Car and Driver: "When we drove Nissan’s terrific new Sentra SE-R for the first time last year, we noted that we’d always maintained that there’s no good reason that small cars can’t be as good as big cars. We then went on to cite the SE-R as the best evidence we’d seen to date that something we’d wanted for years—BMW 2002 punch at a Datsun price—had at last become a reality. The names have changed, of course, but you get the point. The entire driveline, from an engine that stands out (in a big crowd) with smooth delivery of power to a shifter that finds gears as if by divine guidance, sends the driver who truly loves the act of driving closer to affordable nirvana than he may yet have come. The Sentra SE-R in our test pack cost less than $13,000 delivered. If you don’t think that’s value for money, we urge you to treat yourself to an SE-R drive. We guarantee you’ll come away a believer." Only minor dings and dents. Over $9,000 worth of repairs performed at local Nissan dealership service department in about the past year. This was my first and only car, and I have had it now for 70k+ miles and about 13 years now! Carpets all shampooed up nice. Small but not especially noticeable crack in dash near the defrost vents. In the picture the dash looks like new. Leather on the steering wheel is starting to show signs of the cars age, but this can be easily fixed. What is most important is that all repairs have been competently performed by the local Nissan Dealership - Firkins Nissan in Bradenton, FL. Ice cold A/C (compressor and receiver drier just replaced this week at no charge under warranty). (Note picture of new A/C compressor). New Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS) sensor replaced at my request (due to repeated A/C compressor failures). TPS sensor turns off A/C at Wide Open Throttle to protect A/C compressor. ($149 part and $122 labor). Brand new water pump also replaced this week at Nissan dealership ($372 labor and $140 parts). New long life antifreeze. (Note picture of new water pump). Gear oil recently changed, along with recently replaced clutch. Shifts super smooth. New spark plugs within past 3 months (Nissan dealership supplied OEM Platinum Tipped Plugs good for 60k miles). Oil always changed at 3 months or 3k miles. November 2012 - New clutch, and clutch cable installed. ($214 parts, and $868 labor). Under warranty until 11/03/2013 or for about another 8k miles. October 2012 - A/C working intermittently. Fan switch replaced, along with blower motor resistor, and amplifier. ($214 parts and $599 labor). May 2012 - New compressor, evaporator, and condenser at 159k miles. ($425 labor and $1130 in parts). April 2012 - New starter motor & new battery ($329 labor and $390 parts). April 2012 - All four fuel injectors replaced at Nissan Service Department, 04/03/12 at 158k, along with new fuel filter, and new right upper motor mount ($642 parts, and $337 labor).
April 2011 - A/C Compressor replaced by Calloway European Automotive
February 2011 - The valve cover gaskets were done at 147.9k by Calloway European Automotive.
January 2010 - Clutch replaced; 5th gear "pop-out" fixed. ($1391)
November 2009 - Master brake cylinder replaced.
August 2009 - Distributor replaced. 137k miles. ($503 parts & $443 labor).
August 2009 - Air conditioner retrofit to R134A performed at Nissan Dealership ($273).
December 2007 - All front seat belts replaced under Nissan's lifetime warranty.
November 2007 - Nismo thermostat installed, radiator mounts replaced, fuel lines replaced
April 2007 - HKS Sport Exhaust purchased from STILLEN.COM - ($495 parts)
March 2005 - Alternator & Driveaxles replaced. ($863).
February 2003 - High pressure power steering hose replaced. ($270).
August 2002 - Valve cover gasket replaced by Nissan Dealership. ($176).
Near complete maintenance records available. Mechanical condition is excellent and car has great pickup, shifts great, and zips right up to the 7500 rpm redline.
Driver side window needs repair (won't roll down). I am second owner. Purchased car in around 1999 from optometrist with 70,000 miles on the clock. Absolutely no oil leaks! Only 165,000 well-maintained miles. Premium sound system. HKS Sport exhaust & K & N Air filter. Some parts may still be under warranty as noted. Would make a nice daily driver. Very clean interior.
Installed are Infinity 6-1/2" speakers in the rear decklid, and 6-1/2" Sony speakers in the doors. They are powered by a 880 watt Sony high power amplifier in the trunk, that is ready to power the subwoofer of one's choice. The CD head unit is a Clarion model with MP3 capability and a line in to easily attach an iPod, iPhone, or android phone for tunes.
Missing is the antenna - a replacement will have to be sourced. The rear trunk opens from inside the car using the opener device, but the key doesn't open the trunk as there is an issue with the mechanism. The rear window tint is peeling, but intact.
The car was fairly recently painted, so the paint looks nice. The SE-R and Sentra emblems were removed when the car was repainted, at my request.
The foglamps are not working, but I replaced the lenses. It just needs a relay. I could not seem to find the replacement relay from the Nissan Parts department without bringing the part in. These minor issues can be easily fixed, but I have concentrated on keeping the engine well maintained and in tip-top operating condition.
This motor will zip right up to the 7500rpm in a hurry.
There is a very minor water leak around the trunk. There is some undercoating on the inside of the doors around the hinges to retard any rust. These cars were notorious for rusting profusely, and this is a Florida car so it has actually very little rust for a 1991 SE-R.
Interestingly, the vehicle history report says that the car was in an accident before it was sold to me--before tying to sell the car here on ebay I was not aware of this!
Any questions, to schedule a test drive, inquire about a professional inspection, or to make an offer, please contact me, and thanks for looking!

Nissan Leaf becomes least expensive 5-seat EV with massive price drop
Mon, 14 Jan 2013In a roundtable interview today at the North American International Auto Show, Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn announced a $6,400 price drop for the base-model 2013 Nissan Leaf. Last year's base model was $35,200, while the new base-level 2013 Leaf S starts at $28,800. Ghosn says the new prices make the Leaf the least expensive five-seater electric for sale in the US.
Some of the lower cost is due to a difference in content from last year's low-end model to this year's. But a sizable portion can be chalked up to the Leaf's production moving from Japan to Tennessee. The 2013 Leaf is not only assembled in the US now, but its lithium-ion batteries and the car's electric motors are manufactured in the same southern state.
The Leaf SV will be priced from $31,820 for 2013 compared to $35,200 last year. The high-end Leaf SL now starts at $34,840, down from the 2012 model's $37,250. These models also have differences in content. One big one is a new 6.6-kWh charger that reduces charging times pretty dramatically.
Nissan rolls Versa Note inside world's largest zorb [w/video]
Mon, 27 Oct 2014With features like lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and moving object detection bundled into its Safety Shield suite, Nissan touts the Versa Note as among the safer vehicles on the road. And to highlight that, the Japanese automaker has taken its diminutive hatchback Zorbing.
Zwhat now, you ask? Zorbing. It's a sport (really more of a recreational activity, if you ask us) that involves getting into a giant inflatable ball, rolling down a slope and, well... that's about the extent of it. It's the same thing we did on hills as kids, only with more plastic. And ridicule.
The CarZorb which Nissan had crafted for the Note measures 60 feet around and weighs a metric ton. Nissan tested the device, which took two months to make, at a "top secret military training facility in the UK," then placed the hatchback inside and rolled it down a hill, all for the sake of the two-minute video clip below. So we hope you enjoy.
Nissan reveals the face of the new Qashqai
Mon, 04 Nov 2013Last week Nissan revealed the first teaser image previewing its upcoming new Qashqai. That one was wearing a big sheet and showed us little other than its basic shape and a few highlighted details, but now the Japanese automaker has released the first undisguised-ish image of the new European-market crossover.
From the image above we can tell the new Qashqai will carry the familiar face of Nissan's latest crossovers well, with the U-shaped grille and angular LED accents in the headlamp clusters. The sharp creases in the hood also make it stand out as quintessentially Japanese, particularly in a crossover market where they can all start to look the same.
We'll have to wait just a few more days to see the full thing, with the reveal set for November 7, but Nissan also released a tidy infographic showing just how successful the outgoing Qashqai has been for it in the European market. Check it out below.
