Nissan Sentra 1983 Antique on 2040-cars

Year:1983 Mileage:193838 Color: paint worn off

Flat Rock, Alabama, United States

I am the sole owner since I bought it newly manufactured in 1983. it did not have a factory installed air conditioner so when I bought it I had them add an air conditioner. over the years it failed 2 or 3 times and I had it fixed but I stopped fixing it. I assume all the old parts of that are still there. it has never been in a major wreck. the only minor wreck I remember is when someone hit my car in a parking lot when I wasn't there. there was a big dent in the panel back left from the drivers side. I think the panel was replaced.  about 5 years after I bought it the front axle melted and Nissan paid to replace it. I guess it didn't get greased although I took it in to the dealer for its post buy maintenance.  the clutch has been replaced a few times, I ride it I suppose.  I replaced the entire engine at around 79000 miles. sorry, I don't remember the exact mileage, don't have any record. point being the overall car has 193k on it but the engine doesn't.  tires have a lot of tread left on them (see pictures). the last maintenance activity I did back in 09 when I stopped using it was for the brake pads and discs to be replaced so they should be good for another 20k.  I find I prefer to try to sell it to someone who'll keep it, refurbish it, rather than just junk it. it's a trooper, it's hauled me around for over 25 years. in this state that makes it an antique, you can get an antique plate for it and drive it around in those antique car rallies (I think. as far as I know).  it has a manual transmission and it is small and maneuverable. in my opinion it's more fun to drive than a car with an automatic transmission. there are some small dings on the outside in additions to the paint being off but nothing I would call a 'dent'.  I used to smoke cigarettes but I didn't for that last 10+ years I had it.  I had a temporary contract up in Minnesota for 9 months. I used this car then and I had it proofed against snow-salt. i.e. many of the interior vacancies inside the body were squirted full of some substance to stop rust and a paint-on/spray-on treatment was given to the undercarriage to resist salt.  As far as I know it doesn't have any salt damage.  the old highway mileage for this car used to be 50-55 but that anti-salt treatment lowered that I'm sure. as did age.  I have a replacement certificate of title which applies to the car now.  I had the original title and I bet I still DO have it but I can't find it. a couple years ago I decided to sell and had to get my title reissued but wound up not selling.  I bought this vehicle with cash and there were Never any liens or debts or what-have-you on it.  I also have 1 of the original keys which i found a couple days ago...and promptly lost again. I got summoned for jury duty and I wound up shuffling a lot of objects around before I went in. that key got lost in the move-it-all activity.  if I can find that key before pickup you can have it of course. I have 2 copy keys which work.

You pay for any shipping expenses although I assume it'll be someone local who shows up to get it. The jump-start battery I used to test whether it would crank is not part of the sale. If you're local and want to drive it away, bring your own charged battery of the right type and size. Please bid only if you really will buy. Thank you.

Nissan Leaf all-electric taxis start pilot program in NYC [w/video]

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

When New York City picked the Nissan NV200 as its Taxi of Tomorrow, many were surprised that the vehicle wasn't electric, or even a hybrid for that matter. With NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg on hand, Nissan celebrated Earth Day on Monday by unveiling a pilot program of electric taxis for the city consisting of six 2013 Nissan Leaf EVs, which the mayor referred to as the "taxi of the day after tomorrow."
This pilot program is aimed to show how EVs can operate as taxi cabs, and Mayor Bloomberg said that New York City hopes to have a third of its taxi fleet electrified by 2020. In addition to the six cars, Nissan has also provided three quick chargers around Manhattan, allowing the Leafs to get an 80-percent recharge in just 30 minutes.
According to David Yassky, commissioner of the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission, "What we have to do now is figure out how you integrate the charging of an electric vehicle into the duty of a taxi cab."

2014 Nissan Versa Note priced from $13,990*

Fri, 14 Jun 2013

With the 2014 Nissan Versa Note going on sale this month, Nissan has announced the official pricing for its redesigned subcompact hatchback. Commanding a $2,000 premium over the Versa sedan, the new Versa Note will have a starting price of $13,990 (*not including $790 for destination), which is $680 less than the 2012 Versa Hatchback.
The base model is the Versa Note S, but trim levels also include S Plus and SV starting at $15,240 and $15,990, respectively. The S Plus trim will deliver the highest fuel economy - best in class according to Nissan - for the Versa Note thanks to a CVT and active grille shutters, and the SV brings more convenience features like power windows and door locks (that's right, the base models will still get crank windows and manual door locks). Stepping up even further, the SL Package will add push-button starter, backup camera and heated seats for $17,690 while the SL Tech Package tops out at $18,490 with navigation, Nissan's Around View Monitor and Bluetooth. More pricing details for the 2014 Versa Note are posted below in the official press release.

Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota FCV ready for production, Nissan tests Leaf-to-Home energy management

Fri, Oct 17 2014

Toyota will begin selling its hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCV) in Japan in December. The US and Europe can expect to see the car become available next summer. The FCV, which will likely be called "Mirai" (meaning "future") in Japan, is ready for production ahead of its initial deadline at the end of the fiscal year in March. Toyota planned for annual production of 700 units, but might increase output to meet higher-than-expected demand, which is currently nearing 1,000 units. The cars will mostly be sold in the four cities where a hydrogen fueling infrastructure is already being put in place: Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka. Read more at Nikkei Asian Review. Nissan is testing the Leaf EV as part of an energy management system including "Leaf to Home" technology. The system allows the Leaf to help support the power grid during peak energy usage, or provide backup power to a home or building during outages, particularly in emergencies like natural disasters. Using the Leaf's battery to provide electricity during peak hours would lessen the demand on the grid and make the system work more efficiently. Furthermore, if consumers are compensated for the energy saved by using the Leaf for power during periods of high demand, it could encourage more people to adopt the EV. CDP keeps track of how much companies are disclosing about their impact on global climate change. "The need for data on corporate climate change impacts and strategies to reduce them has never been greater," says CDP CEO Paul Simpson. "For this reason we congratulate those businesses that have achieved a position on CDP's Climate Disclosure Leadership Index." Other perfect scores were earned by Nissan, BMW, Daimler and General Motors. Read more in the press release from Honda below. Scientists at Stanford University have developed a lithium ion battery that can warn users before it overheats. A thin layer of copper between the anode and the layer separating the anode from the cathode acts as a sensor. When it detects lithium buildups from overcharging are approaching the separator, it sends an early alert long before it gets to a point where it would cause a short (which could lead to a fire). The new safety measure could be used in all sorts of battery applications, and not be limited to EVs. Learn more at Phys.org.
