1967 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S on 2040-cars
East Peoria, Illinois, United States
Up for bid is a 1967 Barracuda Formula S 273 4 speed body......... This is a basket case project with some parts missing as noted above. This car does come with the fender tag, buildsheet, and good PA title. This was a long time CA car so it was fairly solid.I did replace the front passenger floor pan,and full trunk pan due to some various small rust holes. At one time some one back into a post or something and the rear valance was dented so I replace it as well.I used AMD replacement metal.I do have the rear quarter panels off and would say to do the car correctly I would replace both rear quarter panels with AMD panels. The car also needs both trunk extensions.I do have both quarter panels and both could be repaired. The passenger quarter has pin holes on the lower quarter behing the rear tire. And the drivers quarter has a few holes at the rear window area. Also the drivers quarter would need the lower section behind the rear tire replaced. The primer on the car was applied by a professional and is Sikkens Color build Plus. The bare shell as picture here is rustfree with the exception of 2-3 small rust holes in the panel between the rear glass and the trunk lid.The doors, and hood are also rustfree. The impossible to find trunk lid is rustfree but has one small area where the pinch weld is bubbled a little. I did widen the rear wheel tubs. The tubs have been moved to the frame. But I have NOT cut the rear frame for the spring relocation kit.So you could keep the spring in the stock location, would need new rear spring mounts on the frame to do so though. All the small parts I have for the car are marked and boxed up. The car comes with a 8 3/4 open rear end under it.It has caster wheels and can roll up on a trailer or flat bed. This was a 273 HP,4 speed, non console, silver, black interior car. This is a auction so do not ask what my reserve is.Bid if you want the car and either you will meet the reserve or you will not. *************Deposit due within 24 hours of auctions end.Balance due in cash or Bank wire transfer**************** Car must be picked up by May 4th,2014 unless other arrangements are made before the end of the auction. |

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own
Wed, 19 Dec 2012Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.
US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books
Thu, 25 Sep 2014The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.
Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars
Sat, 18 Jan 2014The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
