1992 Nissan 240 Sx Convertible on 2040-cars
Seminole, Florida, United States
This Nissan 240 SX convertible is in outstanding condition both in appearance and mechanically. The car was purchased with only 500 miles on it back in 93 by the women who I'm listing it for. The car was to small for the original purchaser. This car has always been her baby as she refers to it and it is in outstanding condition with extensive maintenance done to it lately which is as follows. New 60000 mile Michelin Tires 13000 miles ago, new air conditioning compressor 7/9/13, new head gasket, thermostat, spark plugs installed at 144K. New radiator 143.5 K, new front brake pads, ceramic w/ lifetime pad warranty, both left and right outer tie rod ends, rack and pinion steering gear with inner tie rod ends at 142K. B6 induction cleaning, R/R valves/retrofit R-13UA Valves, recharge after flush at 136.5K. Replaced front & rear, left and right struts at 127K. Transmission replaced at 127k. The interior was redone in addition to all this maintenance. Over $8000.00 was spent on maintaining this car the past several years. As you can see the car has had extensive maintenance replacement done to it so the car is a reliable good running 20year old sporty 240 SX convertible ready to drive and enjoy. I will be putting more pictures on tomorrow. If you have any further questions please feel free to email me and I will be glad to give any additional information you require. Thanks for your interest. On Mar-03-14 at 18:22:27 PST, seller added the following information: The owner informed me the tires have only 2000 miles on them, not 13000. |

US-built Infiniti Q50 engines to go into Euro-only cars
Thu, 12 Jun 2014Back in March, Infiniti announced that it would be adding a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder to its Q50 line for European and Chinese buyers. Now, we know where that engine will be built.
Nissan's Decherd, TN facility will receive the $319-million investment, which will see a separate, dedicated line for the Infiniti engines. According to Automotive News, this is more than a line running alongside the Nissan operations - the Infiniti facility will sport its own unique architecture and interior lighting, in a bid to distinguish the premium line from its mass-market parent company.
The logistics of all this do seem, on the surface, quite screwy. Building a new engine on one continent for a car built on another that will eventually go on sale on a third doesn't seem too bright, although there is a catch here. The new engine will also find its way into the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which will kick off production in Vance, AL later this year.

Is 120 miles just about perfect for EV range?
Tue, Apr 15 2014When it comes to battery-electric vehicles, our friend Brad Berman over at Plug In Cars says 40 miles makes all the difference in the world. That's the approximate difference in single-charge range between the battery-electric version of the Toyota RAV4 and the Nissan Leaf. It's also the difference between the appearance or disappearance of range anxiety. The 50-percent battery increase has zapped any lingering range anxiety, Berman writes. The RAV4 EV possesses a 40-kilowatt-hour pack, compared to the 24-kWh pack in the Leaf. After factoring in differences in size, weight and other issues, that means the compact SUV gets about 120 miles on a single charge in realistic driving conditions, compared to about 80 miles in the Leaf. "The 50 percent increase in battery size from Leaf to RAV has zapped any lingering range anxiety," Berman writes. His observations further feed the notion that drivers need substantial backup juice in order to feel comfortable driving EVs. Late last year, the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), along with the Consumers Union estimated that about 42 percent of US households could drive plug-in vehicles with "little or no change" in their driving habits, and that almost 70 percent of US commuters drive fewer than 60 miles per weekday. That would imply that a substantial swath of the country should be comfortable using a car like the Leaf as their daily driver - with first-quarter Leaf sales jumping 46 percent from a year before, more Americans certainly are. Still, the implication here is that EV sales will continue to be on the margins until an automaker steps up battery capabilities to 120 or so miles while keeping the price in the $30,000 range. Think that's a reasonable goal to shoot for?
