Easton, Connecticut, United States
Original 71 Cuda Convertible 340 4spd GY3 Curious Yellow , Numbers Matching car This is an original GY3 Curious Yellow 340 4spd Cuda convertible. Numbers matching car. VIN BS27H1B199808 This could be your only opportunity to own a 71 4spd Cuda convertible in this rare color. I’m selling to make room for a 71 Hemi Cuda. The 71 Cuda Convertible had three engine options. The 383 came as standard equipment. The buyer could upgrade to one of three high performance engines : 340, 440-6 and Hemi. This car has a complete documented owner history from the original owner in 1970 until 2014. The fender tag is original and has been locked in a safety deposit box while a copy was made for display purposes. Both go with the car. A buildsheet was found during the resto. It is correct for a B5 blue, black billboards, 4spd 71 Cuda hardtop VIN BS23N1B199?21. The sheet goes with the car in hopes of swapping correct sheets. The car was restored back in the late 90s. GY3 is called Curious Yellow because sometimes it looks greenish and sometimes it looks yellow. These pics make the color look more like Lemon twist but don't worry, the color is correct and looks better in person than with my poor photography skills. The car has been driven some since the resto so it does show some wear. The interior has been upgraded from vinyl to leather the interior panels are original and very nice. The glass is all nice, the top is nice. The top motor was replaced with an NOS unit during the resto. The body is very straight. The paint on the body is very nice and even looks good when you are a few inches away. There are a few very small imperfections. The original block comes with the car. It has minor fixable damage to a lifter galley. The car is now running with a date coded 340 block. The exhaust manifolds are the very desirable OEM High performance units. The exhaust is stock. Stock carb, etc. The car runs great. The battery in the pics is for show only. A good quality regular battery goes with the car. The trunk includes the jack and space saver tire with air canister. The Shaker hood is an original including the bubble and so are the 15x7 rally wheels, the bill boards and wing have also been added to round off the great list of options that this car came with from the factory: R11 AM RADIO V5X BLACK BODY SIDE MOULDING 26 26INCH RADIATOR EN2 END OF TAG M88 DECK MOULDING TREATMENT N41 DUAL EXHAUST N42 CHROME TIPS N85 TACH P37 POWER TOP G36 DUAL PAINTED RACING MIRRORS J25 3 SPD WIPERS J45 HOOD PINS J54 SPORT HOOD M25 SILL MOULDING M31 BELT MOULDING V3X BLACK CONV TOP C SOLD NEW IN CANADA A62 RALLY DASH B51 POWER DISC BRAKES C16 CONSOLE C55 BUCKET SEATS GY3 CURIOUS YELLOW H6X9 BLACK VINYL SEATS 000 NO UPPER DOOR FRAME PAINT B03 SCHEDULED PRODUCTION DATE , NOV 3 1970 B13368 ORDER NUMBER E55 340 ENGINE D21 4SPD TRANS BS27H1B199868 Recap: 1. There were zero Hemi or 6pk Curious Yellow 4spd convertibles produced which makes a 340 the highest engine option produced on a Curious Yellow 4spd Convertible. 2. Numbers match 3. Best color combo 4. highly optioned 5. Super low production 6. Original fender tag 7. complete owner history 8. This car steals the show I will consider interesting trades. '71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]
Mon, 16 Jun 2014
We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars
Wed, 30 Jul 2014The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
