1972 Plymouth Cuda Aar Clone, Built 440, Pdb, P/s, Tons New, 70 Pics, Nice L@@k! on 2040-cars
Year:1972
Mileage:0
Location:
Sebring, Florida, United States
You
are bidding on one of the most collectible and well-known muscle cars of all
time a 1972 Plymouth Cuda 440 AAR clone. Car originally came with a 318 but was
replaced with a rebuilt 440 with purple cam, headers, ported heads, and a new
intake with a new Holley carburetor, has brand new exhaust with correct Cuda
exhaust tips sounds extremely good with a nice rumble. TorqueFlite transmission
shifts very well and was recently rebuilt. Original Sure-Grip rear with 3:23
gear ratio makes for nice highway cruising. The paint is about 7 years old and
has some very minor flaws but still shows very well with the AAR stripe and AAR
rear spoiler, the body is in excellent shape with no rust and no waves and is straight as an arrow, all the doors, windows, trunk, hood line up as they should and the gaps are all correct. Most of the interior was replaced within the last year including
new front and rear seats with new padding, new door panels, new carpet, new
headliner, new package tray, new dash, new sill plates, new high dollar radio
with mp3 and usb hook-up, aftermarket sunpro gauges, etc. Underneath is super
solid no rust at all, the floorpans and underneath were repainted to match the
body 7 years ago, trunk and package tray area are also super solid. Have over
15k in receipts of recently installed mechanical parts but just to name a few, complete
new fuel system from gas tank to carburetor including all fuel lines and clamps. All new brakes with new master cylinder and power brake booster, equipped with stainless steel lines front to back, lets this car stop on a dime, rebuilt power
steering lets you steer with a pinky, new shocks, new aluminum radiator, new door
handles, new front windshield, new American Racing rims with new tires, new bumpers
front and rear, list goes on and on and all the receipts are included in the
auction. Overall this Cuda is an extremely nice solid driving car that anyone
would be proud to own. These early Cuda’s are getting harder and harder to find
and this one is ready to hop in and cruise the coast. The only things the car
needs that I know of is a horn all the wires are there just needs the horn
installed, wiper assembly needs a resistor for them to work (I never drove the
car in the rain), blower motor is missing, the vin tag needs to be reinstalled on the dash as a complete
new dash was installed and right now it is resting on the dash by the windshield,
it is missing one small piece of inner grill trim on the driver side, the
speedometer wasn’t hooked up when the transmission was rebuilt, and as
mentioned earlier the paint job is about 7 years old and does have some minor
imperfections starting to show up- 2 small air bubble spots on the hood
(pictured), two small bubbles around the trunk (pictured), and it is
missing the fender emblems the holes are there just needs the emblems installed
(pictured), there are some other very small scratches or chips here and there
from normal driving but would still rate the paint job still an 8 out of 10 overall and
as you can tell by the pictures it is still very nice and no one at the cruise ins even notices these minor flaws. These are the only
things I know the car needs and none of them affect the drivability of the car
and most of these things you would not even notice I just believe in disclosing
anything the car needs no matter how small to the new potential owner. Lights,
turn signals, etc all work as they should, car does not run hot at all and
starts with the bump of a key, no leaks, no funny sounds, just a nice solid
driving Cuda. I encourage local inspections as the car is as advertised with no
disappointments if you are looking for a nice Cuda to take to local shows or just cruise around town and gets tons of thumbs up look no further. Car is sold AS-IS with clear

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
