Up for sale is my real BS23 1970 'cuda. It's an "N" code 383 big block,D21 4 speed car in factory EB5 blue fire metallic. It also has a factory black interior with vinyl top, console, buckets, and an original 1970 rear spoiler It has an 8-3/4" rear end with highway gears. This is a sales bank car with some cool options including a provision on the fender tag for a hockey stick strip, hood pins and fender mounted directionals. This 'cuda was a California car most of it's life and then went to Texas for the last 4 years. It has been with me since January 2013 and i added a few grand in parts to take it further along to being more complete.

This was a very clean and solid foundation for restoration when the previous owner took possession of it. The car is a nut and bolt rotisserie restoration and the tub was media blasted down to bare metal, primed and painted body color. the owner told me that the quarters were solid, but he found the trunk drop area packed with nesting materials and he worried that the quarters might rust out behind the wheelwells,so he replaced both of them with full AMD quarter panels. there were pinholes in the trunk,so he also replaced the trunk pan with an AMD one piece unit as well. The car was also treated to a new rallye hood. The hood that came on the car was not the original one. The previous owner told me the 22" core support was damaged at some time from being towed around by it. a 26" core support was installed in it's place. The  rest of the car is all rust-free,original mopar sheetmetal. please view the pics showing the Vin sticker in the driver's side door and cowl vin stamping.

I laid underneath the car to take pics and i can say that the car is extremely solid and i did not see any pitting under the beautiful EB5 paint. The paint is a single stage acrylic enamel. The front k-member suspension was blasted and powdercoated and all front end suspension components replaced. Ball joints, tie rods, idler arm,new hemi torsion bars, bumper stops, pinion rubbers etc...A new gas tank was installed. the 4 speed pedals have been restored and pedal pads installed. The car also has original mopar disc brakes. It has a new vinyl top and the interior was replaced with all new Legendary covers, seat buns and new carpeting. The dash housing was blasted and repainted and a brand new 1970 barracuda dash pad with steel liner from Just dashes was installed.A new heater box the firewall seal kit kit was installed. The car has a new windshield, but the rear window is original. The door and quarter glass is all present. The stainless is in pretty good shape. the wide gilled rocker mouldings are in good shape. New AMD bumpers,383 emblems for hood and 'cuda emblem for rear taillight panel were installed. the door panels are originals and are in decent driver quality condition. it has a nice original 70 steering wheel with no cracks.

In my opinion, the paint is a 7 on a 1-10 scale, but i am pretty picky. It needs to be buffed out to make it show car worthy. it has a nice detailed original grille with red bar mouldings. Brand new centers caps for the wheels, door sill plates,etc... The car comes with great documentation including original Vin tag, fender tag and door sticker. i got the fender tag with the car and it was unrestored.it has a light scale on it. i decided to leave it that way for the next owner. No build sheet was found. It has a clear title and is ready to be transferred to the new owner.

Why am i selling the car at this stage? I have too many projects on my plate and not enough money to complete them. Other things are taking priority over this 'cuda and i wish to send it down the road to someone who wants to finish it up and enjoy it. The original 383 engine is long gone, but the numbers matching 4 speed trans is still present and is included with the car. The new owner can either hunt down a date code correct 383,or do like i wanted to do and drop a 426 hemi or a 440 six barrel in it and raise the value even more. then it's worth 70-80K at the auctions. there are options with no worries of blowing up an original motor and in the end,you still have a very nice real bs23 'cuda with desireable colors and options.and for those looking for a real 'cuda, there is no substitute. i have taken 70 pictures of the car. ebay will not allow me to post the link. email me and i'll send you the link.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. i have been as honest and forthright as i can be about the car. What you see is what you get. i want the new owner to be happy and know what they are purchasing. you can reach me at 1-414-671-3364. if i do not answer, leave a message and i will call you back as soon as possible. thanks, dave

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
