I have owned this car for a year and have loved it.  I have always been a fan of the GTR because of it's amazing performance for the price.  If you have clicked on this then you know about the GTR.  I don't need to nor do you want to read some list of performance specs for the car.  I won't waste your time.

This is the Premium model so it won't beat the crap out of you on regular streets like the Black Edition.  Also it has the all black interior and not the horrible red and black interior.  What the heck was Nissan thinking!?  I had a harder time finding the Premium edition when I was shopping for the GTR but I'm glad I found this car.

The car has no modifications.  The wheels are aftermarket and can go with the car.  I also have the factory wheels available if you want them instead.  Both sets of wheels can be negotiated in the deal.  The aftermarket set are very nice but I'm a dipshit and somehow curbed both rear wheels.  The scuffs are not bad but are there.  I took pictures of both scrapes so you can see them.  The aftermarket wheels are made by Klassen and they forged.  The rear tires are Nitto Invo 315/35R20 and the fronts are Nitto Invo 275/40R20.  Tires have less than 900 miles on them.

Exterior has no rock chips.  Interior still smells new and is non smoking.  Car has not been tracked or abused.  I've launched it a couple of times (how can you not try that!!) but it has been mostly a saturday night dinner car with my wife.  Always garaged and always waxed and clean.

I am always interested in trades.  I will trade book value for book value so pick whether you want to do wholesale, trade, or retail.  Doesn't matter to me as long as it is apples to apples.  No rat rods, classics, motorcycles, motor homes, or boats.  I don't want something that is impossible to sell.  Looking for black two doors with low miles and high horsepower.  Do not want cars with aftermarket mods.

Please let me know if I can help you and I'll be glad to do it.  I don't mind getting a PPI for the car but it is your responsibility to set it up.  Inspection at my shop only and I will not allow someone to come pick it up to take it somewhere.  I have a very busy schedule and it is very tough for me to take the car to a dealership and wait for it while it gets a PPI.

Last thing, use the Best Offer option.  You never know what kind of a day I'm having and you might just hit me right and you might own this car for a screaming deal!  I've got the itch for a new car and I have the title in hand so let me know what you can do.

Ghosn: 'We are getting there' on making Nissan Leaf profitable

Thu, Oct 2 2014

After 19 months in a row of record sales in the US, the money picture for the Nissan Leaf is steadily improving. To date (well, until the end of September), Nissan has sold 63,944 Leaf EVs in the US and a total of around 140,000 globally. The company produces the electric vehicle in three countries: Japan, the UK and the US and has sold more standard passenger EVs than any other automaker. Add all that up and you get to an EV that is just about to be profitable. "We are getting into positive, which is good for this technology." – Carlos Ghosn At least, it is according to Carlos Ghosn, the CEO of Renault-Nissan, who spoke to reporters at that Paris Motor Show this week. "We are getting there [to Leaf profitability]," Ghosn told Automotive News. "Are we amortizing and depreciating everything we have spent? No. But if you look at margin of profit – the direct cost of the car and the revenue of the car – we are getting into positive, which is good for this technology." Automakers are notoriously closemouthed when it comes to sharing specifics about the higher cost of alternative vehicle technologies compared to standard ICE vehicles. Still, statements like this – as well as a knowledge about how long it took Toyota to make money from the Prius and overall industry amortization – show that Nissan could well be sitting pretty when it comes to keeping EVs around for the long term. Given some of the other news we've heard recently, it's got to be nice to have some stability.

DC fast charging not as damaging to EV batteries as expected

Mon, Mar 17 2014

As convenient as DC fast charging is, there have been lots of warnings that repeated dumping of so many electrons into an electric vehicle's battery pack in such a short time would reduce the battery's life. While everyone agrees that DC fast charging does have some effect on battery life, it may not be as bad as previously expected. Over on SimanaitisSays, Dennis Simanaitis, writes about a recent presentation by Matt Shirk of the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) called DC Fast, Wireless, And Conductive Charging Evaluation Projects (PDF) that describes an ongoing test of four 2012 Nissan Leaf EVs that are being charged in two pairs of two. One pair only recharges from 50-kW DC fast chargers, which the other two sip from 3.3-kW Level 2 chargers exclusively. Otherwise, the cars are operated pretty much the same: climate is automatically set to 72 degrees, are driven on public roads around Phoenix, AZ and have the same set of dedicated drivers is rotated through the four cars. "Degradation depends more on the miles traveled than on the nature of recharging." What's most interesting are the charts on page seven of Shirk's presentation (click the image above to enlarge), which show the energy capacity of each of the four vehicles. When they were new, the four batteries were each tested to measure their energy capacity and given a 0 capacity loss baseline. They were then tested at 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 and 40,000 miles, and at each point, the DC-only EVs had roughly the same amount of battery loss as the Level 2 test subjects. The DC cars did lose a bit more at each test, but only around a 25-percent overall loss after 40k, compared to 23 percent for the Level 2 cars. Simanaitis' takeaway is that, "INL data suggest that the amount of degradation depends more on the miles traveled than on the nature of recharging." The tests are part of the INLs' Advanced Vehicle Testing Activity work and a final report is forthcoming. These initial numbers from IPL do mesh with other research into DC fast charging, though. Mitsubishi said daily fast charging wouldn't really hurt the battery in the i-MiEV and MIT tests of a Fisker Karma battery showed just 10-percent loss over 1,500 rapid charge-discharge cycles.

Nissan Friend-Me Concept is cooler than its name

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

Here is the Nissan Friend-Me, a swoopy - and let us emphasize that word "swoopy" - sedan-with-a-hatchback developed specifically for Chinese youth in their mid-twenties, the ones born in the '80s mainly bereft of siblings due to China's one-child policy. The exterior is meant to be most imposing at night, when Nissan figures these single children will be getting together with their friends. The sheetmetal looks like it was shaped by waves, and the details like lighting and vent openings could have been penned on Krypton.
The real show is inside, where peers are made equal and can interact with one another via the "oracle stone." The concept is that instead of a driver and three passengers, everyone gets access to the same information and the ability to alter the ambiance of the car - dash readouts are provided for all of the occupants, and anyone can move content from their phones to the in-car screens to be shared throughout. As Nissan says, it's the end of anyone being a "music dictator."
Designed by Nissan Design China for a specific market-within-a-market estimated to contain 240 million potential buyers, Nissan says the wishes of these customers and the ideas in this car could shape automotive offerings for decades to come. So read all about it in the press release below and take some long virtual looks in the galleries of high-res photos.
