1994 Nissan 300zx N/a 5-spd - *** Flood Damaged *** on 2040-cars
Brick, New Jersey, United States
This auction is for a 1994 Nissan 300zx with a normally-aspirated engine and a five speed manual transmission that was FLOODED during Superstorm Sandy. This vehicle is NOT in running condition and is being sold strictly As-Is for parts or restoration. Originally, I was going to have the car repaired, but I do not have the time for another project. This is the second time I am offering this vehicle on Ebay. Unfortunately, the original winner, who was from Canada, had some difficulties dealing with Customs and the deal was never completed. The vehicle has not been re-registered since the flood, but I have the title in hand. Please note...The vehicle report will show a discrepancy in the mileage because, at some point during a registration, somebody accidentally transposed two numbers; the vehicle has 67,214 original miles.
Prior to the storm, this was an all-original, low mileage, garage-kept vehicle in excellent mechanical condition. The car was in my garage during the storm and, as a result of flooding, it sat in approximately thirty inches of water for several hours. When the water receded, we pushed it out of the garage and parked it in my driveway where it was rinsed off and then dried out; this is still where it sits today. No attempt has ever been made to start the car because I would not want to risk damaging the engine until all of the fluids had been replaced just in case any of them were contaminated. The battery is dead, but I did charge it once to see if any of the electronics functioned. Even with a full charge, nothing worked. I only encourage bidders with the mechanical skills to take on such a project. If you decide to e-mail me any questions, please understand I am not a mechanic and no mechanic has ever looked at the car, so I do not know if and/or exactly what would need to be done to the car to get it back up and running. The photos of the vehicle show its current condition; they are not photos taken prior to the flood. |

Nissan teases New York-bound 2015 Murano
Mon, 24 Mar 2014It was over a month ago when we received reports that Nissan would be unveiling the new Murano at the New York Auto Show next month. Now the Japanese automaker has confirmed its imminent arrival, offering up the brief teaser clip below to give us a very faint idea of what to expect.
In announcing the Murano's upcoming debut in Manhattan, the company described the Murano as "the halo vehicle for Nissan's expanding range of bold crossovers and SUVs," previewing the design that will distinguish a whole range of Nissans to follow.
Short of that, we've got little to go on, but we're expecting to see some traits from the Resonance concept of 2013 Detroit vintage finding their way onto the production version of a vehicle that has always been rather stylized from the start. Something (sales figures, perhaps?) tells us that the oddball CrossCabriolet will get lost along the way, not that we'll mind.
2013 Nissan Pathfinder: April 2013
Fri, 26 Apr 2013Not Just For Families
Since our long-term 2013 Nissan Pathfinder joined the Autoblog Garage in late December of last year, the only time I've really spent with it has been during the short periods of time between my co-workers' longer loans. Until now, my experiences with our Mocha Stone tester have been limited to pick-ups and drop-offs at various locations around the greater Michigan/Ohio area, not to mention keeping the vehicle clean inside and out, as well as handling our first bit of scheduled maintenance in late March.
I was pleased, then, to actually be able to spend most of the month of April with our Pathfinder, finally giving me a chance to see what everyone else does and does not like about Nissan's new crossover. But here's the thing: I'm admittedly not the ideal person to test a family-minded vehicle. I'm single and in my late twenties, so something like our other long-term car, the 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo, is better suited to meet my everyday needs.
Is your new-car warranty good at the race track?
Mon, Feb 27 2017We've all heard the horror stories. Your buddy knows a girl that was dating a guy whose best friend's brother once broke his brand-new, recently purchased performance car while making runs at a drag strip or laps at a track day, and the manufacturer wouldn't cover the repair under warranty. True story? Urban legend? Complete crap? Yes, no, maybe. One thing's for sure: Automotive warranties have always come with caveats. In 1908, an ad in the Trenton Evening Times clearly stated: "All Ford Cars Guaranteed for One Year." Although it changed over time, by 1925 the Ford New Car Guarantee only covered 90 days on material and 30 days on labor, and it clearly stated that that there was "No guarantee whatever on Fan Belts, Glass, Bulbs, Wiring, Transmission, Bands, Hose Connections, Commutator Shells, Rollers, Spark Plugs or Gaskets." Whether or not Ol' Henry would pay to fix your Model T if you broke it shaving a tenth off your lap time at the local board track seems to be lost to history. We're guessing no. But what about today? Do new-car warranties in 2017 cover cars when they are driven on race tracks? We researched the warranties of 14 auto brands to find out, and the answer is yes, no, maybe, depending on the brand, in some cases the model, and whether or not your car is modified from stock. Acura has been out of the high-performance car game for a number of years, but jumps back into the party in 2017 with its hybrid-powered $173,000 NSX supercar. And Acura's warranty, as well as Honda's, clearly states that it does not cover "the use of the vehicle in competition or racing events." View 33 Photos So we asked Sage Marie, Senior Manager of Public Relations for Honda and Acura. "If the car is stock, the warranty covers it on a track just as it does on the street. No question," he told us. "However, if the car is modified, say with slick tires or other components that would put higher stresses on the vehicle's parts and systems, then we would have to investigate the circumstances further." Marie went on to say the same would be true for any Acura model or Honda vehicle, including the new 2017 Honda Civic Si. This became a common theme. Chevrolet actually started this practice with the fifth-generation Camaro on the high-performance ZL1 and Z/28 models.
