California, Missouri, United States

For Sale: 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88

Olds Rocket 350, Holley 4 barrel carburetor, Offenhauser aluminum intake, headers, 2 1/2 dual exhaust, TH 375 automatic transmission with Hurst shift kit, open rear end with 3.08 gears.  AC has been changed over to R134a, it blows cold but not ice cold (it is still comfortable on a hot day) I think it needs a little charge. Car has power steering, power brakes, disk on front, drums on back. new brake pads, shoes, the front wheel bearings and races replaced last winter. 15x8 American Racing Torque Thrust II wheels with brand new 255/60r 15 Cooper Cobra tires with less than 100 miles on them.

The front and rear seat needs new upholstery to finish the interior, new carpet was installed last winter, and the rest of the interior is in great shape, no cracks anywhere on dash, door panels are in really nice condition as is the head liner. Has a period correct Grant custom steering wheel,  Sun tachometer, Sun oil, temp, and voltage gauges, Hurst V-matic dual mode floor shifter. (Regular mode or ratchet mode) Sony AM/FM CD head unit, I also have the original dash insert that was left untouched with the original AM/8Track radio that comes with the car.

Installed new vinyl top and had the windows tinted in 2008, the hood on the car is not the original and the hood scoop is a Goodmark steel cowl and I still have the original hood that is untouched. The car was repainted at one time, do not know if it was the first or second owner, it has some chips, small dings and some light scratches, but the paint still has a deep shine and is very presentable. The floors and trunk are solid and do not have any rust, the front and rear bumpers are straight and have good chrome on them. "It turns heads every where it goes!"

I have the original sales receipt from the dealership where the car was purchased, I have the original warranty papers, owners manual, the original factory build sheets from under the rear seat, well... everything except for the window sticker. I also have a 1973 Oldsmobile chassis manual that has been worth it's weight in gold when trouble shooting problems and working on the car. I have an ACCEL HEI distrbutor and an Oldsmobile A4 factory aluminum 4 barrel intake manifold that goes with the car, and I also have a few small hard to find parts that will be included.

I have owned the car since 2006 and I have enjoyed every year and mile of cruising, driving it to and showing it at car shows and cruise nights. Out of every classic car I've owned, I have had the most fun with this one..."Hands down!" I'm not afraid to go on a road trip at any time and have never had any major problems outside of normal maintenance and normal wear on a 40 year old classic car. The car has been kept in a garage out of the weather and does not get driven in the winter since I have owned it. "Once the we get the first snow, I'm done driving it until the spring rains wash the salt off of the roads."

If you are looking for a car that will stand out in the crowd, "This is the one!" Since 2006 I have been all over the State of Missouri and have not seen a '73 Delta 88 2 door hard top at any cruise nights and car shows, I have not even met one on the road anywhere. You will see Delta 88 convertibles and on a rare occasion a 4 door, but never a 2 door hard top. With 43,315 Delta 88 2 door hard tops produced in 1973, and distributed world wide, it is a fairly low production vehicle that at the time was considered as a disposable car. You will have to look long and hard to find another like this one, they are few and far between. I never have any problems finding the car at a car show or cruise night because it is always the only one there.

The car is being sold as I bought it..."As is."

The buy it now price is just an asking price, "You have to start somewhere." I am open to reasonable offers but no low ball  offers. If you have serious questions please do not be afraid to ask... I will give you straight answers. If you want to view the car in person we will make arrangements to do so.

I will require a $500 Paypal deposit within 24 hours of sale and the rest of the balance paid in 7 days.  All transaction communications will be done through Ebay for your protection and mine.

The buyer is responsible for making all arrangements of pick up, shipping and/or transport. The buyer is responsible for the paying of all shipping and/or transportation costs.

"The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this sale at anytime."

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.
