- This 2001 Nissan Pathfinder LE 4x4 is the top of the line trim for its model year, originally retailing at approximately $34,000 back when she was new! She still runs absolutely beautifully and will be a great car for your city errands or big mountain adventures. I'll be sad to part ways with her, but just bought a new car and certainly don't need two cars.
- 240 hp V6, 265 ft-lbs torque. She loves charging up big, steep mountain passes at highway speeds, and doesn't even break a sweat doing so. Excellent power. One of my favorite features of the car.
- V6, DOHC engine
- MPG 14 city, 18-19 highway, 16-17 mixed use
- Front seat power options have 6-way adjustments, including height adjustable, and also manual lumbar support for the driver's side - very comfortable for long drives
- Luxurious simulated wood trim on dash
- Seats 5, rear seats fold down for expanded cargo space. Large middle armrest available when only 2 passengers are in the rear seats. Rear cupholders.
- Selling at a great price as I just want a no-hassle, quick purchase for this vehicle. The asking price reflects ALL noted wear & tear, as a top asking price for this car is in the $4500-5000 range, and this car has been listed recently at CarMax for more than $5,000!
- Full service records available
- Scheduled maintenance completed at all recommended intervals, including at 120K miles
- Fresh oil change, done in August 2013, less than 1,000 miles ago
- Tires in excellent condition, premium Michelin light truck/SUV LTX mud/snow all-season tires, have 20,000 miles on them (warrantied for 70,000 miles). Will throw in $120 tire chains for FREE, only used once!
- New battery in June 2013
- New front and rear windshield wipers (hey, it's the little details that count)
- New front rotors & front brake pads in July 2013, rear brakes were reported to be in good condition at the time
- Just passed smog in August 2013, detailed test results and smog certificate available
- Clean registration and clear title
- No major accidents. Only one minor incident, brushed up against a parking garage pole at 3 MPH, which required front bumper/fender repair, but no structural damage.
- Paint is fading on the rear driver's side bumper, a bit rusty by the driver's side mirror & on top of the moonroof in minor spots.
- Driver's seat is torn, could be stitched back together or easily covered up with a cloth seat cover if desired
- Check engine light comes on at times, I've been advised that the catalytic converter isn't performing fully up-to-specs, but it does not affect the day-to-day performance of the car. Despite this issue, Big Blue still passed smog in August 2013, so if/when you want to repair this, is up to you. She still runs at the advertised MPG, and is not due for another smog inspection for two more years, so no any immediate repair need.
- CD player doesn't work, doesn't matter to me since I just plug in a FM transmitter to create an AUX input and play music via a iPhone/MP3 player anyway.
- Clock doesn't work anymore, guess maybe a bulb or fuse burned out but if you know how to replace it, knock yourself out.
- Remote key fob needs to be reprogrammed, could be programmed yourself if you know how to do it. Otherwise just use the key for manual entry.

Nissan to give Qashqai the Nismo treatment
Sat, 30 Nov 2013Nismo is on a bit of a rampage lately. Once consigned to the fringes, Nissan has taken its performance sub-brand into the mainstream and let it loose on a whole mess of its products. The Juke Nismo was followed by a 370Z Nismo, and in Los Angeles, we saw the GT-R Nismo, Sentra Nismo concept and Juke Nismo RS.
So what's next from Nismo? According to the latest intel from across the pond, Nissan is working on a tuned version of its new Qashqai. Car magazine is reporting that the larger crossover will get the same 1.6-liter turbo four as the Juke Nismo, but with the RS model's 212-horsepower out and not the "base" model's 197. Expect all the other bells and whistles applied to transform a Nissan model into a Nismo one to apply as well.
If the Qashqai name doesn't ring any proverbial bells for you, that's alright, because it's only sold overseas, where it's one of Nissan's most popular models. The crossover (which looks like the new Rogue but is a substantially different model) was recently completely replaced, with engine options ranging up to 150 horsepower - so the jump to over 200 should make for quite a different beast altogether. Whether a parallel or subsequent program to give the Rogue a similar treatment is another matter, but given the pace at which Nismo seems to be running, that may only be a matter of time.
'Qashqai' so hard to pronounce even Nissan is poking fun at it
Mon, 14 Apr 2014In the US, there aren't a lot of vehicle names that are very difficult to pronounce. Maybe the Volkswagen Touareg might trip up a few people, but by and large, we've got it pretty easy. Our friends in Europe, though, have a bigger challenge, thanks to vehicles like the Nissan Qashqai. Yes, Qashqai.
Like the Touareg, the Qashqai draws its name from a nomadic people. While Nissan isn't making up words, then, it's still not an easy name to pronounce. Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson routinely calls it a kumquat, for example. According to Nissan, though, it's pronounced "Cash'kai".
To get its point across as the second-gen Qashqai, the close cousin of the US market Rogue, prepares to launch in Australia, Nissan set up a little event at a coffee shop. Customers would place their orders, only to have the spelling of their names butchered rather badly. On the other side of the cup, there's a message from Nissan and the Qashqai.
