Nissan rowed the Note ashore [w/video]

Normally we wouldn't suggest trying to float your car on water, but Nissan has made some modifications to turn its new Versa Note hatchback into a makeshift rowing shell.
Nissan replaced the car's rear seats with a sliding rear rowing seat, modified the doors to open wider at 90 degrees and fitted a pair of oars. Most importantly, they put the whole thing on a floating platform to keep it from sinking into Eton Dorney Lake, the site of the 2012 Olympic rowing competitions in England (where the car is simply known as the Nissan Note).
Then they invited medal-winning competitive rowers Helen Glover, Sophie Hosking and Polly Swann to come along and row the thing, making use of the around-view monitor system to see where they were going. All in all it may not be quite as cool as the boats which Fiat made out of the 500 or Mini made out of its convertible, but it's still enough to float our boat. Nissan rolls Versa Note inside world's largest zorb [w/video]

With features like lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and moving object detection bundled into its Safety Shield suite, Nissan touts the Versa Note as among the safer vehicles on the road. And to highlight that, the Japanese automaker has taken its diminutive hatchback Zorbing.
Zwhat now, you ask? Zorbing. It's a sport (really more of a recreational activity, if you ask us) that involves getting into a giant inflatable ball, rolling down a slope and, well... that's about the extent of it. It's the same thing we did on hills as kids, only with more plastic. And ridicule.
The CarZorb which Nissan had crafted for the Note measures 60 feet around and weighs a metric ton. Nissan tested the device, which took two months to make, at a "top secret military training facility in the UK," then placed the hatchback inside and rolled it down a hill, all for the sake of the two-minute video clip below. 2014 Rogue kicks off production as 10,000,000th Nissan built in Tennessee

News comes across our desks all the time of one manufacturer marking some milestone or another. But Nissan has just announced a double-whammy: Not only has Nissan's assembly plant in Smyrna, TN, just built its ten-millionth vehicle, but that ten-millionth vehicle just so happened to be the first Nissan Rogue to be built in the United States.
The milestone arrives after over three decades of production that has included such nameplates as the Sentra, Altima, Maxima, Leaf, Pathfinder, Infiniti QX60, Xterra, Frontier, and now the Rogue. The latter crossover has swelled into Nissan's second best-selling vehicle, with demand growing by nearly 50 percent from 2010 to 2012. Now redesigned for 2014 and built locally, Nissan is evidently banking on demand continuing to rise.
