Up for sale is my 2006 Nissan Murano SL AWD w/ CVT transmission. It is gray with a black cloth interior. Personally owned for 4 years, the car has been cared for intimately with meticulous maintenance and tasteful upgrades. Each upgrade and maintenance item is listed in detail below:

Engine

  • Runs like a finely tuned VQ35DE should. Well cared for with 5W-30 Mobil One and fresh filters every 5,000 miles since I picked her up. No sludge buildup over the years.
  • At 101,000, the following were replaced with new OEM parts: timing chain tensioners, timing chain guides, water pump, water pump gasket, crank position sensor, alternator, oil cooler gasket, oil cooler line, and all front and main seals. The rear main seal started leaking at 100,000 so I had the entire engine serviced. I decided to have the timing parts changed while the motor was worked on because they have a tendency to go bad (plastic).
  • At 102,000, I installed a Kinetix stainless steel intake manifold, Injen cold air intake, NWP Engineering thermal intake manifold spacer, and 2JR light weight crank pulley. Recalibrated air/fuel ratio with Consult II to ensure motor runs cooler and efficient thus ensuring extended life of motor and accessories.
  • At 107,000, I installed 6 new NKG spark plugs and replaced 3 of 6 ignition coils. Upon removing spark plugs 3 of the boots looked worn so I replaced them. I also installed a new OEM valve cover and fresh valve cover gasket as the old one looked worn.
  • At 109,000, I performed a coolant flush for maintenance. Car does not burn any coolant and head gasket is in good shape.

Transmission & Transfer Case

  • All seals between CVT, transfer case and motor were replaced at 101,000 while motor was serviced. Full flushes with recommended fluids performed at the same time. Shifts smooth, is predictable, and runs strong. No issue whatsoever with both these items.
  • AWD tested and works flawlessly.

Also note – Nissan has an extended warranty that applies to this car for the CVT:

“First, to provide you with additional assurance regarding your overall cost of ownership we have doubled the warranty period for the Continuously Variable Transmission in your Nissan. The existing powertrain warranty coverage of 5 years/60,000 miles will be extended at no cost to you, for CVT repairs, replacements or related towing, to 10 years/120,000 miles, whichever comes first.”

This means you still get comprehensive CVT coverage when purchasing this car for another 8,000 miles or 2 years – whichever comes first.

Exhaust

  • At 106,000, I installed a new Y-Pipe which included a brand new catalytic converter, Magnaflow center resonator, and Flowmaster rear muffler. I kept the OEM exahust tips to ensure a clean, stock look. All work performed by an exhaust shop with welded joints, custom connecting pipes, and new flanges. 2 new A/F upstream sensors replaced as well as 2 downstream O2 sensors at the time of installation keep this car emissions friendly. Murano sounds very throaty and deep, similar to the growl heard on the Infinity QX SUV. This is the best VQ35DE I have ever heard. Not one sign of annoying rasp. You only get a deep, throaty, satisfying engine growl. Truly a pleasure to drive.

Suspension

  • At 98,000, I installed H&R springs with new KYB shocks all around. Upfront I replaced both control arms with 100% new versions, which included new ball joints. Also installed were new outer tie rod ends on both sides, both half shafts (axles) as well as the driver side wheel bearing. Please be aware the springs have slightly lowered the vehicle thus causing the suspension to be slightly more stiff than stock. All camber/caster was adjusted with 4 wheel alignment.  Steering is straight and tight. Car rides extremely smooth.
  • Wheels are in decent shape with minor rash on 1 of the rear wheels (see pics). Some blemishes here and there but otherwise good shape.
  • Tires have 80% tread life. They are 235/60/18 Michelin Primacy MXV4. I purchased these for the stellar reviews. They ride extremely quiet, smooth, and grip in all seasons without hesitation. I truly believe tires can make or break a vehicle's handling capabilities and took no chances with this choice.
  • 4 wheel alignment performed at 109,000.
  • Front brakes are good with about 50% life, rear a little less with about 30% remaining. Cross drilled rotors have about 70% life left. Plenty of meat left for another go around with new pads.

Body

  • Body is in good shape with minor dings and marks on the bumper covers as expected on a vehicle with 100,000 miles. Badges were shaved off the trunk lid. Headlight housings have been replaced with darker versions to add to the look of the vehicle. E&G Classics Z Style polished grill installed. OEM grill included with purchase in case you want to swap them out.

Interior

  • Cloth seats and upholstery in excellent shape. Non-smoker. No holes, runs or blemishes. Typical minor wear marks on steering wheel, shifter, and silver center console trim pieces. All function well. Silver cupholder door needs persuading to close. It's not outright broken and will fold up/down, but I felt obligated to mention it as it obviously is not smooth like new.
  • Black Weathertec laser molded all-weather front floor mats purchased as soon as I picked up the vehicle. I've always driven with these mats and because of this the carpet beneath them is in excellent shape. You'll see in the pics the rugs are perfect. Weathertec mats come with the car.
  • In dash Sony DVD/CD player will full size touch screen. Car came W/O Bose system. Metra installation kit integrated with HVAC controls. Looks sharp, sounds great! Bypass kit installed for DVD player so passenger and guests can enjoy video while you are driving and focused on the road.
  • Back up camera, HVAC, and vehicle diagnostic system work great.

General & Terms

I feel I have posted enough details and pictures to help you make an informed purchase. If for any reason you want additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I understand the implications of purchasing a used vehicle and feel this Murano will last you years on end with little to no attention to anything other than the typical maintenance items such as oil, brakes, etc. Drive and go. It truly is a pleasure to drive. Tight steering and handling plus the added horsepower throughout the power band make any drive very satisfying. I am selling this vehicle because I want a full size pick up as I do a lot of side work which requires bed space.

There is no spare tire included in this auction. Random items such as extra oil filters, the old OEM radio, and OEM HVAC/radio interface are included. I always kept many spare items on hand as I was meticulous regarding maintenance as you can tell. This car drives better than new and basically all of the wear items were replaced. You’re pretty much getting a new Murano.

Please note there is a lien on the vehicle. The selling cost will cover what is owed so once I receive payment I will forward to Capital One who will issue the title to me. At that point I will immediately sign it over to you. The whole process takes a day or two. I just want to make you aware that once payment is made you can pick up the car or have it shipped within a few days. Any questions please send me a note or ask for my number to discuss.

I will gladly accept a cashiers check or cash if you are local. No Paypal deposit required. You are required to contact me or provide a number within 2 business days of auction end so we can facilitate the transaction.

Thanks for looking!

Nissan Qashqai caught looking sleek

Wed, 03 Jul 2013

The next-generation of the not-for-US-consumption Nissan Qashqai has been out doing some testing in southern Europe this week. And, if the dressed-in-trash-bags look is any indication, it's been doing a lot of roadwork so it can make weight for the big meet the weekend.
Nissan designers haven't been scared to take big design chances with recent new models, so expectations are that the Qashqai crossover will get a bold new visage for its generational changeover. What we see in these photos indicates a sleeker, slightly trimmer CUV however, with no trace of the bug-eyed look we captured recently on a testing Titan.
In the rest of the world, it's a good bet that the Qashqai will be powered by engines ranging from a 1.2-liter turbo up to a 1.6-liter forced-induction unit; that larger one good for something like 215 horsepower. Diesel powerplants will be in the mix, too, for the compact CUV, and word is that Nismo might get its hands on this Rogue cousin for the first time ever.

2015 Nissan Murano to hit the stage in NY

Tue, 18 Feb 2014

When the Nissan Murano launched in the early-2000s it was one of the first crossovers to eschew truck-like looks in favor of more sporty styling. For the third generation, Nissan is rumored to be taking the CUV's design even farther with inspiration from the wild Resonance concept that debuted at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. According to Edmunds, Nissan will unveil the next-generation, 2015 Murano and an unnamed concept at the New York Auto Show in April.
The new Murano will go on sale this fall on the same front-wheel drive platform as the Altima, Pathfinder and next-gen Maxima. Its size will be roughly unchanged compared to the current model, and there won't be a seven-seater option. Nissan spokesman Dan Bedore told Edmunds that it already offers "three rows in the Rogue as an option and three rows in the Pathfinder for everything. We don't need another three-row crossover." There will also be a rumored hybrid version using the Pathfinder's supercharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a 22-horsepower electric motor and lithium-ion battery. To disappoint the dozen people who will miss it, the much-maligned Murano CrossCabriolet will not make it to the third generation. Let's all shed a tear.

Race Recap: 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans defines 'endurance'

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

Commenting on the rush of events that rocked beginning and end of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Paul Truswell of Radio Le Mans said "the race is about the ability to endure, not just the ability of drivers to do what they do for a long time." The entire race machine, all the way down to the pit boards and radios, has to survive the stress and abuse of the entire day. This was the race to prove those words.
There were two Toyotas, two Porsches and three Audis, five of the seven led the race at some point, six of the seven ran in the top three. Toyota will be hugely disappointed that it didn't win when its car and drivers were so, so strong, but they gave Audi the kind of scare we haven't seen since the best of Peugeot's days, and Toyota did a better job of it even in the loss. Porsche blew away everyone's expectations, falling 3.5 hours short of a fairy tale ending that would have made Disney cry.
But Le Mans doesn't really do fairy tales. Well, not that fairy tale. Audi's Twitter handle during the event was #welcomechallenges. As usual, Le Mans answered for the entire field.
