For Sale is my 1972 olds Cutlass Convertible. Delaware registered Antique Historic Vehicle.
This car was originally shipped to Canada after it was built in 1972, so it has no factory AC. I bought the car almost 20 years ago from the original owners son (the title was in French!)
Engine is a 350cid with 350 turbo transmission. PS/PB. Engine mods include Hooker headers, Edelbrock alum manifold, Accel HEI distributor, Edelbrock carb and duel snorkel air cleaner (not original to car). Speedometer shows 175624 miles as of this writing. This car has received a full frame off reconditioning approx. 8 years ago. Paint is in good shape with only minor scratches, and a few small dings from normal driving. Paint still has a brilliant shine. This car has been garaged kept and has NEVER seen the rain since its has been painted. I list it as 99% rust free because I'm sure somewhere there might be some rust. Car was rust proofed using Eastwood Co Anti-Rust. The body features a refurbished frame from a 70 donor car, new floors, trunk, Quarter panels, wheel wells, and gas tank. The bumpers feature bumper guards with the rear bumper showing normal fading and patina with no dents. The front bumper is straight but had some small rust damage years ago which was removed and covered (see picture). This car was completely disassembled, parts replaced or reconditioned, and reassembled with the factory assembly guide and Fisher Body Manual as references. Car has bucket seats with console featuring new wood inlay and new PRNDL marker. New gas tank has new straps and sending unit. All fuel lines were replaced, as were the brake lines. Some items replaced include Front Disc Brake calipers, rear brake cylinders, Rear Springs, shocks, front end and sway bar bushings, body mount bushings, radiator, master cylinder, clutch fan was replaced with an electric fan, water pump, heater core, fuel pump, exhaust system, rubber body bumpers, door seals, trunk seals, cowl vent covers, under hood insulation, and some of the seat belts. All wiring was removed and reconditioned. Vehicle has a different steering wheel and grille that I got at swap meets. Car also has rare "clam shell" side mirrors from 70 donor car. Car has factory trunk light and rare lighted rear view mirror (shows some signs of wear but in overall good shape). Front windshield is original w/ antenna wire in glass. Interior also has replacement carpet over Dynomat sound proofing.
The interior is in good shape. The seats were recovered with factory correct covers. The dash is perfect with no fading or cracks. console and shifter look great. Door panels are original with some minor flaws. Glove box was replaced along w/ ashtray.
The engine and transmission are original to the car and did not need rebuilding. Motor runs strong and does not blow or leak oil. Engine has factory oil heater engine plug that warms your oil in the winter! (I have it disconnected but retained the cord). Transmission works fine but has developed a leak at the torque converter seal. I have the seal but did not replace it. Transmission also has aux trans cooler mounted to radiator.
The convertible canvas needs to be replaced. it has gotten dry and brittle over the years. It has good glass in it. The pump motor works great, and the lines were replaced. Pump cylinders are in good working order as is the top frame. The header bow has a small indentation.
The electronics in the car are in good order with few issues. The alternator was replaced with a 120 amp alternator from a Cadillac. Car has a nice Kenwood stereo, new 4" speakers in dash, and 6"mounted in the rear seat panels. Also has subwoofer in trunk. The gauges were all refurbished. The original clock was removed and a Sun Tach was put in its place. there are also additional water and oil gauges mounted under the dash.
All Aluminum trim was machined polished and is in overall good shape.
Plastic lenses for lights were either polished or replaced. All had seals replaced.
Car rides on 15" Rally rims with full size spare on Rally rim in trunk. Tires are BF Goodrich Radial T/A's.
I replaced the starter solenoid with a heavy duty one, and have it heat shielded. Battery is in fair condition and should be replaced. It will turn the car over when cold, but if allowed to heat up over time it doesn't have enough power to turn the motor over.
Included with the sale is a collection of spare parts, Chilton's manual, Factory Assembly manual (reprint), and original Fisher Body Manual. I have some pictures and receipts, but was not the best at keeping track of all the work that was put into this car. I'll be happy to answer any questions you have on the car. I have listed everything I could think of but there may still be more. I have driven and enjoyed this car for many years, and only averaged approx.100 miles a year since the reconstruction.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant
Wed, 18 Jun 2014If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison
Thu, 13 Nov 2014The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.
