers thruout. HERE IS A VIDEO OF THE DUSTER: http://youtu.be/bSd2zkKHCqQ Not much else to say, it is a very good driving original duster that gathers a LOT of attention on the road. I will not take any less than what is listed in price. It is a very fair value for this car. I will help you with shipping if need be. |

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books
Thu, 25 Sep 2014The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars
Wed, 30 Jul 2014The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
