2006 nissan maxima. ive owned this car since october 2011, it was a great car for a while but shortly after buying the car the transmission started acting weird. by weird i mean, the car would drive fine for a while but if i got on the interstate and then got back off on a slower road, the car didnt want to shift down. after a month or so i took it to a mechanic and he basically said it needs a new transmission. also at the same time the engine started making a ticking noise but not like a rod knocking more like someting was loose. i asked my mechanic and he told me it was an idle tensioner for the timing chain. basically when the engine is at idle the timing chain has a little slack in it compared to when its driving. this is normal, but what the tensioner does is make the chain tight when its at idle. the ticking noise is the timing chain rubbing against the housing as it turns. currently doesnt affect the engine at all but over time it could cause the chain to pop off. $60 part but $300 for part and labor from my mechanic. from what ive researched its fairly common in these engines. the ticking stops while the car is in drive and is accelerating.

the car is driveable right now as long as its driven easily with no hard accelerations. but i would recomend having the issues fixed before driving it daily.

ok so heres the details i know about the car.

154,000 miles
automatic
practically flawless body and interior (only minor hood chips on the hood from the road and slight chrome peeling on the grill)

tennessee car originally and was used as a sales car which is why is has as many miles for its age.

im basically just looking to get some of my money back out if it. it has been sitting for around a year
new battery
very clean car from front to back.

price is slightly negotiable but keep in mind its very underpriced already compared to if it was a flawless car.

my phone is 256-683-two385 and my name is matt, call or text any time, leave a message if needed

Ghosn says having Apple in EV business would be good news

Sat, Mar 7 2015

Nissan once promised to have commercially viable autonomous vehicles on the road by 2020 and even certified a Leaf to test the technology in Japan. The company has since backpedaled a bit from its original lofty claims, though. During CEO Carlos Ghosn's keynote presentation at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, the auto exec talked more about the automaker's strategy and directly confronted Apple's rumored entry into the market. "When Apple says they are going to come with an electric car in 2020, that's good news for us," he said in his speech, according to Adweek. Ghosn took the view that any company able to grow the acceptance of EVs would help every automaker in the segment. The Renault-Nissan Alliance has been at the forefront of developing the market and claimed nearly 60 percent of the global market share last year. He was also the latest auto industry heavyweight to voice his opinion on Apple entering the industry. However, in contrast to former General Motors boss Dan Akerson, the Nissan CEO was much more welcoming. Ghosn also used the speech as a chance to clarify Nissan's plans for autonomous vehicles and seemingly pushed the original goal back by about five years. "In 10 years, you'll have cars without the driver. It is here, and it's going to transform the products," he said, according to Adweek. Under Nissan's current timeline, traffic-jam assist and fully automated parking are due in 2016, followed by automatic lane changing in 2018 and the ability to drive through intersections without a driver's control comes in 2020. Next-gen Nissan Leaf will look more mainstream, have more range

Thu, May 8 2014

The next-generation Nissan Leaf battery-electric vehicle will look better and go farther on a single charge, company executives tell Automotive News. How much better and how much farther remains to be seen, as does the timing on when the new version will be available to the public. Nissan executive Andy Palmer, speaking recently at the Beijing Motor Show, implied that an electric vehicle would need to have a 185-mile single-charge range to be competitive with hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles, once those arrive in larger numbers. While Nissan boosted its single-charge range by about 15 percent for the 2014 model-year Leaf, the automaker would need to double it to reach that competitive threshold. This seems unlikely for the next-gen model, but we can start making our guesses as to how many more miles Nissan will put into the pack. Regardless, the next-generation Leaf, which may come out around 2017, will at least look a bit more mainstream while it reaches for more range, Automotive News says, citing Nissan global design chief Mamoru Aoki. Indeed, the car, which will keep its hatchback layout, will likely look less angular, said Aoki, who complimented Tesla for the way it styled its Model S luxury electric sedan. Nissan's Infiniti arm could also debut its delayed luxury electric vehicle in 2017, complete with the improved battery pack. Angular looks and all, Nissan continues to increase sales in the US. Leaf sales through April were up 33 percent from 2013, to 7,272 units after more than doubling sales last year to 22,610 vehicles.

Ghosn orders Nissan USA to double sales by 2017

Mon, 13 May 2013

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn has just one teensy-weensy request for its United States arm: Double your sales by 2017.
"China was not our biggest, I would say, disappointment. It was mainly the United States. We were expecting a strong year in the United States. It didn't happen," Ghosn said, speaking at a conference after announcing Nissan's 2012 fiscal results, Automotive News reports. Because of this, Ghosn has ordered his US executives to iron out the problems that affected new vehicle launches and to strengthen the company's dealer network.
In 2012, Nissan's US sales rose to 1.1 million units - a five-percent increase, and a record, at that. But the company's overall market share fell from 8.2 percent to 7.7 percent, putting the company further away from its goal of having a 10-percent stake overall.
