2002 Mitsubishi Montero Limited Sport Utility 4-door 3.5l on 2040-cars
McLean, Virginia, United States
You are looking at a well maintained, great example of the very capable Mitsubishi Montero Limited SUV. Sorry about the dark pictures - cloudy day and dusk - will plan to re-take and re-post better pictures this weekend. This truck is excellent in the snow and very capable off-road (never taken off-roading/trails though). It's lived it's entire life as a daily driver for my wife - who just bought a new car. It has a fold down rear seat that allows seating for 7 - when not needed, it folds down to maximize cargo space in the back. It has rear ac/heat, reclining split rear bench so it literally reclines down to a bed. Wood trim (no cracks), upgraded stereo unit. Heated seats, cruise, power everything. It's the top of the line model. It's served us exceedingly well for the 12 years we've owned it - and helped us raise and haul around 4 kids. Now that 2 are in college, wife is downgrading to a smaller car - so this truck can provide many more years of excellent service to the new owner. THIS IS A ONE OWNER, GARAGE KEPT CAR!!
Mechanically: perfect. Just had a major repair done to replace steering rack. Regular maintenance performed consistently. Engine hums like new. Previously, all maintenance has been handled by a professional shop that specializes and Japanese and European cars. Solid V6 engine is the perfect combination of pep/power and fuel economy - without sacrificing seating capacity and or maneuverability. Feels sporty and tough, but luxurious and plush at the same time. Exterior: no dents, dings on the outside. Normal minor flaws (rock knicks/small scrapes on bumper) as expected in a 12 year old car. In fact, the body condition is closer to what you'd expect to find in a 5 year old car. Interior: almost flawless, except for a very small tear in the side of the drivers seat from regular wear (have to point it out to notice - will post a close up picture). Power everything - all accessories working. In short: this car is solid and has many many years and miles left to live. We've loved this car - and it shows. It's been meticulously maintained and kept. Hate to see it go, but we just don't have the room - or need for it anymore. You will not be disappointed. Prospective buyers are encouraged to come see it for yourself if possible. Test drives and inspections are welcomed and encouraged. Car is for sale locally - seller reserves the right to cancel the auction early in the event of a private/local sale. Please feel free to ask questions before bidding! Thanks for your interest - and good luck! |

2017 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will debut in New York
Fri, Jan 8 2016Mitsubishi is betting big on crossovers and EVs, and some promising stuff is in store for the end of this decade. But in the very near future, the first product in Mitsubishi's EV/CUV strategy will launch in the US: the 2017 Outlander PHEV will finally bow at the New York Auto Show in March. I say "finally" because Mitsubishi already offers a plug-in Outlander in other markets, and overseas the PHEV crossover is off to a great start. Mitsubishi is seeing "great success in Europe," according to Ken Konieczka, the company's VP of sales operations. And when the Outlander PHEV launches in the US later this year, Konieczka thinks it'll attract a lot of new buyers to the Mitsubishi brand. I got to see the 2017 Outlander PHEV at a small event in Detroit on Thursday. It's the only one in the country, and still has to undergo some more testing and development before the CUV ready for the spotlight. Perhaps that's why Mitsubishi parked it in a dark corner of Detroit's Garden Theater. Compared to the regular Outlander you see pictured here, the PHEV doesn't look all that different save some badges on the tailgate and front fenders and, of course, the charging port. But that's not all Mitsubishi has in store for New York. The Mirage G4 sedan will also bow at that show, after its Canadian introduction at the Toronto Auto Show in February. Like the Outlander PHEV, the Mirage G4 already exists in other markets, and Mitsubishi says it has the largest interior volume of any sedan in its class. More information about both models – including pricing and specifications – will be available when both cars hit the Javits Center stage in March.
FCA compromises with France, moving Renault merger bid forward
Tue, Jun 4 2019FRANKFURT/PARIS – Renault directors were preparing to review Fiat Chrysler's $35 billion merger offer on Tuesday, after the Italian-American carmaker resolved differences with the French government overnight, three sources said. The compromise on French government influence over a combined FCA-Renault may clear the way for Renault's board to approve a framework agreement beginning the long process of a full merger, unless new issues surface at the meeting. France, Renault's biggest shareholder with a 15% stake, had been pressing for its own guaranteed seat on the new board and an effective veto on CEO appointments. But after late-night talks with FCA Chairman John Elkann, the French government has accepted a compromise that would see it occupy one of four board seats allocated to Renault, balanced by four FCA appointees, the sources said. Renault would also cede one of its two seats on a four-member CEO nominations committee to the French state, they said. Renault, FCA and the French government all declined to comment on the discussions. The same evening that the compromise was was negotiated, activist hedge fund CIAM wrote to the board of Renault to say it "strongly opposed" a planned $35 billion merger with Fiat Chrysler. Calling the deal "opportunistic," the fund said the current deal terms strongly favored Fiat Chrysler and offered no control premium. Consumer Reports: Ford Fusion fun but flawed; Mitsubishi i-MiEV slow, chintzy [w/videos]
Wed, 23 Jan 2013Waiting for a Ford compliment from Consumer Reports these days is like waiting for a low-cost new product from Apple. So we weren't really expecting a glowing review of the 2013 Ford Fusion when CR got its hands on the car. The institute's crew bought three different versions of the Fusion (Hybrid, 1.6-liter EcoBoost and a Titanium with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost) to put through its barrage of tests, and while we aren't too surprised by some of the findings, they're still interesting nonetheless.
CR praises the Fusion for its "eye-catching" design and says that the sportier Titanium trim level is the best-handling midsize sedan they've ever tested, but that's about where the good news ends for Ford. The Fusion Hybrid also posted the best-ever fuel economy CR has recorded in a midsize sedan, but the only problem is that their number was 39 miles per gallon combined - far less than Ford's 47 mpg rating for city, highway and combined. As expected, CR also dinged the Fusion for its MyFord Touch, but some of the other gripes about the car include a cramped cabin and poor fit and finish.
Other Ford products tested this time around include the Focus Electric and C-Max Hybrid. Like the Fusion, CR's observed fuel economy of 37 mpg for the C-Max fell well short of Ford's advertised 47-mpg rating, and both cars were criticized for the use of MyFord Touch. CR notes that the Focus Electric's interior is also cramped, with the battery pack taking up a lot of cargo space.
