You are bidding on a CLASSIC 1998 Mitsubishi Montero. I'm just going to be pretty straight with everything, this car has been my tank, get the job done, no playing around car since we bought it back in '98 (the good ole days). All 194k miles are family owned and have been quite adventurous. If you are looking for a car to not only get you from A to B and maybe over a few mountains through the woods to granny's house. Yes, the mileage is rather high, however, this baby has thousands of more miles left, or can be used as a utility car (what I have been using it for) to help load that wood for the fence you are building or maybe some mulch for the lawn.
Pros:
-Car runs and gets about 17mpg (not too shabby for a '99)
-Sound system works
-Power seats, heated seats
-Moon roof
-Tank, drives through snow and tornadoes...
-Utility, seats about 7 to 8 people
-4 wheel drive
-Fully functional (lights, turn signals, brights, everything operates fine)
-Working AC and Heat
-Power windows
Cons:
-Normal wear and tear for a 14 year car with over 190k miles on it (rips, scrapes, etc. dings and dongs, no major body damage however)
-Rust, this is a 14 year car so there will be rust throughout the engine and undercarriage, has yet to affect me yet though
-Driving- the car needs a new transmission module (about $79)
-Further explain: Car drives fine, but without the transmission module you have to drive the car in L (Low gear), then shift to 2 (2nd Gear), then shift to D (Drive). I havent gotten this replaced because I actually enjoy it a little, makes me feel like I'm driving a sports car with manual trans. I can give a demo of how easy and simple it really is. Plus I get better gas mileage out of it, I've gotten about 24mpg on highways at times
-Trunk, the back trunk door does not open, it hasn't for years and hasnt really affected me to fix it, seems like the lock just had a electrical short something not sure but the seats come down so I just throw the grass seed and supplies from the rear doors, I am sure you can easily get this fixed.
-Age: lets be honest, if you are trying to use this as a commuter car, I am not too sure how many miles you can push this, I drive it about 5 miles to the bus stop everyday to get to the city, and on weekends around 100miles or more if I have to pick some furniture someone is selling on craigslists.
OVERALL:
This car will get you through any weather and easily through the NY snows we have, I have driven it all throughout the winter and it drives strong. Its an old car with a whole lot of heart and just needs a new home. Yes it has a few downsides but what car of this age doesn't, if you really want to you can turn this into a great project car or something. It has a lot of potential and many miles left.
If interested do not hesitate to call or message me 8453251033.
I can offer Buy Now for in the $2250 range or less which is much lower than KBB value already but just shoot me an offer and I can see what I can do, I recently got a Land Rover and just don't need the car anymore for much. Also the cash can contribute to my many travels abroad and around because I am in the Army. THIS IS A MAN CAR THAT WILL GET THE JOB DONE!
GO ARMY! GOD BLESS!
KBB VALUE: $3503
NOTE: Ignore the VIN number, that is for my other car but I left this car at my parents house and forgot to get the VIN, however, if wanted I can call and get it from them. I can only have a select number of cars on the Army post and with the addition of the Rover I had to leave it at my parents which live in Monroe, NY Orange County so only 15 min away from me.

Mitsubishi ready to expand PHEV lineup with ASX, Pajero
Sun, Oct 12 2014Mitsubishi likes what it's seen from plug-in hybrid sales of its Outlander SUV in Europe. Now, it looks like the Japanese automaker will go back to that proverbial well within the next few years. And, once again, SUVs will be the medium. Mitsubishi will start selling plug-in hybrid versions of its ASX compact crossover, the company's best-selling model in Europe, in 2017, Automotive News Europe says, citing comments from Osamu Masuko. A year after that, the company will debut the Pajero plug-in hybrid SUV. No details were disclosed about exactly what kind of PHEV powertains will be used in the vehicles, which will be part of the next-generation incarnations of both models. The ASX appears to be a good trial vehicle, given that more than 22,000 of them were sold in Europe through August, Automotive News reports, citing JATO Dynamics. Mitsubishi representatives didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from AutoblogGreen. The company appears to be looking to build on the success of the Outlander Plug-in Hybrid. Mitsubishi sold almost 9,000 Outlander PHEVs in Europe during the first six months of the year. That model pairs a 2.0-liter gas engine with an electric motor and has an all-electric range of about 32 miles.
The worst rally driver you've ever seen
Wed, 14 Aug 2013Fast cars and excellent driving skills might be the easy answers when asking how to succeed in rally racing, but after watching this video, a good teammate is obviously an important aspect of this sport, too. During the 2013 Rally of Coimbatore in India, driver Samir Thapar and his co-driver, Vivek Ponnusamy, didn't seem to be on the same page as the two attempted to navigate the course in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
We'd probably hear drastically different stories if we talked to Thapar and Ponnusamy about this particular event, but you know things are bad when "stay on road" and "turn the wheel" are commands given by the co-driver (and yes, that's a man running for his life in the screen shot shown above). As it turned out, though, it seems like the Ponnusamy was justified in his concerns to take care of the racecar. Race results show that despite winning three of the seven stages, this team ultimately ended the race with a DNF.
Scroll down to watch the video, and even though it's been edited down from almost 40 minutes to less than four, we get the idea that it wasn't a pleasant experience for driver or co-driver.
Toyota, Mazda drop Takata as Mitsubishi, Subaru weigh options
Sat, Nov 7 2015It's not a very good time to be Takata right now. Fresh on the heels of longtime partner Honda ditching them, Toyota and Mazda have both come out and said they will not use the company's airbag inflators if they continue to rely on ammonium nitrate. Bloomberg reports that Subaru and Mitsubishi are also contemplating a divorce. "The inflator using ammonium nitrate produced by Takata will not be adopted by Toyota," President Akio Toyoda said during a briefing today. "What's most important above anything else is the safety and peace of mind of customers." Mazda echoed that position, simply saying it "will not use Takata airbag inflators which contain ammonium nitrate in our new cars." When you lose three huge OEM accounts in as many days, it's certainly going to have a deleterious effect on your fortunes. In Takata's case, that's meant a staggering 39-percent drop in their share price over the last three days. Yesterday alone, the company saw a 6.2-percent fall, Bloomberg reports. As the business publication reports, though, Takata isn't going down without a fight. The company is "considering some plans to survive," including a fundraising plan that will see it potentially offer up additional shares for sale. Still, at least one analyst doesn't see whatever company survives staying involved in the airbag inflator business. "I really don't see how they're going to be able to survive as an inflator manufacturer," Valient Market Research founder Scott Upham told Bloomberg. "When your major clients publicly come out and say that they're not going to use your products anymore, it makes this very difficult to sustain your business."
