(Light Weight Racing Rims) (2) New Nankang Ultra Sport II 275/35 ZR 19 tires and (2) New Nankang Ultra Sport II 245/35 ZR 19 tires. The car has some normal wear and tear, considering it is 11 years old. There are a few scratches on the exterior, a small dent on the passenger side (see picture), and a dent on one of the rims (Wheels Of America will fix for $150). Everything is cosmetic and can be fixed quickly. I bought this from the second owner, who lives in Pennsylvania. Despite the dent in the rim, the car had no problem with the 700 mile drive home. The tires maintained air pressure and the ride was smooth. I purchased this car because I was looking for a fast, fun car to drive on the weekends. This car appealed to me because of all the extras it had. It is packed with tons of horse power and the stereo system is awesome! It is a total thrill to drive! Even though I have a family and kids, I thought it would work. Well, it didn't. I found myself watching it sit in the garage or sneaking out for a very quick ride. (not that I minded, but the family wasn't too thrilled) I recently put a new ACT Extreme street clutch in the car because I didn't like the feel of the old one. I chose the ACT because it was built for horse power and yet offered a smooth stock feel. It's a great clutch and offers great street ability. The 350Z's are known to have problems with the window regulators, so I replaced both window regulators in the Fall 2013. The rims each are $2,000 (new) SSR GT3 special edition first run rims that are ALL CHROME. The rims could be refinished to make them look new again and the dent in the driver's front could be fixed. I took the rims to Wheels of America and was told it would cost about $150 per tire to refinish and fix the dent. I thought that was extremely reasonable considering the cost of new rims. The interior is in great condition. No tears, rips or stains. The car has grey seats and black carpet. Very clean too! The car is mechanically sound and everything works. She runs great! Has tons of muscle. Handles great! I hate to sell her but I have to stick with a 4-seater. Anyone looking for speed and power need look no further. This car has it all! The engines in these cars were designed to run more than 200,000 miles. The problem that people run into with boosted Z's is that they over boost the motor. The weakness of the motor is due to the connecting rods and the pistons (high compression). This in combo with high boosts, causes the motor to fail. To truly turn this car into a 500 horsepower monster, one would only have to change out the connecting rods and the pistons, thus lowering the compression of the motor. Then one could safely boost into the teens. Everything else has already been done. The boost on this low-mileage motor has been set at only 6 PSI to ensure long motor durability. The reserve for this car is extremely low because it has to go because I've already purchased that god-awful 4-seater! If you live in the area, feel free to come by and inspect it before the auction ends.

Can a car be lifted using rubber bands?
Sat, 19 Jan 2013It's quite amazing what it takes to lift a car. We already know the feat can be accomplished using just a pair of phone books, but what about rubber bands? To the Internet! A video series appropriately titled "Will It Lift" attempted to find out by using a massive crane and a Nissan Micra weighing less than 1,800 pounds.
Doing a little math, the trio determined that it would take 180 rubber bands to support the car. A metal bar was placed through the window openings and another was place atop the car, and then attached together using the rubber bands and hooked to the crane. Now these aren't any special rubber bands or anything. They're just eight-millimeters thick, but the stunt is testing the rubber bands' power in numbers.
We're not going to spoil it for you, so scroll down to check out the video of the stunt.
Recharge Wrap-up: Reverse graffiti powered by Nissan Leaf; BMW introduces Wallbox Pro
Mon, Sep 29 2014BMW has a new, faster version of the Wallbox home EV charger. The Wallbox Pro offers 7.4 kilowatts, and can charge the BMW i3 to 80 percent in under three hours. It features a seven-inch touchscreen and proximity sensor, plus an 11.5-foot cord. The Wallbox Pro can also be used with smart home systems such as lighting and heating. The Wallbox Pro is available in Europe, and will come to the US later in the year. Read more at Hybrid Cars. Nissan is using the Leaf to power the creation of "reverse graffiti" in London. The company has commissioned artist Moose to selectively wash dirt off of a wall outside of a subway station, leaving behind a mural of London landmarks. Moose used a jet washer powered by the Leaf's battery to create the piece. The goal is to highlight the amount of pollution in London and other large cities, which is not a new idea. "It is a reminder that electric vehicles don't have an exhaust to emit the kind of air pollution which has stained the wall Moose has created his piece on," says Nissan's Jean-Pierre Diernaz. See the artwork in the gallery, and read more in the press release below. Local Motors used a 3D printer to make the Strati electric car in 44 hours. The car was printed with 212 layers of carbon-reinforced ABS thermoplastic. After printing, the team then spent two days finishing the car to make it run. It is powered by the drivetrain from a Renault Twizy, and is capable of 40 miles per hour. Now the question is if this sort of small-scale car manufacturing using 3D printing technology will catch on. See how a car gets printed in the time-lapse video below, and read more over at Treehugger. Nissan cleans up London with the world's first car-powered graffiti - Nissan LEAF powers "Reverse Graffiti" street art in Waterloo - Mass-scale mural imagines a cleaner London, without car fumes - The artwork is on show in Waterloo, London near popular Southbank LONDON – Nissan is highlighting London's battle with air quality in the UK by using the 100% electric Nissan LEAF – the world's best-selling electric vehicle (EV) – to power a striking piece of street art in Waterloo, London that depicts the capital's iconic skyline. Nissan commissioned Reverse Graffiti artist Moose – the founder of his field – to create the mass-scale mural, which was unveiled today. Unlike traditional graffiti, Moose creates his art by cleaning dirt off surfaces using a jet washer or wire brush, leaving a striking design in negative on the wall.
Recharge Wrap-up: Nissan UK battery plant, Hyundai EV/FCEV station
Thu, Jan 21 2016Hyundai has opened a joint hydrogen fueling/EV charging station in South Korea. Called a "Fusion" station, it allows customers to take advantage of both types of alternative energy Hyundai uses for its vehicles. The station in Gwangju began as a hydrogen station, and EV charging capability was added recently. While users will have in common the use of green energy to power their vehicles, it will be interesting to see if spontaneous debates erupt between drivers over the merits of the two alternative powertrains. Hyundai will now use the hydrogen fueling part of the station to study fuel usage. Read more at Inside EVs. EV charging company EverCharge is teaming up with Schneider Electric to provide charging infrastructure to multi-tenant buildings. Because of the limited electricity for buildings like apartments, condominiums and offices – as well as the fact that multiple occupants often share power – installing charging at such locations has been challenging. EverCharge's SmartPower technology senses excess or limited power supply, and uses it to charge multiple vehicles accordingly. The groups will use this technology along with Schneider Electric's EVlink Home EV Charger to provide charging services at these otherwise difficult locations. Read more at Green Car Congress, or at the EverCharge blog. Nissan will build fourth-generation lithium-ion batteries for the Leaf at its plant in Sunderland, England. The announcement comes amidst rumors of the automaker outsourcing battery production. The decision means that Nissan's $37.5 million investment will preserve 300 jobs at the plant. The factory currently manufactures second-generation, 24-kW Leaf and e-NV200 batteries, and imports the third-generation, 30-kW Leaf battery from Nissan's plant in Smyrna, Tennessee. "Today's announcement reflects Nissan's intention to remain EV leaders for many years to come, with our European operations at the heart of our future innovations," says Nissan Europe Chairman Paul Willcox.
