1972 Plymouth Barracuda E Body on 2040-cars
Maple Hill, North Carolina, United States
If you have any questions please email at: emmalinehoseck@juno.com .
This is a 1972 'cuda originally equipped 340, 4-Speed car with Power Steering, Power Brakes, Tinted Glass, Rallye
Dash, Light package (including fender -mounted turn signals), and Air-Conditioning. Originally it had no console
and a single driver's side mirror. These items were added when I restored the car. So, you will not see G36/G37
(dual mirrors) or C16 (console) in the fender tag decoding below. It is an original FY1 Lemon Twist car with white
interior and white stripe. I did not care for the yellow/white combination and especially the white stripe. In
fact, I don't like the 72 stripe really, so I installed black interior and did not replace the stripe. One could
easily change these things back to original, simply a matter of personal preference. The paint is a very nice
driver-quality job with some minor flaws. It shows very well on the street and at local shows. It would not
describe it as a concourse show paint job. It is now equipped with a potent well-appointed 440 Six Pac. So, the
engine (and transmission) are not original to the car. This is what some might call an "over restored" car. I
bought the car in 2003 and totally restored it to the current condition over several years of intense work. It has
been driven very little since the restoration and has lived in a heated, cooled and dehumidified garage. The car
has 100% all of its original sheet metal and has had NO RUST EVER! The VIN matches on the VIN plate, cowl, fender
tag and radiator support. Obviously the motor and transmission do NOT match as both have been replaced. The A/C
has been upgraded using a modern Classic Auto Air "under hood" Refrigerant 134a kit with polished Sanden rotary
compressor. The A/C currently is not functioning properly (has a refrigerant leak) and will need attention.
Everything else works on the car; right down to the seatbelt buzzer and ignition key-in buzzer. Because blue was
the correct color for the 340, but orange is the correct color for the 440, I decided to paint the engine and air
cleaner base Lemon Twist to match the body color. The remainder of the items under hood retain stock appearance.
It has modern 17" Road wheels with B F Goodrich radial tires. The AM radio has been replaced with a modern
electronic AM/FM retro stereo that looks identical to the original. The entire interior of the car was restored to
retain 100% original look. You will just have to look closely at the pictures to really understand and appreciate
the level of restoration and quality of the endless list of new and/or restored items and the detail. I have some
pictures of the restoration process available for those interested. It is NOT restored to a concourse original
level with stampings, markings, 100% correctness, etc. It is simply tastefully and meticulously done. No item has
gone untouched or unconsidered. Every nut, bolt, wire, clip, strap, bulb, spring, plug, bumper, insulation, trim
piece, etc., etc. has either been replaced with NOS, or new reproduction part; or has been reconditioned and
cleaned; particularly the parts original to the car that were in good condition, and/or where QUALITY parts are not
readily available. It is my personal preference to retain ANY parts original to the car that are in good condition,
so in those cases many items were kept...
All sales are final. This car is sold AS IS WHERE IS with NO warranty expressed or implied. I reserve to end this
auction at any time as I have the car for sale elsewhere. Please ask any questions before placing a bid. Shipping
cost to be paid by buyer. I will assist with pick up and loading by your chosen carrier.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars
Wed, 30 Jul 2014The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars
Sat, 18 Jan 2014The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
