For
a Nissan purist, it is definitely a great piece of history. Be the envy of
other 300 owners when you pull up at Nissan shows or enjoy it on Sundays.
The
Red paint shines like it was still 1985. There is no body damage or accidents,
and it was Ziebarted when new. All of the moldings, handles, window glass,
lettering, roof panels, rubber seals, and all other exterior features are in
super condition. The door panels, t-top bags, sun shields, carpeting, dash,
center console, faceplates, etc. are original and show no wear. The wheels have
no abuse and the tires have are new. It drives straight down the road and
sticks like glue in the curves. It will stop on a dime with 4 wheel disk
brakes!
Never
run through an automatic car wash and always hand washed /waxed and is why it
looks so fabulous. The undercarriage is dry, original, and rust free too.
.
On
the inside, the Tan/Charcoal interior still looks, feels, and smells like new.
As you can see in the pics, the seats have always been covered and have the
TURBO logo on them, and the original floor mats have always been protected. The
door panels, t-top bags, sun shields, carpeting, dash, center console,
faceplates, etc. are flawless. All of the interior buttons / switches - power
windows, door locks, cruise, hatch release, fuel door, and even the clock keeps
perfect time. It has the original luxury stereo, w/15 band equalizer, ambient
controls for driver, passenger, plus defeat. You may pinpoint sound to come
from any corner or blend to your favorite sweet spot. The spare tire
compartment still has the orig. spare and never been on the ground, inflator
canister, jack, bolts are still in place. The interior is original.
Mechanically, it starts, idles, and drives smoothly as you would expect a
"well-oiled" machine would. All of the servicing is up to date - fuel
injector recall, a/c, belts, timing belt, hoses, fluids all changed and
maintained at the proper intervals, The engine compartment / undercarriage are
spotless, and it performs without hesitation. With the Turbocharger you have
power to spare and can feel it in the seat of your pants when the boost glues
you to the seat. The Turbocharger still has factory boost (approx 4 lbs. and
has never been exceeded or modified). As I understand it, it is about half of
its capability. It scares me to think of the power it would produced if were to
be adjusted any higher. I just added K&N Turbo Flow filter and NGK Iridium
sparkplugs ($16.00ea) that alone gave a noticeable boost. The 5 speed engages
easily and has that new car snap and precision. The clutch is like new. It also
has the adjustable 3 set suspension. The A/C is blistering cold and the climate
control monitors cabin temp and air flow, diverting the flow of air from
re-circulate to reduce dust and pollen to fresh air to directing it to the
floor or dash vents. The brakes have plenty of pad left and stop you with
confidence. All of the other mechanical functions perform without issue. If you
are looking for an unmolested; hard to find 300ZX here you go. These cars are
few and far between and will surely appreciate in the years to come. I think it
is priced very fairly compared to the others listed on ebay and what else
exists. Let's put it this way, there is no way anyone would be disappointed in
this car.
*****Now for the record.**** (ABOVE IS THE ORIGINAL AD) This was how the car was
described on e-bay and I was led astray by this charlatans' extravagant
description of this vehicle. Granted the car cosmetically is showroom but I
have listed below the repairs I have had to do to bring car to live up to its
description. I was led into a lie by a charlatan that continues to misrepresent
vehicles to this date and always sells outside of E-bay. I should of been
suspicious when I told him I was going to fly down and drive it back to NC, he
protested adamantly stating "a car like this shouldn't be subjected to
road hazards" he knew it wouldn't make it to the Dade Co. line! I was very na?ve
to buy this car sight unseen and not driven , I had my cousin go look at it in
Miami….. it was a poor report from him, all he said was, “the car
was pretty”, (and cosmetically it is beautiful), I am sure he did not
drive it or look under the hood. I was so excited I bought it even after
extensive questioning over the phone to the seller as to the condition of this
vehicle. This is my second Z and I knew its weak areas He boldly lied
to me at every question, I posed; (and even worse I believed him), and since I
have been contacted by others that he has
misrepresented their vehicles. I have reported him to E-bay with no
success from them, and to the IFD (Internet Fraud Division of the FBI) nothing
came of it and he continues to sell Z’s and VETTE’s and other exotics never
seen a sale as he always puts Reserve Not Met to avoid E-Bay fees.
Below
is the list of what I had to repair. I WILL NOT SELL THIS CAR TO ANYBODY WHO
WILL NOT COME TO SEE/drive IT FIRST!
.
Car was used very little after 15,000 mi. mark. It was garaged and suffered
some degradation from 28yrs. of non use not neglect.
This Z has been gone over and whatever was bad or non-functional was
repaired or replaced. The paint, tires, battery, have been replaced due to
obvious reasons. This car has been gone over with a fine tooth comb and
restored to its former state; cosmetically, mechanically, and functionality. So
that you are aware of the expense involved I have itemized a great deal of the
work performed. Restoring it to a car that wears its original 21,483
miles proudly. And also meets its original description. Cosmetically/Mechanically
this is one Awesome Head Turning Z !

Recharge Wrap-up: first Chevy Volt hits 200K miles, DriveNow launches in London with BMW i3 on deck
Mon, Dec 8 2014The first Chevrolet Volt has driven over 200,000 miles. According to the owner, Erick Belmer, the car, which he purchased on March 28, 2012, is "holding up flawlessly" with "no noticeable battery capacity loss." Belmer has a commute of about 220 miles per day, rotates his tires every 10,000 miles, and gets an oil change every 38,000 miles. Belmer still loves driving his "dream car" every day, and says it is "wonderfully engineered." Read more at Inside EVs. DriveNow has launched in London, and will include the BMW i3 as part of its carsharing fleet. Daimler shut down its Car2go operations there just six months ago. Currently, DriveNow members have access to the BMW 1 Series and Mini Countryman, but come spring of 2015, DriveNow, which is a joint venture between BMW and Sixt SE, will add 30 all-electric i3 EVs to its London service. DriveNow's rates for London are set at 39 pence per minute, with an hourly maximum cost of GBP20 (about 61 US cents and $31, respectively). The service currently operates in the boroughs of Islington, Haringey and Hackney, with hopes of expanded service in the near future. Read more at Hybrid Cars or at Reuters. FIA's Formula E electric racing championship series received the Autosport award for Pioneering and Innovation. The award ceremony was a black-tie event at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag accepted the award. "Many people in motorsport, when we started Formula E, didn't think we would make the first race," says Agag. "To announce we were doing a championship with cars that didn't then exist was a real challenge. But after that first race in Beijing, everything worked." Read more at Formula E's website. The Nissan Leaf has driven over a billion collective kilometers. That's more than 621.3 million miles. Nissan said in August that it expected to reach that mark by January, and it has done just that. To celebrate, Nissan Europe has created a video to thank its 147,000 Leaf drivers to bring the car to that substantial milestone in less than four years. Check out the video below. Nissan GT-R takes a bloody whack at supercar rivals in fake ads
Mon, 23 Jun 2014A big part of what makes a supercar super is how it makes you feel, but the performance stats and bragging rights are undeniably a big part of the equation as well. Which means you can't ignore the fact that, even with its price ever escalating, the Nissan GT-R makes minced meat out of European exotics costing twice or three times as much.
That's the inspiration for this trio of fake ads from photographer Tim Kent. In this mock campaign, Kent has depicted the GT-R as a butcher's knife and the European exotics as pieces of slaughtered meat. Ferrari is symbolized by a package of horse meat, Porsche by a pack of sausages and Lamborghini as a pair of, um... "prairie oysters".
Of course the ads are never going to run anywhere, and if you're squeamish (or vegetarian) we wouldn't suggest looking at them in close proximity to your lunch. But we have to admit they're creative, and effective.
Nissan: We lose money on each Leaf replacement battery
Thu, 24 Jul 2014Nissan has been playing its cards pretty close to its chest when it comes to the production costs for Leaf battery packs. The company recently put a price on replacement batteries for customers at $5,500 plus the requirement to return the old battery. If the decommissioned battery is worth $1,000 to Nissan, as they have stated, that means the battery costs about $6,500 to make, right? Maybe even less if Nissan wants to turn a profit, as automakers are wont to do? Wrong.
Green Car Reports spoke to Nissan about these battery costs, and found that the automaker actually loses money on selling the replacement battery for the Leaf at the current price. Jeff Kuhlman, Nissan's vice president of global communications said, "Nissan makes zero margin on the replacement program. In fact, we subvent every exchange." All you English majors will know that "subvent" is a fancy way to say "subsidize." Kuhlman added, though, "We have yet to sell one battery as part of the program."
The fact that Nissan offers its replacement batteries for less than it costs to manufacture them is telling of a company both cares about what its customer needs and is dedicated to the success of its product. In this case, both of those things encourage people to give up fossil fuels and adopt electric mobility, which is heartening. As more people switch to battery-powered driving, though, battery technology should become better and cheaper, and the scale of production should cause manufacturing costs to decrease. Eventually, Nissan could easily see itself breaking even selling the Leaf battery replacements.
