1990 Nissan 300zx 2+2, Na on 2040-cars
Spanish Fork, Utah, United States
Stunning 1990 Black Metallic Nissan 300ZX 2+2 with 61,000 original miles. Interior is beautiful and in great shape. This car had been very taken care of and garaged every winter. Has no engine leaks, no wind noise, no water leaks from the T-Tops. I am the third owner of the car & bought it back in 2008 with 32,000 miles on it. I have taken extremely good care of this car & it shows. I just had the car painted to get rid of all the small dings (very few) and scratches that it had after being on the road for 23 years. I have been in the auto body business for 40 years & know what I'm doing. This car is incredible and you'll have a hard time finding one this nice that has not been molested.
Over the few years I have had it I have fixed or upgraded the following: All rear bushings, replaced with good Polyethelene 2 piece driveline replaced with a Z1 Motorsports single driveline. Timing belt replaced at 55k Alternator A/C Compressor was making noise so it was replaced with the belt. Clutch master & slave cylinder. Break Master cylinder. Power antenna. Nissan factory replaced wiring harness (recall item) Original floormats were found online for it . Original carpet is in incredible condition. Alpine stereo with I-Pod cable installed( I think I still have the original stereo also) The only things I know of on the car that are wrong is the passenger side map light does not work and the clock. It does have a small noise in the heat/AC fan that is making a slight clicking (but not often) when the fan is on position 3.Also has a very small tear in the rear seat (drivers side) Tires are at 60-70% Car still has the window sticker, headlight adjusting kit, factory jack, spare tire(never used), T-Top bags, T-Top covers, all 3 keys (Titanium, valet & other). I also have a car cover for it that has never been out of the box. If your looking for a Z in great shape Do Not Let this one pass you by! Buyer responsible for transportation. I would be willing to meet you at SLC airport if you want to drive it home. $500 Paypal due withing 2 days of sale, the rest by certified check within 10 days. Reserve is well below the buy-it-now price. |

Tesla, BMW and Nissan meeting in secret to discuss charging tech
Tue, Jun 17 2014It's interesting what's happening in the electric vehicle field. It used to be that BMW and Tesla were competitors. Then – and of course they're still competing, especially in the public mind – they were working together on ... something. Maybe. And now, the Financial Times reports that the two luxury automakers are meeting with Nissan. Again, maybe. The scuttlebutt is that the three companies are interested in working together on something to do with charging electric vehicles, potentially a global recharging standard. Currently, when it comes to fast charging, BMW uses the SAE Combo standard, Nissan uses CHAdeMO and Tesla uses its own Superchargers. The meeting was prompted by Tesla opening of all of its patents the other day, FT says. Speaking during the recent annual shareholder meeting, Musk said he was "more than happy to have other manufacturers" use Tesla's Superchargers but that, "there is no other electric car that can accept anything close to 135 kilowatts." Let's assume the technical hurdle can be overcome. With any potential patent/licensing problems out of the way, these discussions with BMW and Nissan might be revolving around this other angle that Musk mentioned: "They (other automakers) just have to contribute to the capital cost, so figure out what percentage of the time are their cars using the Supercharger network and then they can make a contribution proportionate to their customer usage of the Supercharger network." That certainly sounds like something that could take some time to figure out. Panoz and DeltaWing suing Nissan over BladeGlider concept
Mon, 02 Dec 2013Similarity is bound to occur in an industry where most of the products follow the same basic formula. But once in a while a new design comes along that doesn't quite reinvent the wheel, but comes pretty damn close. The DeltaWing project was one such design - and Nissan, the car's designers allege, stole that design.
After the DeltaWing proposal was rejected by the IndyCar series, its creators took it to Le Mans and brought Nissan on board to supply the power. Nissan subsequently pulled out of the program and came out with the ZEOD RC hybrid racer (right), bearing a suspiciously similar design with an unusually narrow front track at the end of a long nose cone, and a wider track at the back. The Japanese automaker then displayed the BladeGlider concept (below, right) at the Tokyo Motor Show, envisioning a translation of the same formula into road-going form.
The similarity did not escape Don Panoz, who - after making sports and racing cars under his own name and founding the now-defunct American Le Mans Series - was a central figure in bringing the original DeltaWing to life. Now Panoz has filed a lawsuit against Nissan, soliciting the courts to issue a cease-and-desist order on both the ZEOD RC and BladeGlider projects, naming Nissan motorsport chief Darren Cox and Ben Bowlby (who defected to Nissan from the DeltaWing program) as part of the suit.
Tier 1 suppliers call GM the worst OEM to work with
Mon, 12 May 2014Among automakers with a big US presence, General Motors is the worst to work for, according to a new survey from Tier 1 automotive suppliers, conducted by Planning Perspectives, Inc.
The Detroit-based manufacturer, which has been under fire following the ignition switch recall and its accompanying scandal, finished behind six other automakers with big US manufacturing operations. Suppliers had issues with trust and communications, as well as intellectual property protection. GM was also the least likely to allow suppliers to raise their prices in the face of unexpected increases in material cost, all of which contributed to 55 percent of suppliers saying their relationship with GM was "poor to very poor."
GM's cross-town competitors didn't fare much better. Chrysler finished in fifth place, ahead of GM and behind Dearborn-based Ford, which was passed for third place this year by Nissan. Toyota took the top marks, while Honda captured second place.
