The 2013 Nissan NV200 cargo van is the newest and the smallest offering within the family of commercial vehicles from Nissan. It has tall 60/40 split French doors in the rear that open 180 degrees, a sliding door on the driver and passenger sides, lots of interior height, and a low load floor for easier access to your work materials. It has a modern design with a slender body, bold sculpting, and large sloped driver and passenger windows. It has great forward visibility and it drives more like a crossover than a cargo van. Plus, with an impressively tight 36.7 foot turning diameter, it is perfect for maneuvering urban environments or wherever your business takes you. Inside, the NV200 has 122.7 cubic feet of cargo space. Plus, it comes with a multi-function center console that can hold a laptop computer or hanging files, and a front passenger seat that folds down to double as a work desk. The NV200 is offered in two trims: the base S and the SV. Both share a 2.0-Liter, 131 hp, 4-cylinder engine paired with a Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission. Both get an EPA estimated 24 MPG City and 25 MPG Highway. The Base S trim comes generously equipped with cloth front seats that are manually-adjustable, a 2-speaker sound system with an auxiliary input, air conditioning, a floor protector for the cargo bay, and black exterior trim. Move up to the higher-level SV and you get remote keyless entry, cruise control, and two 12V DC power outlets. As an option you can get an available Rear Door Glass Package. There is also an available Technology Package that includes a 5.8-inch display, a navigation system, a backup camera, Bluetooth, Google Send to Car, and Pandora radio compatibility. For safety the 2013 NV200 comes with 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, brake assist, Vehicle Dynamic Control with Traction Control, and an array of airbags. Rimac Automobili founder Mate Rimac invited the Earl of Pembroke to drive his 1,088-horsepower EV, while he'd drive Lord Pembroke's Bugatti for comparison. While Tesla doesn't recommend using Autopilot in these conditions, it seems to manage rather well. Even thought the system shows that it doesn't always recognize the curb, the car doesn't instruct the driver to take control. It's possible that data plays a key role when there aren't other guiding factors on the road, and Tesla's high resolution mapping and the car's GPS could help navigate when there is little sensor input. Andromeda Power uses its V2V Orca Inceptive onboard charger, which is meant for CHAdeMO to CHAdeMO charging. Hyundai increase the range of its Tucson Fuel Cell by 30 percent. The next generation of the hydrogen powered Hyundai is expected in early 2018, and range will jump from 265 miles on a full tank to 348 miles. Renault taking Alpine endurance racing, enters 24 Hours of Le Mans
Sun, 10 Mar 2013Renault isn't letting up with the return of its Alpine brand. After announcing a partnership with Caterham to bring a new Alpine to market by 2015 (now expected by 2016), the French firm has announced it is taking Alpine racing again in the European Le Mans Series this year - and that includes The 24 Hours of Le Mans.
It has been 35 years since Alpine last competed in Le Mans, when it won the race outright and dropped the mic as it left the pits, never to return. Before that, in the 11 years it campaigned in the most famous endurance race on the planet from 1963 to 1978, it took seven class wins.
Caterham won't be involved with the race team, however; that will be an effort spearheaded by the Signatech-Nissan team that has been running GT Academy winners in LMS racing. Alpine is preparing an LMP2 chassis that will get a 500-horsepower Nissan engine for this year's championship, with the first two named drivers being Nelson Panciatici (above right) and Pierre Ragues (above left). The third driver for Le Mans will be announced later this month when the racer is launched at the Le Castellet race track in southern France.
