Optima Red Top Battery Mishimoto Racing Thermostat Tuned by MDR Performance at 27psi (Spike) Exterior Mods: JDM Tail Lights Aftermarket Fog Lights (Were supposed to be a closer match to the factory HID Headlight Bulbs, but ended up looking close to stock color.) Window Tint Interior Mods: Jensen Flip Up Screen Cd/DVD Player (Unsure of model, was in the car when I bought it) May have aftermarket speakers from previous owner, since they sounded good enough for me to never feel like upgrading them. 2xJL 10's In a ported box, and a JL Amp (I'll have to check and see which models they were.) Extras if wanted: Aftermarket JDM Style Unpainted Rear bumper (Not sure of the brand, the guy I bought my other Evo from gave it to me because he didn't want it anymore) Stock Exhaust Stock Intercooler Stock Springs (suspension) Possibly Stock Intercooler Piping and intake if I still have it in the attic. Condition: Small crack in front middle of bumper from a friend bumping into a parking space. Black stock lip is on the car from my other Evo. Normal Wear on steering wheel, Small Stain on driver seat and scuff on driver side of rear bumper (unknown origin of stain and scuff, was there when I purchased the vehicle). Stock wing was painted apex silver due to the carbon fiber being sun damaged when I purchased the vehicle. Left over paint from the wing was used to touch up the scuff on the rear bumper. The trunk carpet is in place, but the sub box was not bolted down and has slid around a bit and messed it up a little. I can take pictures if requested. Hopefully my honesty on the car doesn't hurt the sale, but I drove 4 hours to Houston, TX to pick up my Black Evo, and the seller was more or less honest about the car and has been helpful post sell with any questions I had about the mods he had made to it. I am more than happy to keep in touch with the buyer and answer any future questions they may have, but the mods are pretty straight forward. Overall Interior/Exterior 9/10 - several small barely noticeable scratches/blemishes that I can notice, but no one else ever does unless I point them out. Most people don't even notice the small crack on front bumper or scuff on rear unless I point it out to them. Car has been garage kept since I purchased it with the exception of the last couple of weeks since my new Evo is in its place in the garage now. I've always used mobil 1 extended performance oil and filter (The 15,000 mile oil) and changed it every 3-5k miles. I might be able to find receipts for some of the parts, I know I saw the one for the clutch/flywheel when I was cleaning it out. Car is stock motor/stock turbo and was bone stock when I bought it. Car is unmolested. Carfax listed me as the 5th owner, but from what I can tell from it I am the 2nd non dealership owner. The car had 55k miles on it when I purchased it. Clean Carfax Report is available if requested. Reason for Selling: I bought a 2003 Tarmac Black one recently since I've always wanted a black one. The car I'm selling has never broken down or left me stranded in the 3-4 years and 40k miles I've had it, so it was no issue buying one a year older for me. Call or text 225-seven seven 3-four424 if you call and I don't answer leave a voicemail. I work in plants and can't always have my phone on me, so texting is probably the best bet for initial contact. The car is listed locally, and a few more miles will be put on it due to test rides for potential buyers, but that is all I have been driving it since I purchased the new one. SHIPPING/DELIVERY: LOCAL PICKUP ONLY PAYMENT: CASH OR CASHIER'S CHECK IF REQUESTED, I AM WILLING TO MEET UP WITH A NEARBY MECHANIC SHOP OF YOUR CHOICE TO HAVE THEM LOOK OVER THE VEHICLE (AT BUYER'S EXPENSE IF THERE IS A FEE) IF YOU ARE FROM OUT OF STATE AND WOULD BE TRAVELING HERE TO PURCHASE THE VEHICLE. If more pictures or additional information is needed, I will accommodate this to the best of my ability. (Pictures of specific areas in question) I travel with work, so may or may not be near the car in the event a request is made for pictures, but I should be able to get a coworker or my girlfriend to snap some shots if I am away and it is needed. Thanks for looking. |

Mitsubishi recalls 130k Lancers, Outlanders over auxiliary glitches
Sun, May 10 2015The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has has announced two separate recall campaigns for Mitsubishi vehicles, both of them related to problems with their auxiliary systems and covering a total of some 130,000 units. The recalls relate to Lancers (including Sportback and Evolution versions) as well as the Outlander and Outlander Sport, all of them from the 2009 through 2011 model years. The larger of the two recalls relates to the blower motor that may not to an adequate job of defrosting the windshield and therefor impede the driver's visibility. The recall covers 76,958 units, specifically the 2009-2011 Lancer (manufactured between March 16, 2009, and March 30, 2011), 2010-2011 Lancer Sportback (June 17, 2009, to December 1, 2010), 2010-2011 Lancer Evolution (July 14, 2009, to January 7, 2011), 2009-2011 Outlander (February 10, 2009, to June 22, 2011), and 2011 Outlander Sport (August 26, 2010, to November 19, 2010). The smaller recall still covers another 53,395 units due to a problem with the electronic control unit tasked with operating the headlights, taillights and windshield wipers. "Unstable voltage" in that dedicated ECU could cause those systems to function improperly – which, again, could impede the visibility and increase the risk of a crash. This recall covers the 2009-2010 Lancer (January 12, 2009, to July 6, 2010), 2010 Lancer Sportback (June 17, 2009, to June 8, 2010), 2010 Lancer Evolution (July 14, 2009, to August 4, 2010) and 2009-2010 Outlander (January 12, 2009, to August 27, 2010). In both cases the manufacturer is not aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from the problems. But all the same, in both cases, owners will be notified to bring their Mitsus into their local dealer to have the relevant component (blower motor or ECU) replaced. Since the affected models and model years overlap, we suspect some owners may have both components replaced on their vehicles at the same time, but we're reaching out to Mitsubishi Motors North America for clarification. If this array of recalled vehicles sounds familiar, you might be thinking of a similar campaign issued last October that covered some 166,000 Lancers and Outlanders from largely the same model years. That unrelated recall, however, related to the drive belt detaching from the engine.
Recharge Wrap-up: Japan supports hydrogen, Fools against fuel cells, BlueIndy controversy
Wed, Jun 25 2014Japan hopes to expand the use of hydrogen energy by subsidizing fuel cell vehicles, according to The Japan News. The trade ministry plans to include the subsidies in its 2015 budget to coincide with the expected launch of Toyota's Fuel Cell Vehicle and the Honda FCEV hydrogen car. By jump-starting purchases of hydrogen cars, Japan hopes that innovation and mass-production will get a boost and the cost of fuel cell vehicles will be competitive with gasoline-powered models by the year 2025. Japan plans to have 100 hydrogen fueling locations operating by March 2016, and wants to halve the cost of building those stations by 2020. The amount of the subsidies has not yet been set. Investing website The Motley Fool isn't quite as optimistic as Japan about hydrogen cars, and is instead bullish about Tesla Motors. The Fool points to Tesla's strong stock performance, and predicts future growth will come from more car models in the future - starting with the Model X - as well as the company's proposed Gigafactory for manufacturing batteries. If Tesla's charging technology continues to catch on, that only improves its financial prospects. The article has some harsh words, however, for hydrogen: "Fuel cells are an inferior automotive technology and for fundamental efficiency, cost, and infrastructure reasons always will be mere compliance gimmicks." Yeesh. As part of a program to build charging stations for the Indianapolis EV carsharing service BlueIndy, utility company Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL) wants to raise its electricity rates an average of 44 cents a month per residential customer to help pay for its share of the project. State consumer advocacy agency Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor and consumer watchdog group Citizens Action Coalition oppose the plan, according to Greenfield, Indiana's Daily Reporter. The BlueIndy program, which is a partnership between the city of Indianapolis and battery manufacturer Bollore Group, will provide up to 500 cars for rent at 25 charging sites around the city. Those who oppose the rate hike call IPL a monopoly and say the amount of the increase is not allowed under state law and that the program wouldn't benefit working class and low-income citizens. A hearing regarding IPL's proposal is scheduled for July 23. A Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will run the 2014 Asia Cross Country Rally, Hybrid Cars reports. The rally covers 1,367 miles of woods, swamps and mountains from Thailand to Cambodia.
Your 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb primer: "Donuts at 14,000 feet."
Sun, 30 Jun 2013The teams have all set up their pits and paddocks for today's run of the 91st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and there's nothing left to do but take a shot at the title. At 8 am Mountain time (9 am EST / 7 am PST), the first of a field of 83 bikes and 63 cars - whittled from an original field of 157 - will race 12.42 miles through 156 turns from the start gate at 9,390 feet to the summit finish at 14,110 feet. The summit is where we'll be all day, having arrived on the media bus at around 5 am and not allowed to come down until the race is finished. If it's anything like last year that could mean a 14-hour day on the top munching on donuts at the summit café, begging for hits of pure oxygen and trying to stay hydrated and warm...
Here are the event with Hyundai, we enjoyed dinner with Rhys Millen got his take on what's happened and what's about to happen. Millen said the issue that caused his engine swap last week was minor, a head gasket (a production part) that was causing a bit of hesitation and a slight drop in top speed. He said it's the first time they've stressed the engines this hard, pushing boost pressures up to 19 psi at altitude, which equates to 25 psi at sea level. Offering testament to the strength of the engines, though, he said that Paul Dallenbach's engine did the entire 2012 drift season as well as Pikes Peak, and it's the engine being used again for the hill climb this year.
We also chatted with Dallenbach, who has come back from that beastly crash last year in the Unlimited category to lead almost every practice day this year in the Time Attack class. Telling us he's happier behind the wheel this year than he has been in 20 years, he asked us, "Know what my dashboard says when I turn the car on? 'Donuts at 14,000 feet.'"
