1985 Oldsmobile Toronado Brougham Caliente on 2040-cars
Hackensack, New Jersey, United States
You are looking at a very attractive and good running Toronado Caliente. The Caliente was the upscale version of the Toronado, notice the special trim along the upper body lines and the thickly padded landau vinyl top. The engine runs strong, with no smoke, or noises. The transmission shifts properly. The steering and brakes are responsive and are as they should be. The air conditioning blows ice cold, the heat works properly, the power windows, seats and locks work properly. All lights, wipers and horn work properly, as does the radio, although the sound is marginal, I think the speakers are a bit tired. The tires have decent tread, but I don't know how old they are. The car looks good on the outside, inside and underneath. The vinyl top is nearly new, it was replaced last year. The bumper fillers, which were all broken, when I bought the car, were all replaced last year. The car has been painted, at some point over it's twenty nine years and it looks good, but is not perfect. In addition to some clarity issues, which are minor and mostly confined to around the corners of the car. Perhaps some wet sanding would improve the clarity greatly. There is a small ding on the hood, maybe a couple of inches and very minor. There are several minor chips and scratches around the body, but nothing to worry about. The interior is quite nice! The leather seats and steering wheel are immaculate. The dash, the door panels and headliner are in very nice condition. The carpet has no rips, but there is discoloration on the carpet on the driver's side front floor "see picture" The trunk is clean, dry and solid. The engine compartment is good, but could use a better detailing if you are particular. Please look at all of the pictures and read my entire description. This is a very inexpensive way to enter the collector car hobby. You can drive and enjoy this car just as it is, but please remember that this is a twenty nine year old car, that has been driven and enjoyed for all of these years. PLEASE don't expect a "show car" because it is what I would call a very good "driver quality" car. This car has a low reserve and I have the car listed to be sold. I have another toy coming, so this car needs to go. It will give somebody a chance to get a good car for a low price. Please bid to own. The car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early. You are invited to come see and drive this car before you bid. If you have a question, please ask, before you bid, please don't "assume" anything. I have tried to describe this car thoroughly and completely, but your opinion may be different than mine. The car is SOLD AS-IS, with NO warranties expressed, or implied. My name is Bill Marcy, you are welcome to call me at 201 954 3159, if you would like to speak to me personally. Thank you for viewing my auction and reading my ramblings. I would appreciate a $200 paypal deposit at the close of the auction and the balance within seven "7" days, preferably by bank wire transfer, money order, or cash in person. International buyers MUST pay by bank wire transfer, NO EXCEPTIONS.. Thank you and have fun bidding!

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6
Wed, 11 Dec 2013Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant
Wed, 18 Jun 2014If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison
Thu, 13 Nov 2014The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.
