1992 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser Base Wagon 4-door 5.7l on 2040-cars
Dallas, Texas, United States
For Sale: 1992 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser 5.7L V8 145,600 miles The cleanest completely stock long roof in the country: probably yes. Park this car next to any Ferrari out there and see who gets the first smile. If smiles per miles is your game, you will win every time. If you are looking for great gas mileage, well, this has that, too. On my inaugural road trip in this car I drove from Middlesex, VA to Dallas, TX, and maxed at 25mpg. I've never gotten less than 17mpg in the city. Zero problems. It sounds great, has no problem getting up to speed, and it only brings the right kind of attention. I found this car at a dealership in North Carolina and I had a great experience with the guys there. They supplied me with a CarFax (which I will supply for you) and replaced the battery at no cost just because the month/year indicator was missing. I replaced the rear brake shoes and idler arm before having it inspected. It passed with flying colors. This Custom Cruiser was a 1-Owner car for 137,000 miles. Rumor has it that the original owner used the car solely as a Harley Davidson event cruiser/road tripper. I left the Harley Davidson sticker attached mainly for posterity, and because I really appreciate that the first owner owned and maintained the car in such a meticulous way. It's not easy to keep the shopping carts at bay, for the first year let alone the next twenty. I bought the Custom Cruiser solely for the purpose of hauling my stuff from Virginia to Texas. With 8x4 feet of flat storage, and similar old soul virtues, I quickly fell for the car and had no plans to sell it until I landed a great new job. With a company car in tow, and plans for a bike build in the near future, I would like to find a happy new owner for *Patty* before the summer gets underway. If you're looking for a Custom Cruiser, or even a Buick Roadmaster or Chevrolet Caprice wagon, you've already found the right car. It's just a great car with serious charisma. Cool Things: A/C BLOWS COLD!!! 1 of 12,010 total (way more rare than its Buick and Chevrolet siblings) girls love it, old people love it, cops love it, everybody loves it brand new set of white letter BFG Radial T/As deluxe tow package (cool looking wheels) Pioneer head unit w/remote (CD, AUX, USB - DOES NOT have bluetooth) all power locks, windows, and mirrors work cruise control works hidden hitch 1 1/4" full interior cargo cover 17/25 city/highway Not as Cool Things: right horn button is chipped (the top left corner is broken off) radio antenna will not retract (I clipped it close to the base and rubber capped it) scratches in left rear passenger window tint (not a deal breaker, but could be re-done) rear window intact but wiper is not working front window washers not spraying **dent in bottom left corner of tailgate (cannot be fixed without cut and spray, currently resides under American flag) I can also provide a copy of the title with any pertinent information, as well as the CarFax and any additional photos upon request. I'm motivated to sell so please make your best offer and I will try to respond in a timely fashion. Shipping and other requests will be considered on a case by case basis. The car is currently located in Dallas, Texas. Thank you all for looking. Jeremy tags: station wagon, wagon, oldsmobile, custom cruiser, buick, roadmaster, chevrolet, caprice |

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant
Wed, 18 Jun 2014If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6
Wed, 11 Dec 2013Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
