I bought this car about a year ago for $500 to save it from the junkyard. After $35,000 in parts I have built it into a serious performance machine. It dyno'd at 521rwhp on a Dynocom. They read about 6% low to a Dynojet which would be about 554rwhp. So The car has between 611 and 650hp at the crank. The dyno pulls were done on 93 octane with 21psi of boost. The new GTX2867 turbos from Garret are amazingly efficient. On race fuel this car could go to 800hp.

I have over $35,000 invested in parts alone. Save thousands of dollars by buying a fully finished and worked out car.

I finished the car just a few months ago. I have been to two autocross events and the handling is superb. The power in this car is crazy though. If you push the pedal to the floor in third gear at 80mph you will spin the tires no problem. This car does 80mph to 140mph faster than many high performance cars do 0-60mph. The car has a lot of weight reduction and it is a slicktop to begin with so it tipped the local scale at a mere 3050lbs. That gives this car an insane 5lbs / hp weight ratio. That's better than cars costing $150,000.

I have a wife and three children so I can't drive the car much. When I do drive the car it scares me. This car needs to be purchased by a mature adult. I am 32 and still have a very hard time controlling myself. The power is just too tempting. I want an autocross car. I am planning on getting something more along the lines of a Miata for track use. If you want the ultimate highway terror this is the car for you.

Nissan recalls 226k vehicles over airbag inflators

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

Nissan and Infiniti are the latest automakers to issue recalls involving faulty airbag inflators from Takata. The Japanese automakers have announced campaigns covering about 226,326 units from seven models built in the early 2000s because they contain the bad part in the passenger-side, front airbag. The affected vehicles include the 2002-2004 Nissan Sentra, 2002-2003 Pathfinder and 2002-2003 Maxima, and it also covers the 2002-2003 Infiniti QX4, 2002-2003 I35, 2003 FX45 and 2003 FX35.
Like the other vehicles with the faulty inflators, it's possible for the part to rupture during airbag deployment and spray metal shrapnel at occupants. Nissan and Infiniti have even included vehicles with replacement airbags in this campaign because those parts also could have been defective. Both companies were also part of the earlier regional campaign to fix cars in high-humidity climates where the problem has been found to be the worst.
As is the usual response, Nissan and Infiniti will notify owners of the affected vehicles and will make the repair at no charge. According to the filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these fixes will commence around August 11. Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa resigns, successor to be named

Mon, Sep 9 2019

YOKOHAMA, Japan — Nissan Chief Executive Hiroto Saikawa tendered his resignation Monday after acknowledging that he had received dubious income and vowed to pass the leadership of the Japanese automaker to a new generation. Board member Yasushi Kimura told reporters at an evening news conference at company headquarters in Yokohama that the board has approved Saikawa's resignation, effective Sept. 16, and a successor will be appointed next month. A search is underway, he added. Calls for Saikawa's resignation, which arose after the arrest last year of his predecessor, Carlos Ghosn, on various financial misconduct allegations, have grown louder after Saikawa acknowledged last week that he had received dubious payments. The income was linked to the stock price of Nissan Motor Co., and he has said his pay got inflated by illicitly adjusting the date for cashing in. The automaker's board met to look into the allegations against Saikawa, as well as other issues related to Ghosn's allegations and corporate ethics at the company. Kimura said the income Saikawa had received was confirmed as "not illegal." Ghosn, who is out on bail and awaiting trial, says he's innocent. Kimura and three other board members, who all have backgrounds outside the company, said their investigation of the scandal over Ghosn's arrest found that alleged misconduct by Ghosn and Greg Kelly, a former board member who was also arrested, had caused 35 billion yen ($350 million) in damage to the company. Nissan will seek a repayment of the damages, Kimura said. The board said about 10 candidates are being considered as a replacement for Saikawa. They did not identify them, but said outsiders and non-Japanese are on the list. Until a successor is decided, Chief Operating Officer Yasuhiro Yamauchi will serve as interim chief, the board said. Saikawa has not been charged. "I have been trying to do what needs to be done so that I can pass the baton over as soon as possible," he told reporters earlier in the day, referring to his willingness to leave his job. Saikawa did not appear at the news conference initially, but the four board members who led the event said he would later. Saikawa has said he didn't know about the improprieties, promised to return the money and blamed the system he said Ghosn had created at Nissan for the dubious payments. Japanese media reports said Saikawa had received tens of millions of yen (hundreds of thousands of dollars) in extra compensation.

Watch Formula Drift Championship leader Chris Forsberg drift a 1975 Datsun 280Z

Fri, 11 Apr 2014

Chris Forsberg won the Formula Drift Championship in 2009, was in the catbird seat to win it last year until the final race of the season and started this year's season with a win at Long Beach. That is how he can be provide the example for Clarion USA's tagline, "Dream like a champion."
In this three-minute video for the audio components manufacturer, Forsberg gives up the race suit for a corporate suit, then takes time out of his commute to think about what he'd rather be doing. In a 1975 Nissan 280Z with a turbocharged 2.0-liter Skyline RBDET20 engine. We're sure this has never happened to any of you before.
You can watch how dream begins - and suddenly ends - in the video below.
